Hi group I have been struggeling for a couple of days now to get torcs to compile with VS2005 and I am having a problem with compiling the client project. The following error appears when I try to compile: libpng.lib(gzio.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _errno referenced in function _gz_open it could seem like I miss the gzio.obj file.. I havn't been able to find it anywhere in my harddrive so, do any of you guys know where I can find it or has this error nothing to do with this missing file? Please let me know if you have an idea of what could course this error and maybe how to fix it. Best, Dannie |

In Ubuntu, you should install the package libxi-dev: sudo apt-get install libxi-dev On Wednesday 21 November 2007 13:58:11 Kai Ottenbacher wrote: > Group, I got my problem with the missing X 11 library resolved (thanx > Thorsten) but now I got stuck again because of a missing Xi lib that I > can't figure out where to find or where to get from. Group, I got my problem with the missing X 11 library resolved (thanx Thorsten) but now I got stuck again because of a missing Xi lib that I can't figure out where to find or where to get from. I assume that this is the same lib but if I reference the path to the lib with=20 # ./configure --x-libraries=3D/usr/lib/ still won=B4t solve the problem. Sorry for being so "new" ;-) Greetz, Kai (CODE) checking for XOpenDevice in -lXi... no configure: error: Can't find libXi. Please check config.log and if you can't solve the problem send the file to tor...@li... with the subject "torcs compilation problem" (CODE) On Tue, 2007-11-20 at 17:38 +0100, Thorsten Heidt wrote: > btw. this Info is from http://torcs.sourceforge.net/ - search the > welcome page for 'X 11'! :) >=20 > Greetz >=20 > PS: brrrr - terrible english - shame on me! :D >=20 > 2007/11/20, Kai Ottenbacher <kai...@we...>: > Group - got stuck while trying to compile torcs 1.3.0 (under > Ubuntu 7.10)- unfortunately > can't find / don't have (=3F) the config.log. Hai Kai! :) Try this: If the configure script does not find the X11 library or include files you can pass the location as parameter to the configure script, example: ./configure --x-libraries=/usr/lib/ ./configure --x-libraries=/usr/lib/ --x-includes=/usr/include/X11/ There are some broken OpenAL installations in the wild, so if TORCS crashes in OpenAL (start it with torcs -d to get a backtrace on crash) go to the sound options menu in TORCS and switch to the plib backend. Group - got stuck while trying to compile torcs 1.3.0 (under Ubuntu 7.10)- unfortunately can't find / don't have (?) the config.log. I figure that's because all downloaded torcs-files are only available as .tar on my desktop. pit instructions for inferno robots are located in the file
drivers\inferno\\tracksdata\.xml
I know this, what I mean is that on g-track-2 those pit instructions are not needed, you can run, for instance, inferno-2 with g-track-2.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!--
file : e-track-4.xml

<attnum name="offset" val="1.0"/>
</section>
</params>
and the car still makes pitstops. At least it did last I checked. If none else seen this I'd be surprised.
The car doesn't run fast by any standard with the above settings but it doesn't commit suicide immediately.
I looked at it make a pitstop just seconds ago! Perhaps not directly spooky but I am a little curious about this.
Regards
Kennet

Looks like the actual problem lies with PLIB and OpenAL. I never did get PL= IB to output on the Santa Cruz so I began researching the crash of OpenAL o= n 64 bit systems such as BlueWhite 64. Apparently, I was using an older ver= sion, 0.0.8, of OpenAL. After upgrading to CVS, the crash stopped. However,= I had to recompile TORCS 1.3.0 and problems developed after upgrading to O= penAL 1.0 - CVS. During configure, TORCS constantly complained that it coul= dn't find PLIB 1.8.3. I had PLIB 1.85rc installed so this error is nonsense= . Furthermore, during configure again, TORCS complained about not having Op= enGL Version 1.3 installed or something which again is a nonsensical error = as I'm using the latest version of nVidia's binary driver. Eventually, I ju= st decided to run make without letting configure complete. TORCS built and = installed. It's running fine, but these build errors need fixing. _________________________________________________________________ Connect and share in new ways with Windows Live. http://www.windowslive.com/connect.html?ocid=3DTXT_TAGLM_Wave2_newways_1120= 07= |

Hi
If an Inferno car observes a crash in front of it directly at the start it stops, at least on some tracks, a fair distance from the crash. On ovals, when it goes at warp speed, it hardly attempts to brake at all before crashing into a slow moving car.
This gives me the impression that the lookup distance for obstacles works backwards, that is: the faster the car goes the shorter the lookup distance gets.
Could someone, perhaps Eric Espié (one of Infernos creators I believe), confirm or deny this?
On g-track-2 Inferno cars can pit without explicite instructions in the track.xml file. On others it cannot. I probably miss something elementary here, but could someone explain this phenomenon to me?
By the way, I love the new tracks. They are very beautiful and fun to drive. Thank you to the creators. Would a humble request for Laguna Seca be in order?
Regards
Kennet

I'm using a second sound card with the latest version of ALSA on BlueWhite6=
4 v. 12. I want TORCS to output on /dev/dsp1, the second card. The primary =
audio card is the built-in HDA NVidia Realtek chip which works fine with TO=
RCS and the PLIB audio driver, but the HDA drivers are immature so I'm usin=
g my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz as the second card instead. Because of OpenAL =
problems on TORCS 1.3 which crashes TORCS on a 64 bit platform, I'm trying =
to use PLIB 1.85rc for audio instead of OpenAL . Once again, I have no prob=
lems using PLIB as the audio driver IF I want to use the onboard HDA NVidi=
a chipset, but I want to use the Santa Cruz instead. Bottom line: How does =
one configure the TORCS/ALSA combination to hear audio on the second sound =
card which is the Santa Cruz in this case. My asound.conf file follows:
pcm.card0 {
type hw
card NVidia
}
pcm.card1 {
type hw
card CS46xx
}
pcm.mix {
type asym
playback.pcm "hw:1"
capture.pcm "hw:0"
}
# 'dsp' is expected by OSS emulation etc.
pcm.dsp {
type plug
slave.pcm "mix"
}
pcm.dsp0 {
type plug
slave.pcm "mix"
}
# 'dsp1' is expected by OSS emulation etc.
pcm.dsp1 {
type plug
slave.pcm "mix"
}
pcm.!default {
type plug
slave.pcm "dsp0"
}
ctl.!default {
type hw
card CS46xx
}

A new version of e-track-6, with reworked textures and trackside scenery, can be downloaded from http://www2.webng.com/locus/tracks.html. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed making it :) cheers Andrew |
