Hi,

I have an Ubuntu machine running the Precise Pangolin 12.04 LTS version,
and I have been trying to build TORCS to start building my own robots.

I have already emailed Bernhard directly and he has pointed me to report
my problem here.

Upon using ./configure everything went OK, but on 'make' it returned
errors, which I have attached a log of. I have tried 'make' on TORCS
1.3.3, 1.3.4-test1 and 1.3.4-test2 which all returned the same error.
Bernhard has pointed me to a possible fix for the error which concerned
errors in exporting compile flags for OpenAL.

There seems to be a link for a patch to fix this problem, but I do not
know how to apply the patch file and as far as I know, 1.3.4-test1 and
later have the patch already applied to it.

Please help me solve this error and get TORCS up and running. I have
previously played TORCS installed from the Store which worked fine and
was great fun, but I need to compile from source in order to build my
robots.

Hi Arkady,

maybe you don't have write permission for the directory where trackgen
is attempting to put the completed .ac file.

Maybe you refer to another ac file in the xml (e.g. the optional 
relief?), no idea, what is the console output if you run it from console?

I am not sure if you are saying about the failure about open the .ac file in
the following code:

 

Under project ”trackgen” 

->“ac3d.cpp”

->function “FILE * Ac3dOpen(char *filename, int nbObjects)”

->”save_fd = fopen(filename, “at”); 

 

If I remembered correctly, it used to be “wa” here. I change it into
“at” instead.

And I delete all the old “.ac” files before I want to generate a new one.
So maybe it is also possible to put “wt” here rather than “at”.

 

I am using torcs under Windows 7, so I am not sure if it is the right answer
for you, but at least it solve my problem, I used to fail to regenerate any
existed track using trackgen.exe.

  Trackgen should do the job, and generate the needed ac file... at
least it works for me always with tracks generated with trackeditor,
except when I mess up the xml manually.
