Hi,
A little hint, TORCS runs better if the desktop is configured
with at least 24 bits per pixel.
But with the traces you provided, it seems that the video memory
is full, so you can try with e-track-5 and only one rally car.
it's the lowest texture usage.
Bye,
Eric.

Hello there,
I am really impressed with torcs - excellent program.
However...I installed on a RH9 machine,
(PIII, 1GHz, with PLIB 1.6 and a 82815 CGC video card.
XFree86-Mesa-libGL-4.3.0-8)
and it freezes at the point where the 3D should start.
The following text appears in the console:
slDSP: open: Device or resource busy
WARNING: slScheduler: soundcard init failed.
initCars: start invalid value
but then everything hangs. I ssh in from another machine, and kill the
process, and as the windows halts it prints:
Hit bound texture in upload
Texture at 50000 sz 3fe00
Texture at 40000 sz ff00
Texture at 0 sz 3f80
Texture at b0000 sz 3fe00
Killed
meanshile, in /var/log/messages, appears this:
Jun 15 23:08:24 murrays kernel: [drm:i810_lock_take] *ERROR* 4 holds
heavyweight lock
Does this mean anything to you?
If I try in ddd, it doesn't get so far..maybe I set up the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH wrong:
0x4059e487 in _mesa_test_os_sse_exception_support () from
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/i810_dri.so
Thanks very much,
Bill

Emmanuel,
The 8 MB of graphic memory are surely filled with the textures.
try one rally car on e-track-5 to be sure, the amount of texture
is low in these conditions.
After that, some work on the texture loader can be done to
reduce the texture size stored in memory and also limit the
number of bits per pixel.

Are you using the graphic drivers of the Mdk 9.1 ?

Hello,
I don't know if you have received my previous message.
The Torcs game is really super, and i have installed it on my mandrake linux system (9.1).
Yet, i have a small problem : cars are only white. The decoration is coloured (beautiful, the tracks, the sky etc...) but not the cars. The wheels, of course, are black.
I ask to me if this isn't a problem of memory : i have a pentium II, 350 mhz, 384 meg of ram, graphic card matrox G200 with 8 meg.
The speed of the game is ok. Only the color of the cars is strange. Perhaps is there a problem with the path ?
I have looked at the web site of torcs, but i don't know where there are answers for june month. So, don't hesitate to reply me by email.
Thank you very much for your help.
Yours sincerely
Emmanuel
