Hello all, i have gathered some notes while playing the last test version on Windows XP. - Restarting a race consumes each time some amount of memory (several MB), seems to be a leak somewhere. - If there is a file directly in tracks directory or a folder not containing a track, configuring a race is not possible, track selection does not open. - With openal selected in sound settings i hear no sound for gear change and collisions. Engine sounds of other cars are played with loud crackling. I don't have this problem when plib is configured. - Sometimes too less fuel is refilled by default while pit stop. In Aalborg i had 2 litres less than needed, in Alpine 2 3 litres. If i look in the code, i see the fuel consumption is computed different before start and in pits. The factor 0.0008 used before start seems to be big enough for trb cars, while pitting the value 0.00065 is used, which is too low. For driving car5-trb1 12 laps in Aalborg i have computed an average factor of 0.0008, in Alpine 2 0.00071. This still will be not enough for Formula 1. Thanks for this great game Eugen ________________________________________________________________________ Schon gehört? Look carefully ...................... here | : the -L argument is empty !
Please take a moment to browse into recent (2 or 3 monthes) posts
of torcs-devel, and you will find a workaround (some small change into
configure.in, IIRC)

Hello,
Thanks for solutions, it helped to install Torcs, but now I have another
problem:
sudo make datainstall
did not work:
oot@Feniks:~/Pulpit/TORCS/torcs-1.3.0$ sudo make datainstall
[sudo] password for Coot:
make[1]: Wejście do katalogu `/home/Coot/Pulpit/TORCS/torcs-1.3.0/data'
make[1]: *** Brak reguł do wykonania obiektu `datainstall'. Stop.
make[1]: Opuszczenie katalogu `/home/Coot/Pulpit/TORCS/torcs-1.3.0/data'
make: *** [installdatadirs] Błąd 1
Thus I just copied the catalog data to /usr/local/share/games/torcs
and the game starts, but then there is a segmentation fault:
Coot@Feniks:/usr/local/share/games/torcs$ torcs
Visual Properties Report
------------------------
Compatibility mode, properties unknown.
/usr/local/bin/torcs: line 52: 7130 Segmentation fault
$LIBDIR/torcs-bin -l $LOCAL_CONF -L $LIBDIR -D $DATADIR $*
I'm using kubuntu and I could also install the game from repositories, but
then after I run the game in the middle of a first lap a segmentation fault
appears as well.
Best regards and
Thanks
Marcin

Hello,
When I compile Torcs from source code on my laptop:

the program is unable to find libx11, in the attachment I send You my

Hello Marcin, I think you can compile torcs and solve your problem by using: ./configure --x-libraries=/usr/lib/ By the way, maybe you need the X libraries. I've used the following commands to compile torcs from the sources in ubuntu. Download fron www.torcs.org the sources. sudo apt-get install plib1.8.4-dev sudo apt-get install libghc6-openal-dev download and install freealut from the internet ./configure make sudo make install sudo apt-get install libxmu-dev sudo apt-get install libXxf86vm-dev ./configure --x-libraries=/usr/lib/ make make install make datainstall Hope this helps ----- Mensaje original ---- De: "tor...@li..." <tor...@li...> Para: tor...@li... Hi Marcin,
./configure (blah blah) --prefix=/usr/local --x-libraries=/usr/lib
the last one resolves your problem.
Cheers

As Stephan said, its a problem with your robot not the opengl driver. A few code-related things to check:- a) has your robot compiled correctly? If not, TORCS won't see it. b) Have you renamed the main robot function? Eg if you've used bt as a starting point you'll see a function called bt() - change it to whatever you've called your robot module. c) have you renamed the bt.xml file to whatever your robot's name is? That's all I can think of offhand. Also you might like to look at locus as an alternative to bt:- http://locus.webng.com/other.html cheers Andrew > Hello All, > > i am a new user of torcs and i am keen to use torcs and to develop my > first own robots. This is due to a problem in your bot; if this was related to OpenGL/DRI, you'd have this problem with other bots as well. It can be a bit hard to find the exact cause of your error, but by commenting out code in your bot, you'll eventually find it. > Hello All, > > i am a new user of torcs and i am keen to use torcs and to develop my > first own robots. Hello All, i am a new user of torcs and i am keen to use torcs and to develop my first own robots. I used to follow the installation tutorial from Bernhard Wymann which helps a lot. I used torcs 1.3.0 instead of torcs1.2.4. After the installation i could run torcs and played a Quick Race. Than i tried to build my own robots with the help of Berni's robot tutorial and realized that there is no menu item in the practise mode where to choose my robot. And when i try to change the configuration in "configure race" by pressing button "Accept" torcs crashes.. So i can play a normal race but i cannot choose my robot. I get this error message on terminal: /usr/local/bin/torcs: line 52: 5966 Segmentation fault $LIBDIR/torcs-bin -l $LOCAL_CONF -L $LIBDIR -D $DATADIR $* The FAQ section on www.torcs.sourceforge.net mention under "4.3.1 Broken OpenGL/DRI drivers or '~' file." the following: * You have buggy OpenGL/DRI driver, you should update to a recent version. Start TORCS with the "-s" option to disable multitexturing. * You have edited a TORCS XML file (e. g. endrace.xml) and your editor left a copy with an appended "~" (e. g. endrace.xml~). Remove those "~" files. (By the way my error message contains "line 52" not "line 54" as in the FAQ.) So, i tried to start torcs with option -s but it does not help. I searched for "~" files but there is none. Maybe my openGL/DRi driver is not the correct one. I use kubuntu 6.06 and the latest versions of the following opengl related libs are installed from the kubuntu repositories: libgl1-mesa,libgl1-mesa-dri,libgl1-mesa-dev libglu1-mesa, libglu1-mesa-dev, libosmesa6, freeglut3,freeglut3-dbg,freeglut3-dev The installed driver for the graphic card is i810 which seems to be suitable for my Intel Corporation 82852/855GM. I do not know what to do. Do i use the wrong mix of libraries? I hope that you have an idea how to solve my problem. Regards Bjorn |

Hi Everybody, I'm trying to adjust the GUI structure of our beloved racing game. I cannot seem to locate the files needed to do that. All I can do so far is altering the backgrounds to images that please me a bit more. Any info on the exact location of those files and gui programming are welcome. greetz and happy racing.
