I think this is a problem with the objects, Jürgen likes it to place loads of trees and grandstands on the track. furthermore, the grandstands are also marked with a simple pixel in the obj-map, but there are often bars with many pixels in the map, so you have many grandstands instead of one. cheers, sebastian > > AFAIU my graphics card is supposed to be reasonable for gameplay. Smaller numbers reduce > field of view and increase frame rate. Thanks for that tip Brian, I will try it. Although the bigger problem is how the rate slows dramatically on some tracks, but perhaps it is a problem with trying to play with a wide-view screen. It happens more often on S-D compared to torcs and is generally worse, i.e. some tracks that are not a framerate slowing problem with torcs but are with S-D. I can still have plenty of fun on others though. nepal. |

They are all now included and work. Thankyou very much for those too. :) I now have too many tracks. ;) unless I miscounted, I have 72 tracks now! and 45 cars. I am having some difficulties with S-D and framerates, and for some reason it happens mostly with your tracks. I cannot play hhr-classic as the frames start at under 30 and often will drop below double figures. The tracks with lots of texture seem to be most affected. By comparison, the F1 tracks provided by Manfariel (not including the new F1orza) work great often at framerates above 200, but there is a great deal of variation to it all. AFAIU my graphics card is supposed to be reasonable for gameplay. It is an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS (I am led to believe is an above average card) and the latest 195 driver. With all the recent updates to Kubuntu and various kernels, I wonder if I should recompile S-D? still, many thanks for your help and the tracks, I will certainly have fun getting familiar with those I can play on for now. nepal. |

First try first sight, 9m 02s. The problem I have is from the bulletin board. If I go to the page for NBR there are a number of different options on the page, here: http://t- xchange.co.cc/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17&sid=f31f687435656fa7132ad6c4240875a9 however following that link stays within the txChange bb and says the selected attachment does not exist anymore. The same for all the links on that page. I have tried all the links for both tracks and cars. There are many that show the above message and go nowhere. So far I have downloaded and have working Buzzard0Raceway, greenhell, jumper. Zandy dumps me out of the program and I cant get street-noris-V04 to show in the selections. Cars I have dl'd gtc-s34r skyline, works but is pretty undriveable, wrc-blue-gem good, similar to the scuby in pw-rally set. Also have troc-cammy-85, but there is no nascar category in which to put it. I did something similar to load the rally cars, but don't remember now. Well I've tried copying over the Nascar.xml from the older version of torcs but still don't get it as a category to select cars from. Once I've finished loading up these and trying them, I'm going to do the same with the torcs version I have installed here too and see how that goes. But once again Sebastien, thankyou for the link to Greenhell, hehe, my idea of heaven! :) nepal. |

Hi all, hi Eckhard, For all those who don't know t-xchange: it's a page where everyone can load up his tracks and cars, it's some kind of host for every kind of torcs/SD content. It hasn't been working for a long time but now it works again. So please everyone: load up your things (in fact it's a torcs board where you can put a link to your track) and/or send nice screenshots to mic...@go... the link is http://t-xchange.co.cc/forum/ Cheers, Sebastian Am Dienstag, den 16.02.2010, 21:17 +0100 schrieb ba...@ne...: > Who? Hi all, In the following, I just copy a text from txchange into this mail, Michi, the Administrator of txchange, needs some nice screens as background images for the new txchange page. EN: Hi there, i want to update the theme here. For this, i need some background pictures. So post your best screenshots and i will add them to the new theme! The Screenshots should have a minimal resolution of 1024*600 pixels. Please post them without watermarks and in real colors, i will add your Username to the image. So i can edit it how it is here needed (that every image has the same style). thx 4 posting michi DE: Servus, ich möchte hier ein neues Theme einbauen (neben dem Uploader). Danke schon jetzt michi I think that we (SD and TORCS) are the right adress for this! cheers, sebastian |

Hello friends of Torcs and SD! After long time txChange in the 2nd edition functions under well-known address again!!! Meanwhile also nearly all tracks are again available. If Kimi woke up…. ' < , also its two tracks could be updated. I must say however that all the USR robots in SD with the Track " Tuttlingen" have very very large problems. That is valid also for the 36GP-simplix-Robots on the Track " monandgo"!! According to my opinion still some tests (Anrew + WDB) would be necessary. Cheers Jürgen |

Hi, Kilo, and all. > a) the carset on the right when choosing opponents be based on the > car type of the player Very easy to implement : simply initialize the "car type" filter "combo-box" to the one of the (first) human player is one is selected (only at Driver Select menu activation time). A small item for which we should definitely add a Trac ticket and select as a candidate for 2.0. > b) simple way to delete all opponents by one click One simple button to add in the menu. A small item for which we should definitely add a Trac ticket and select as a candidate for 2.0. > c) save different race setups (this also points to being able to save > a game in the middle of a race, too). Save race setups : I suppose only for QuickRace and PracticeRace (other modes already have this kind of feature, but with strong constraints) ; probably not that complicated to implement ; but we'd need to define precisely what a "race setup" is (include only opponent list, or also a track, or a list of possible tracks, or ...) This item is already in the WIP 2.0 feature list (but still no priority). Being able to save a game in the middle of a race : I suspect this is much more complicated, as we'd have to save the race state (=> raceengineclient). This item is already in the WIP 2.0 feature list (but still no priority). Cheers, Jean-Philippe. |

I think the above is a good suggestion, so I propose to: a) the carset on the right when choosing opponents be based on the car type of the player b) simple way to delete all opponents by one click c) save different race setups (this also points to being able to save a game in the middle of a race, too). I will propose the above changes to be included in SD, dunno if Bernhard likes these or not but I think they are valuable addition. cheers kilo Gabor Kmetyko -- http://three.sentenc.es |

Hi. I mean alpha test. This is a track floating freely in space. I cannot se needed improvements as I made this track and have become blind on it. I doubt not that many improvements are to be found. Please tell me everything you find. This is a short track 2400m so the task isn't that big. A lot of videos exists on races and trackdays on this track. Please, watch videos and drive on the track and compare and suggest improvements. Now, am I not going to tell what track it is? Well, ok, if you wish... It is the track called Gelleråsen at Karlskoga Motorstadium http://www.karlskogamotorstadion.com/ A version on it exists on Racer where it is called Carlswood but I hope my version is more accurate. Hi Peter, I kinda like your track. My suggestion to make it even better: Have a look on the high-quality tracks of torcs or speed dreams (speed-dreams.org) and "steal" some textures, the default textures of torcs aren't nice. cheers, sebastian Am Samstag, den 13.02.2010, 10:57 -0800 schrieb Peter King: > Hello all, > > Last year I built a track on my Ubuntu Linux box;s default torcs > install version 1.3.0. Hello all, Last year I built a track on my Ubuntu Linux box;s default torcs install version 1.3.0. I wanted to test the track with Version 1.3.1 before I uploaded and got a bit stuck on building from source. I'd pretty much given up due to time constraints (too many projects, too little time!) when yesterday, almost nine months later, I found myself downloading the torcs windows binary. Good news is that my track kinda works :) Bad news is I had to resort to Windows :( Anyway It's only a simple track really but I thought that I might be fun, or useful? I enjoyed building it and used the track building tutorial for guidance. I haven't added anything but the default graphics at this stage so some visual improvement might not go astray. The shadows are abit wonky but still provide OK effect (IMHO). As for Drivability I only ever use a QWERTY keyboard so I'll defer to others for advice on that. The File is a bz2 archive (7-Zip will open it in windows) called HILLCLIMB-1.3.0-0.03.tar.bz2. Just extract it into the road tracks. Here's a link: http://www.filedropper.com/hillclimb-130-003tar. Improvement Comments would be welcome. Enjoy, sprintea86 P.S. I tried the TxC site but couldn't post. |

I have been trying the new Speed-Dreams along with the latest version of torcs for my distro, ubuntu. I don't know if this is a valuable suggestion or not. The way I play with s-d is to choose a car. The different cars require different styles obviously and that is how I choose, do I want slide or speed. Then my requirements for the racing competition will be based on the class of car I'm driving, for example if I choose a rally car I want to race against other rally cars. I then have the pain of going through the selection procedure to assemble a reasonable set of drivers/cars to drive against. It would be so nice if I could save sets of these competitors. Or I have to delete the set of drivers/cars that are presently selected. Hope this makes sense. nepal. |

In both systems, I can drive one lap and get a frame rate that might go to 70 or 80 fps, then during the second lap, the frame rate drops to below 20, sometimes to single figures. This is usually on the slope down to the last chicane leading up to the last bend of the lap. Because of this slowdown in frames, I have to stop or be sick! ;) It looks really good, all the new buildings and features surrounding the track really add a lot to the realism and texture of it. Great job. The track itself is 10m wide which does not feel like 10m to be honest. On the final bend, just as you are turning into it, there seems to be an odd flat bit that suddenly pulls you into the bend, although it could just be my mistake. hey manafriel, I have really enjoyed (and still do) your f1 tracks. In torcs, I like to race them with the "pw" rally cars. Great fun. Thank you for those tracks. nepal. |

Hi Manfariel, Great work! Just a few things: - Torcs trademarks like on the old forza original, but this shouldn't be too difficult to fix -The image used for the screens (REF.png) is a) always the same and b) non-free, it shows real f1 cars and the f1 logo. Maybe a nice screenshot from SD could be used? Apart from this, it's reeeeally great, like it very much. cheers, Sebastian Am Donnerstag, den 04.02.2010, 12:24 -0800 schrieb manfariel: > hi > > Just now I uploaded to my site the f1orza (monza) track beta. > > Enjoy and suggest > -------------------------------------------------------------------- > > http://apr-free.info > Recursos para Torcs, Cante y Técnica TV. > > > > ____________________________________________________________________________________ > ¡Obtén la mejor experiencia en la web! > Descarga gratis el nuevo Internet Explorer 8. > http://downloads.yahoo.com/ieak8/?l=e1 > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation > Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business > Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts > Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. > http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com > _______________________________________________ > Speed-dreams-users mailing list > Spe...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/speed-dreams-users |
