Hi,
1) Don't build simuv3
2) The following are my notes for torcs_1.3.2-test1 on CentOS 5:
./configure --prefix=/home/UserName/local --x-libraries=/usr/lib/ CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3" CPPFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3"
make && make install && make datainstall
Strip binaries in local/lib/torcs
find . -name *.so -exec strip -s '{}' \;
find . -name "*-bin" -exec strip -s '{}' \;
Use settings in .torcs
1280x960 75Hz

-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Building TORCS on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit Date: Thu, 21 Jun 2012 18:56:01 +0100 From: Yuya Takeuchi <com...@gm...> To: tor...@li... Hi, I have an Ubuntu machine running the Precise Pangolin 12.04 LTS version, and I have been trying to build TORCS to start building my own robots. I have already emailed Bernhard directly and he has pointed me to report my problem here. Upon using ./configure everything went OK, but on 'make' it returned errors, which I have attached a log of. I have tried 'make' on TORCS 1.3.3, 1.3.4-test1 and 1.3.4-test2 which all returned the same error. Bernhard has pointed me to a possible fix for the error which concerned errors in exporting compile flags for OpenAL. http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3517253&group_id=3777&atid=103777 <http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3517253&group_id=3777&atid=103777> There seems to be a link for a patch to fix this problem, but I do not know how to apply the patch file and as far as I know, 1.3.4-test1 and later have the patch already applied to it. Please help me solve this error and get TORCS up and running. I have previously played TORCS installed from the Store which worked fine and was great fun, but I need to compile from source in order to build my robots. Thank you in advance, Yuya |

Hi Arkady, maybe you don't have write permission for the directory where trackgen is attempting to put the completed .ac file. kilo http://three.sentenc.es On 20 June 2012 10:09, Bernhard Wymann <be...@bl...> wrote: > Hi Arkady > >> I'm trying to get to grips with procedurally generating tracks. > > Cool, interesting, did you read the thesis of those guys (have a look > into "about"): > http://trackgen.pierlucalanzi.net/ > >> I can output xml, but I can't find out how to turn this xml into a >> usable track. Hi Arkady > I'm trying to get to grips with procedurally generating tracks. Cool, interesting, did you read the thesis of those guys (have a look into "about"): http://trackgen.pierlucalanzi.net/ > I can output xml, but I can't find out how to turn this xml into a > usable track. Trackgen seems to do part of the job, but I get message > saying it failed to open the .ac file. Maybe you refer to another ac file in the xml (e.g. the optional relief?), no idea, what is the console output if you run it from console? If you compiled from source with Visual Studio newer than 6.0, there is an issue with wrong fopen parameters, which cause an exception. If you run it under Posix like systems or the binary distribution (which is still built with vc 6.0) then trackgen should work with a correct xml file. Use trackgen -h for help: Usage: trackgen -c category -n name [-a] [-m] [-s] [-S] [-E <n> [-H <nb>]] -c category : track category (road, oval, dirt...) -n name : track name -b : draw bump track -B : Don't use terrain border (relief supplied int clockwise, ext CC) -a : draw all (default is track only) -z : Just calculate track parameters and exit -s : split the track and the terrain -S : split all -E <n> : save elevation file n 0: all elevatation files 1: elevation file of terrain + track 2: elevation file of terrain with track white 3: track only 4: track elevations with height steps -H <nb> : nb of height steps for 4th elevation file [30] -L libDir : Library directory And maybe this helps: usuarios.multimania.es/f1torcs/ and http://torcs.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/torcs/torcs/torcs/doc/tutorials/track/index.html?revision=1.2&pathrev=r1-3-1 If this does not help, please post the console output of trackgen, maybe this gives a hint. If there isn't anything interesting you could as well build a debug version of trackgen and have a look with the debugger why it fails or post the track xml, then I could have a look when I find the time. Do not forget to show us the result then;-) Best regards Bernhard > > How do I create the .ac file from my xml file? > > > Thanks in advance, > > > Arkady. > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Live Security Virtual Conference > Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and > threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond. I am not sure if you are saying about the failure about open the .ac file in the following code: Under project ”trackgen” ->“ac3d.cpp” ->function “FILE * Ac3dOpen(char *filename, int nbObjects)” ->”save_fd = fopen(filename, “at”); If I remembered correctly, it used to be “wa” here. I change it into “at” instead. And I delete all the old “.ac” files before I want to generate a new one. So maybe it is also possible to put “wt” here rather than “at”. I am using torcs under Windows 7, so I am not sure if it is the right answer for you, but at least it solve my problem, I used to fail to regenerate any existed track using trackgen.exe. I'm trying to get to grips with procedurally generating tracks. I can output xml, but I can't find out how to turn this xml into a usable track. Trackgen seems to do part of the job, but I get message saying it failed to open the .ac file. How do I create the .ac file from my xml file? Thanks in advance, Arkady. |

Trackgen should do the job, and generate the needed ac file... at least it works for me always with tracks generated with trackeditor, except when I mess up the xml manually.
