Hi Bernhard, Thanks for your reply. I guessed it to be so too. Anyway, I find that the use of a third party frame/video capturing software, such as FRAPS, will be more ideal if the function is to be used in conjunction with a human driver. Just thought someone might be interested to conduct a similar experiment. I see Vista isn't under the supported platforms, but gave it a shot anyways. All the menus work, except it crashes every time I make a display change. But when I try to race, I get the "Ready", and hear sounds, but all else is black. Any chance I can run TopologiLinux or something similar to run the Linux version? |

Once frame capturing is disabled by toggling, the frame rate This is normal with the current implementation. The simulation renders the required frames according to the settings (e.g. 30 frames per second in "simulation time"). Because the writing to the disk and image encoding to png requires quite some time the "simulation time" is not in sync with the "real time", so it is best if you let do the robots the driving. When you combine your captured images to a movie you will get a smooth video. Hi all, I have a USB steering wheel (Logitech Inc. WingMan Formula Force GP) which works with jstest (jstest /dev/input/js0). I can "fly" with it in GL-117. But I can't make TORCS recognize it! I try to follow instructions at http://torcs.sourceforge.net/index.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=10&page=2 but nothing happens when I turn the wheel or press the buttons. There is no [Calibrate] button on the screen. TORCS does not recognize my Attack 3 joystick either. Running jscal does not help. I have Fedora 7 which is updated to the latest packages available via yum: torcs-1.3.0-1.fc7 plib-1.8.4-8.fc6 <-- this is from fc7 repositories despite of the name! kernel-2.6.23.15-80.fc7 I have reported this in Fedora Bugzilla as well, see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=433503 Regards, JJ |

Hello of friends and user of Torcs. After I transferred from Torcs 1.2.4 to version 1.3.0 I miss painfully the drivers from the Olethros group. I hope among you someone can make the enclosed olethros.dll from the version 1.2.4 for the version 1.3.0 executable. Then one could miss with long distances more easily without the un-executable Hymie drivers. If the computers claims a file doesn't exists, and I think it should exists, I
usually check it myself and find out why the computers things it doesn't
exists.
So in this case, take a file which causes a
error: "/home/therealg/mywork/torcs-1.3.0/export/include/track.h". Check it
with "ls /home/therealg/mywork/torcs-1.3.0/export/include/track.h". It
properbly says it doesn't exists. Then you go up a directory, so you
try "ls /home/therealg/mywork/torcs-1.3.0/export/include" until it doesn't
cause an error message. Then you look closely to the files which does exists
in the last directory (by replacing "ls" by "ls -l" on the directory which
doesn't cause an error message). How to resolve that error depends on the
results on the steps before, but usually adding symlinks works (or correcting
a type error somewhere).
I would also suggest to not use the "My work" directory. You have a symlink,
and it seems to need that symlink, so why not start by entering the Torcs
source through the symlink. In this
case, "cd /home/therealg/mywork/torcs-1.3.0" and then ./configure {options}
and make.
Regards,
Mart

Hi Matt, Thanks for your reply. The difference in the two paths seem to be the problem. However, a)mywork is already a symbolic link to 'My work' folder ih /home/therealg/ - i had created it to specifically avoid problems that arose due to blank spaces within the folder name. b)setting the MAKE_DEFAULT and TORCS_BASE doesn't seem to help. I continue to get the same error message.. Could any other setting cause this problem ? This doesn't look as the right arguments for ./configure. /usr/include/X11 is a directory with include files and not with library files. I expect --x-libraries=/usr/lib (or something like that) is better, however it isn't the cause for the error messages. > When I do make, I get the following messages(below). I expect the second directory doesn't exists. It seems to have difficulties with the capital letters and the space in the directory name. The reason for it is in the values comes from the variables TORCS_BASE and MAKE_DEFAULT. If you set them yourself, change it to the right directory. If that isn't the case, the best way to fix it is to make a symlink from /home/therealg/mywork to /home/therealg/My work. The following command should create that symlink: ln -s /home/therealg/My\ work /home/therealg/mywork Regards, Mart |

Hi torcs users I'm new to torcs and trying to install it on to my laptop(Ubuntu, gutsy gibbon on x86). I followed the instructions and did a ./configure --x-libraries=/usr/include/X11/ from within the torcs-1.3.0 folder. When I do make, I get the following messages(below). I think there is some error. I'm able to do a make install and make datainstall but the installation isn't getting completed. For example:-'torcs' executable isn't extracted to /usr/local/bin(the default target). Also a folder for torcs is not created in /usr/local/lib as mentioned in the installation instructions. Could someone please advise me on what could be wrong? I have constucted a new track called „The green Hell“.
It works very well and all the cars (include supercars) and original
drivers run very fast.
But when the Program will initial the new Drivers from hymie_sc1.dll or
hymie_sc2.dll
the Program ends without comments…..(no crash)
On all other (smaller) Tracks the hymie_sc drivers run without problems!!
The track-dates: Length=24650; XSize=7448; YSize=3674
What is wrong in theese dll´s ??????? Who can repair it ?????
With many Thanks for your help
