Hi, The robots packages are named torcs-robots-xxx.rpm you should install some of them to have oponents. don't forget to install cars and tracks too. before running a race you should go to the "configure" menu to select the drivers. <http://torcs.sourceforge.net/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=10> is a good start to configure the player and the races. Hi Adam > I've literally spend days on this and have gotten nowhere. > make doesn't work and gmake is just as bad. Anyone ever manage to build > torcs on an AIX box? I have not heard of anybody. I think it will not be trivial to make TORCS work on AIX because of the handling of shared libraries (if I remember right there are some very important differences to Linux which might cause some trouble, e.g. AIX needs to resolve all symbols at link time). To start building TORCS you should get the GNU tools, they work also with AIX (automake, autoconf, gnu make, ...). After you have got the tools you can try to port it, if you want, but I really have a feeling that this is some work. Otherwise it would be cool to have a platform more:-) bye, Bernhard. -- visit my homepage http://www.berniw.org |

Hello, have you tried <http://torcs.sourceforge.net/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=10> the joystick configuration is explained there. Eric. I've literally spend days on this and have gotten nowhere. make doesn't work and gmake is just as bad. Anyone ever manage to build torcs on an AIX box? Hi, I recently installed TORCS on my Linux machine (running Mandrake Linux 9.2). I followed the installation instructions given in the TORCS website. Everything went smooth and fine. Except that when I try to click "New Race", a few things get loaded and sudddenly the TORCS window is closed and comes back to the terminal and displays the message, "no driver found for this race..." this happens for all the races. I checked out the drivers folder. It does not seem to contain the required drivers as mentioned. It contains only human and billy folders which I installed. For eg...one of the missing drivers is inferno4.so...where do I get these drivers now? Thanks, Harish _________________________________________________________________ Keep track of Singapore & Malaysia stock prices. http://www.msn.com.sg/money/ |

Hi, My InterAct Raider PRO Digital joystick does not work with TORCS, but works with Tuxracer and other games. How can I configure the joystick to work with TORCS? I run SuSE 9.0. PR |

Hi > thank u, but i have read all about installing torcs... > and option -s have that same error.... > > i have torcs main from source and data package installed... I have found another possible cause for this: - If a configuration xml file is available as "filename" and "filename~" TORCS crashes at startup, e. g. this happens with endrace.xml and endrace.xml~. That happens if you edited the file with an editor, some of them leave a ~ file. bye, Bernhard. -- visit my homepage http://www.berniw.org |
