Hi! I don't know about Mac OS X, but in Fedora there was trouble until recently. Version 1.3.1 works. See the Fedora Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=433503 "torcs does not recognize a wheel (or joystick)" I guess plib is used to handle the joystick? Morning all, The joystick does not work in Mac OS X 10.4 either. I use the joystick in flight simulators without any trouble at all, but Torcs cannot see it. It is a USB device. Is reading the joystick done through OpenGL? is it possible to create a new track category, besides road/oval/dirt? for instance I;d like to create a category for F1. I tried to create a F1 folder and place a new track within it but torcs would not allow me to enter "configure race" section until I deleted that folder. Hi Widigya > Hi, I'm having my last year of my study in a university and I'm using the latest version of TORCS program as an important element for my final year project (FYP). My FYP is to make a simulator machine with my team, my main purpose is to connect the game and the controller to a couple of motors in the simulator platform. I'm having some difficulties in understanding the program. I need to find some parameters or function, they are: parameters/function when the car hits an object (another car or wall) and the direction where the car would be heading to, another one is the parameter/function when the car goes out of the racetrack. I need those parameter in order to make inputs for motor in the simulator platform. Thank you. For further information, please contact me by email. The "core simulation step" is performed in raceengine.cpp, ReOneStep, just attach with the debugger and set there a breakpoint and exlore TORCS from there, it should be trivial to catch the values you require. Let us know about the outcome of your project, it sounds interesting. Bernhard |

No idea, but check if you did the "calibration" after the axis selection, choose "calibrate" in TORCS. You can read the how-to drive (you can find it in the Windows TORCS menu) or on the TORCS website: http://torcs.sourceforge.net/index.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=10 Hope this helps Bernhard |

So On Windows XP, latest Stable TORCS. Joystick works properly in the OS and other games. I set up my player in TORCS [I'm using a ps2 to usb converter for my ps2 controller]. Ive tried POV Left/Right for steering, and Both Axis's LEft/Right, Callibrate them and it says "Calibrated terminated'..i guess its supposed to do that. I save and Apply, and no matter what I do I cannot turn left or right with the Joystick. Using either stick or the pov keys. How to fix? Otherwise, TORCS would be pretty awesome. |

Hi, Kennet. I personaly remember this kind of run-time issues with my distro's built-in OpenAL ... and that the only way was to rebuild it from sources and be carefull about compile / link and runtime pathes to be consistent. Mandriva 2008.0 x86_64 Hope this helps. Cheers, Jean-Philippe. |

Hi,
I decided to try the CVS simuv3 version of TORCS and I have some issues
to report.
First I had some trouble compiling it, but I solved it by including:
#include <string.h>
#include <cstring>
#include <stdlib.h>
in Options.h.
It may be that #include <string.h> isn't necessary by I hope I haven't
destroyed the future of mankind by including it.
A minor issue is that the wheels of the historic cars are only white discs.
A little more serious is that the game crashes (it just stops,
sometimes with a black screen, sometimes with a view but nothing happens
in the window and it doesnt respond) when I run with the trb-cars.
The -d option gives:
OpenAL backend info:
Vendor: OpenAL Community
Renderer: OpenAL Soft
Version: 1.1
Available sources: 256
Available buffers: 1024 or more
Dynamic Sources: requested: 235, created: 235
#static sources: 21
#dyn sources : 235
Program received signal SIGTERM, Terminated.

The program is running. Exit anyway? (y or n) [answered Y; input not from terminal]
It seems that TORCS isn't responsible for this but perhaps someone knows
where someone might be interested by a possible bug report.
Uname -a:
Linux rosebud 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Wed Apr 1 20:53:41 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I compiled with (eventually, it took many tries):
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=amdfam10 -O2 -msse3 -pipe -fpermissive -mtune=x86_64 -fPIC"
CXXFLAGS=$CFLAGS
Um, when I now think about it, TORCS didnt compile with PLIB 1.8.5 (no matter how I compiled PLIB), it did however when I downloaded the PLIB 1.8.4 and 1.8.4-dev from the Ubuntu repository. Could that be the culprit?
Regards
Kennet

Hi, I'm trying to compile the torcs-1.3.1 "all-in-one" source package on my Mac. After a lot of changes (including applying the torcs-1.2.4 mac os patch) I got it to compile but am stuck at the final stage. The problem is during the final linking of all the libs into torcs-bin. The error is: g++ main.o linuxspec.o -L/Users/Kartik/torcs-1.3.1/export/lib -L/usr/X11/lib -L/usr/lib -lracescreens -lrobottools -lclient -lconfscreens -ltgf -ltgfclient -ltxml -lplibul -lraceengine -llearning -lplibssgaux -lplibssg -lplibsm -lplibsl -lplibsg -lplibul -lglut -lGLU -lGL -lpng -lz -ldl -lopenal -lXrandr -lXrender -lXxf86vm -lXmu -lXi -lXt -lSM -lICE -lXext -lX11 -lm -o torcs-bin ld: in /Users/Kartik/torcs-1.3.1/export/lib/libracescreens.so, can't link with bundle (MH_BUNDLE) only dylibs (MH_DYLIB) collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I had changed the line 481 in Make-default.mk to have "-bundle -flat_namespace -undefined suppress" instead of "-shared", following the steps here: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_name=20050305035948.50648.qmail%40web41013.mail.yahoo.com Any hints? How was the 1.2.4 Mac binary built? -- Kartik Mohta A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? |
