Hi,
On certain tracks, like alpine 2, the points (car) in the map look shifted:
they don't correspond to the
place in the track where they should be.
Any ideas?
Albert.

Hi Enrico Open the XML file with a text editor and do the following: change <attstr name="category" val="" /> to <attstr name="category" val="road" /> That makes it work for me. Good to know someone is continuing the "track editor project", but unfortunately windows only, why couldnt Sk. use platform-independent libraries? Vicente, you suggested to run the app with wine, which wont work at all because wine does not support the NET framework. Could Sk. release the source code of his track editor? Best regards, olaf |

A new trackedior is under development by Sk. A beta version is available to download You can read more an give feedback to the developer of the program on the f1torcs forum: http://www.s8.createphpbb.com/f1torcs/viewtopic.php?p=54&mforum=f1torcs#54 The beta version can be downloaded from: www.megaupload.com/?d=HO6YX2OS And to run the program you will need to: * Install the . NET framewor (version 2.0) * copy form the torcs sources the file C:\torcs\src\libs\tgf\params.dtd "I started one in C# using OpenGL and the NET Framework facilities. I wanted to know whether it would have any audience among those interested in track editing - I'm probably gonna work on it some more anyway, but to do that final bit of "finish" I'd really like to know that it raises some interest. I ask this because I know of the Mono project, but as of now NET mainly equates to "Windows only": would you be interested in such a tool or fo you prefer Linux applications?" It's what front-wheel drive cars use (and what a lot of rear-wheel drive cars use). A limited slip differential is almost the same, but it does not let the wheels rotate at _very_ different speeds. Depending on the situation, it might behave either more like a free differential or like a spool one. In a spool differential, the wheels always rotate at exactly the same speed. A couple of more differentials: a locking differential has two states: free and locked (spool). The change from one mode to the other may be manual or automatic, depending. (It's usually manual in some 4WD off-road vehicles). a variation of the limited slip differential is the viscous coupler (used in some places in torcs). > C) What is efficiency for, in gears and differential; > Some energy is wasted when things rotate. > D) What are Adherence and initial ride height in wheels; > The ride height is just the ground clearance when the car is stationary. Adherence is: a) stiffness: how responsive the car tyres are b) dynamic friction: how much friction you have when the car starts to slide c) rolling resistance: self-explanatory d) mu: maximum friction possible with this tyre The car tyre friction curve versus speed is 0 at relative speed 0 (when the tyre moves at the same speed as the road). It goes up really fast to mu and then down again to some value mu*dynamic_friction. The speed it goes up with depends on stiffness. > E) How can I raise car height, because it creeps on the road at high > speeds, without using Blender. > Your suspension is too soft, or your aerodynamics are unrealistically strong, or your ride height is too low. |

Hi! I'm trying to making a car, and I need some help for xml file. There are several things I don't know and I didn't find them in any tutorials I saw. So: A) What is Tq, in "data points"; B) The difference between Free Differential, Limited Slip Differential and Spool Differential; C) What is efficiency for, in gears and differential; D) What are Adherence and initial ride height in wheels; E) How can I raise car height, because it creeps on the road at high speeds, without using Blender. Can you help me? Hoping I will finish my car soon, Thanks for your patience, Ocirne |

Hi! I have a problem with encoding a movie. I captured a movie, and I converted png images to jpg. When in command line I run ~/.torcs/captures$ mencoder -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vbitrate=1800 *.jpg mf:// on:fps=25 -o /home/try1.avi (I changed -mf to mf:// because when I ran command appeared: -mf on has been removed, use mf:// instead. I think that the problem is that the ac format exported by blender it's a bit different form the torcs ac file format (the "crease 30" line). So to solve the problem you have to export the car into ac format that is readable by torcs you have to use the TORCS AC3D exporter. You can find this phyton script with this document. To install the script just copy the file ac3d_torcs_export.py to Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts. Now the exporter is available in the export menu. You can download the script here: http://www.esnips.com/doc/973b475c-e048-4bd6-ba6a-badec703af65/ac3d_torcs_export Moreover you can take a look at the track tutorial wher is explained how to Edit the ac file created with trackgen with blender http://usuarios.lycos.es/f1torcs/tutorial/index.html and http://usuarios.lycos.es/f1torcs/ By the way, if you add new objects the objects must have triangles, so convert squared faces to triangles (select the faces into blender and pres Crtl + T). Hope this helps to solve the problem. Hi there. My Linux is i386 Kubuntu 7.10. The config.log file is attached. The configure script could not find libX11. I have the following packages installed: libx11-6 libx11-data libx11-dev Here are all the files on my system with libx11 or libX11 in the name: /usr/share/doc/libx11-data /usr/share/doc/libx11-6 /usr/share/doc/libx11-dev /usr/lib/libx11globalcomm.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib/libx11globalcomm.so.1 /usr/lib/caca/libx11_plugin.so.0.0.0 /usr/lib/caca/libx11_plugin.la /usr/lib/caca/libx11_plugin.so.0 /usr/lib/caca/libx11_plugin.so /usr/lib/caca/libx11_plugin.a /usr/lib/libx11globalcomm.la /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-6.preinst /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-dev.md5sums /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-dev.list /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-6.postinst /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-6.postrm /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-6.md5sums /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-6.shlibs /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-data.md5sums /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-data.list /var/lib/dpkg/info/libx11-6.list /usr/lib/libX11.so.6.2.0 /usr/lib/libX11.a /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 /usr/lib/libX11.so I don't know what to change to make the configure script work. Hi! I'm sorry but I have another problem. So running the first command appeared: MEncoder 2:1.0~rc2-0ubuntu1~gutsy1 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz (Family: 15, Model: 2, Stepping: 7) CPUflags: Type: 15 MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1 Compiled with runtime CPU detection. File not found: '*.jpg' Failed to open *.jpg. Cannot open file/device. And it didn't create the AVI movie. Could someone help me? Thanks Ocirne |

I need to put better instructions for linux on that website. You'll need to create hymie_sc1 and hymie_sc2 folders under /usr/local/lib/torcs/drivers, and copy hymie_sc1.so and hymie_sc2.so to those folders. cheers Andrew |

The hymie bots (I presume you're talking about the supercars set?) aren't part of the TORCS distribution. You can download it from http://locus.webng.com/cars.html. Sorry, I can't help with the crash problem. cheers Andrew |
