Hi All: On my first message I forgot to say that I had a segmentation fault at first on my AMD 64X2 (x86_64) with Fedora Core 7. It was happening always on the first collision. It was easy to solve, after trying changing all the options one by one: It was due to openal sound. I switched the sound to plib and it works fine. Just mentioning here so it can be archived and googled later by other users having this problem. Regards, -- Jaime Vives Piqueres La Persistencia de la Ignorancia http://www.ignorancia.org |

The most important is to have only triangles in your model, because
accc only deals with triangles.<br>
You also have to remove degenerated triangles (with 2 or 3 points at

Hi All: I'm a Torcs newbie, having just discovered it some weeks ago. I was looking for a racing sim with exportable tracks, as I wanted to use a race track on a POV-Ray scene I'm planning, but was too lazy to model it myself. After expending a few days racing and learning about torcs, I got addicted, forgot about my original goal, and started to "port" some of my cars to Torcs, to race with them. Here is my most succeful attempt so far, a Citroen GS: http://www.ignorancia.org/uploads/torcs/torcs-20070820133349.jpg http://www.ignorancia.org/uploads/torcs/torcs-20070820133350.jpg http://www.ignorancia.org/uploads/torcs/torcs-20070820133403.jpg http://www.ignorancia.org/uploads/torcs/torcs-20070820133407.jpg It is derived from my own model, wich I modeled with Wings3d two years ago: http://www.ignorancia.org/en/index.php?page=Citroen_GS I've exported it to 3DS format from Wings3D and then imported it with Blender, reduced the poly count to about 2000, and from there I exported it to the AC format needed by Torcs. No acc nor xml for the moment, as I'm still learning (discovering?) all the internals: I just used it by replacing the acc from other car xml file. Also, there is no UV mapping at the moment... I promise to make it public when it is finished. Well, and now the mandatory newbie question: does the actual mesh geometry affect the car behavior? Or only the xml description counts? (of course, any other tips to make a car will be greatly appreciated) Finally, thanks to the developers for such a great sim! I hope to contribute in the future not just with cars, but also with some tracks... Regards, -- Jaime Vives Piqueres La Persistencia de la Ignorancia http://www.ignorancia.org |

But yeah, the idea was that you are always facing 'forward', so the x, y angles correspond to your pitch and roll, i.e. how much inclined your car is and how much it banks. (As you know, when you roll 90 degrees and then pitch by x degrees, it's the same as when you yaw x degrees and then roll 90 degrees). In any case, angles are useless. Just take whatever vector interests you, use the appropriate (global or local) rotation matrix, then project it to whatever plane you want to have a direction for. > > I have an other question, is there a way to know if a question > has been yet asked in a previous mail (like a search tools in > the old mails)? > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/torcs-users > Now Search log events and configuration files using AJAX and a browser. > Download your FREE copy of Splunk now >> http://get.splunk.com/ > _______________________________________________ > Torcs-users mailing list > Tor...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/torcs-users ---AV & Spam Filtering by M+Guardian - Risk Free Email (TM)--- |

In fact, since interface/ contains public interfaces, this is correct. The private/public distinction is semantic and related to what the driver should know. Regarding DynGC and DynGCg, those are actually copies of each other as far as angles are concerned. (And angles are not used any more in simuv3 anyway). |

Hello, I recently use torcs and I have some questions! In fact, it isn't really questions, but more remarks : In the structure tCarElt (in the file interface/car.h) we define fields which are called "private" and some other which are called "public" (see the comments beside the definition) but, as they all are defined in a same structure, which contain no "public:" or "private:" keyword, everybody can access to any field, there are no restriction! So why are these comment here? Is it for preparing an other version of torcs where the keywords will be present or are the "private" field not instantiate when (for example) the "drive" method is call (the drive method has a tCarElt parameter) or ...? The second remark concern the _roll _pitch and _yaw field (always in file "interface/car.h") For example, the _yaw field is defined as pub.DynGC.pos.az . But, if I have really understand how the tCarElt is build, pub.DynGC represent coordinate of the car in the car reference, and for me, that mean that the X-axis is oriented in direction of the front of the car, the Y-axis is oriented to the right of the car and the Z-axis is oriented to the top of the car. So I don't understand how the angle around the Z-axis between the car and the reference can represent the angle of the car. It should be pub.DynGCg.pos.az. And it is the same things for _pos_X _pox_Y and _pos_Z which are defined as pub.DynGC.pos.x, etc... and not as pub.DynGCg.pos.x thanks in advance mobi PS : sorry for my bad english=0A=0ACr=E9ez votre adresse =E9lectronique p= ren...@la... 1 Go d'espace de stockage, anti-spam et anti-virus int=E9gr=E9s. |

The problem is that the configure assumes a variable is set and performs an invalid change if it isn't. It should not assume it is set. Setting it solves it but fixing the script to handle the condition properly solves it in a more usable way. This has passed here at least once before and I've run into it on Slackware too. |

hi, I use Ubuntu 7.04 and I find an error during the installation of torcs. when I run to the terminal this command line: $ ./configure # --prefix="target dir", --enable-debug or --disable-xrandr might be of interest I have this error: checking for XOpenDisplay in -lX11... no configure: error: Can't find libX11. Please check config.log and if you can't solve the problem send the file to tor...@li... with the subject "torcs compilation problem" But I find the solution, change the command line: $ ./configure # --prefix="target dir", --enable-debug or --disable-xrandr might be of interest into this command line: # ./configure --x-libraries=/to/libs --x-includes=/to/includes The game install and run correctly. I find this solution in this page: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/linux-applications/57759-gtk-wont-compile-cant-find-xopendisplay.html I think some people have find this problem and my idea is to put this solution in the page of : TORCS 1.3.0 Download & Installation. Thank you for your attention and sorry for possible english error. bye _________________________________________________________________ Scarica GRATIS 30 emoticon per Windows Live Messenger 8.1 http://www.emoticons-livemessenger.com/pages/msnit/index.htm |

Section 4.4.3 of the FAQ also says something about this [1]. with a wheel and pedals ? are there any tips regarding wheels/pedals
(I am about to buy soon)

Helllo,
I had installed torcs on Fedora Core 7 (with yum install).
This is x86_64 machine.
I start the game, and it crashes a short while (usually after there is
an accident, but not always).
After reading the FAQ I tried also "torcs -s" but it did not help.
It does not seem to be a problem of updating drivers (because this
Fedora Core 7
is not an upgrade but a fresh install).
The messaegs I see are:
torcs
Visual Properties Report
------------------------
Compatibility mode, properties unknown.
WARNING: ssgLoadTexture: Cannot determine file type for './(null)'
Bad Car category for driver cylos1
GfParmCheckHandle: parameter "Front Wing/angle" out of bounds: min:0
max:0.20944 val:0.261799 in ("NASCAR RWD" -
"drivers/lliaw/tracksdata/car_g-track-3.xml")
Bad Car category for driver Tanhoj
GfParmCheckHandle: parameter "Front Wing/angle" out of bounds: min:0
max:0.20944 val:0.523599 in ("Tanhoj" -
"drivers/tita/tracksdata/car_g-track-3.xml")
OpenAL backend info:
Vendor: OpenAL Community
Renderer: Software
Version: 1.1
Available sources: 1024 or more
Available buffers: 1024 or more
Dynamic Sources: requested: 1003, created: 1003
#static sources: 21
#dyn sources : 1003
*********************************WARN_ONCE*********************************
File r300_vertexprog.c function valid_dst line 333
Output 3 not used by fragment program
***************************************************************************
/usr/bin/torcs: line 52: 3490 Segmentation fault
$LIBDIR/torcs-bin -l $LOCAL_CONF -L $LIBDIR -D $DATADIR $*
does the "ssgLoadTexture: Cannot determine file type for './(null)'"
error has any significance ?
Any ideas?
Regards,
Ian
