Danny Schellhammer kindly allowed me to enhance his excellent track, setting it in a winter landscape as well as reducing a sudden bump at the top of the first hill. The new version, which will be used in this year's TRB championship, can be downloaded from http://locus.webng.com/tracks.html cheers, Andrew |

Seemingly, several parameters run out of bounds during a race.

After updating from CVS and using your proposed flag helped me to compile the whole project in VC6. Additionally I only had to deactivate "use precompiled headers" in the project options for simuv3 to make it work. Now only one warning is left: C:\Programme\torcs\torcs\src\modules\simu\simuv3\aero.cpp(243) : warning C4305: 'argument' : Verkuerzung von 'const double' in 'float' *************************** Torcs does not crash anymore if I start a race with the simuv3-engine activated. So everything seems to work. Many thanks for helping me. Bernhard Christos wrote: Re: [Torcs-users] Can not run torcs with simuv3 under w32 > > Oh, OK, it's C++ incompatibility flag in VC. I changed torcs.rc to be compatible with VC++2005 , and I think we should migrate to VC++2008 as VC6 and VC++2005 are no longer available from Microsoft. Does anyone have an idea to get a compatible torcs.rc between all the versions of Visual C++ ? Eric. I used the CVS from yesterday (27.March).
I just checked out the newest version, but now the default building settings do not work anymore.
The 27.March-version was compiling without any warning (if the default configuration without simuv3 was used). With the current version I get following error (default configuration!):
*******************

I could solve this problem with the following change:
in wtorcs -> Source Files (Solution explorer) exclude torcs.rc.

Next I tried to build the project with simuv3 included (Errors: 0, Warnings: 48). The Warnings are listed below. Unfortunately the warnings are in German and I do not know how to make VC6 speak English:

Hi, did you get the current CVS? I just committed my latest changes
(which are minor, however) and which clean up all warnings.
However I never compiled it with VC6. I guess that the current file
should work.

Please tell me what the warnings are, I'll try to fix them. They might
have something to do with the SimulationOptions code, which uses
templates. I don't know if VC6 supports templates - I know there had
been issues in the past.
If such issues remain I guess I'll have to un-templatise the code.

Sounds like a compiler compatibility problem. Please send your warnings.

Hello everyone
I wanted to try the simuv3 simulation engine under windows xp and VC6.
Although I managed to compile it after following steps:
a) Added simuv3.dsp to the TORCS.dsw workspace
b) From the simuv3 directory I added
the files SimulationOptions.cpp, SimulationOptions.h and Options.h to
the simuv3.dsp project
Now I could compile the whole thing, although there were many warnings with the simuv3-code.
c) I substituted the car-xml files from the cvs with that from cars-simuv3.tar.bz
d) Changed
<attstr name="simu" val="simuv2"/>
in runtime/config/raceengine.xml to
<attstr name="simu" val="simuv3"/>
I can start torcs, but in the initialization phase before the race, torcs crashes after all drivers are loaded ("Loading Driver ..") with a windows message box "Runtime Error! ... abnormal program termination".
Has anyone an idea why that happens, or what am I doing wrong?
Cheers,
Bernhard Thiele

Hi, Andrew Sumner was so kind to design a car for me and allowed me to share it with others too. A video of the 'real life' car can be found on youtube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=g5Yo6V2E0sM A Linux rpm (build on openSUSE 10.3), which installs into '/usr/share/games/torcs/cars' can be found here: http://files.filefront.com/TORCS+Power+Smartrpm/;9880087;/fileinfo.html People on MS-Windows or 'non-rpm' Linux Distro's can find a .zip file here: http://files.filefront.com/smartzip/;9880801;/fileinfo.html (Just unpack the contents of the archive into your 'cars' folder). You will find the car after installation in the 'free' category. BTW: Due to the short wheelbase, the car is not easy to drive. You have to try to 'slide' around the corners... Anyway, have fun ! I find that the front bumper view is the most realistic sensation of speed and best framerate. However, since the camera angle is so low, it's hard to see the oncoming corners. Is there anything in the configuration (file or source) that I can use to put the viewpoint up a bit higher? Alternatively, I'd be OK with a driver's eye view that just didn't draw my car at all. Thanks, Jeff |

You normally have to install all the development packages .. but apart from that, ./configure --x-libraries=/usr/lib/ I am note sure why this fails, but it failed for me when I tried to compile TORCS on a new machine. Hi Torcs users. I installed Torcs 1.3.0 from Adept Manager, in Kubuntu, but searching in usr/share/games/Torcs/ folder I found some bots I couldn't drive against, like some Damned and Inferno. How could I make them function? After that, I downloaded some new cars and tracks, like Supercars Package, but I couldn't install some of them, like Matt_1-5 and Hymie bots of brondehach package. I also looked for Olethros bots, but I didn't find them. Could you help me? Thanks, Ocirne. |
