Hi all, the new torcs version is a realy nice game, thank you all for making this possible. I have installed the windows version (v1.2.3). Opening the result files with a browser is not working, because the reference to dtd and xsl files is not correct. For dtd this should be "../../config/params.dtd", for xsl "../../config/style.xsl". At least this should be true for the windows installation, i don't know how the linux directory structure looks like. Thanks, Eugen |

We have planned to distribute Ubuntu CDs, which are Debian-based, so the games would be for Ubuntu. Albert. |

Hmm, which other data files? It contains everything, you have just to check all the options? Or do you mean to remove the options and install everything without choice (this would be possible)? Be aware that this binary might not run on some distributions because of dynamic linking. Hi all, I've seen the new embedded install script for torcs 1.2.3 package and I have to say: "This is awesome!!" I really think it will help non-power users wanting to install it on Linux. Related to our (http://iglu-cat.net) aim to distribute CDs with torcs, I was wondering if a package like that could be prepared but that contains the fully fleshed torcs, including all the other *-data* files. Looking forward to hearing from you, Bests, Albert. |

Returned message "artsdsp works only for binaries" Checked the script in /usr/local/bin, and found it called a binary called torcs-bin, so modified it to call artsdsp $LIBDIR/torcs-bin instead. Same result as calling it without the sound server. > - disable sound daemon. That's a little more difficult to check. I'm using the stock SuSE kernel and alsa installations (as updated with YOU). They should be synchronised, but how would I tell? > - driver bug? Might be, although it works with all other applications I've tried. > - plib bug? Again, might be. I recompiled it from the SuSE src rpm to get Torcs to compile (needed -fPIC). I was hoping someone else has run across the same problem. Found references to the same messages on google, but they referred to FlightGear. Some references suggested the sound-card needs to support 8bit audio (!), others point to a bug in plib. -- David Haggett |

Hope you can help. I've upgraded from the VIA sound chip built in to my Athlon64 motherboard to a Terratec DMX 6Fire 24/96 PCI card. I've got the card configured with Envy24Control, and the sound is phenomenal for CD Audio, mp3/ogg, DVD, Doom3 - even BZflag seems to give 5.1 surround. Torcs loads OK, but just after clicking "New Race" it freezes and I get a whistle/wine out of my speakers. Starting it in a console returns the following: WARNING: slScheduler: Too many pending callback events! WARNING: slScheduler: Too many pending callback events! WARNING: slScheduler: Too many pending callback events! WARNING: slScheduler: Too many pending callback events! WARNING: slScheduler: Too many pending callback events! over and over again, so quickly that it fills the Konsole Buffer immediately. Strangely, If I start it with something playing in xmms, although it can't play sound (complains it can't access soundcard), it actually does get past loading the graphics and is playable. I'm running torcs 1.2.2 compiled from source on SuSE Linux 9.1 AMD64. Is there a simple config tweak, or do I have to do something specific to get envy24 support? Thanks in advance -- David Haggett |
