If you start the game in a shell window (Linux anyway, perhaps in windows too) you can see a lot of warnings about the xml files, an example: GfParmCheckHandle: parameter "Rear Left Brake/piston area" out of bounds: min:0.0025 max:0.02 val:0.0015 in ("Maserati Ghibli" - "cars/kc-ghibli/kc-ghibli.xml").
I realize this isn't one of the worst problems facing mankind right now but perhaps someone with right to change the code can look into it if time permits.
A few of the historic cars seems to be much overpowered, what are the thoughts of this here?
Regards
Kennet

Ehm, it is named acc, because it is acc, and not ac;-) The second "c" is not just for fun. The acc files are processed for TORCS with a tool written for TORCS (it does basically do some optimizations for rendering and prepares the environment/shadow texturing). The "source" file of the cars is usually named "...-src.ac", or just ac. You can find them in the full source tarball or in the CVS. Beware, like stated in the README not all models are under a free license. I would like to include your Free Art License and GPL car models in a site dedicated to free content 3d computer graphic that I created. But the .acc files provided in the data package are "strange" (at least to me). They are only segments with no surfaces, and the segments seems to be a little random. Are they standard ac3d files? Where can I find the model with surfaces or how can I convert your files to standard ac3d? Your files are "strange" because there are no triangles or quads but only a lists of points like this SURF 0x34 mat 0 refs 22 38 0.26405 0.21391 0.61190 0.84654 0.28687 0.87648 0.05397 -0.24157 39 0.20950 0.16694 0.76286 0.69419 0.21606 0.63335 0.13027 -0.33069 38 0.26405 0.21391 0.61190 0.84654 0.28687 0.87648 0.05397 -0.24157 37 0.21150 0.15310 0.79299 0.72427 0.23787 0.61789 0.14883 -0.31292 35 0.30154 0.19311 0.63632 0.89377 0.40526 0.94328 0.06258 -0.10221 36 0.22078 0.14070 0.81869 0.72794 0.27253 0.62191 0.16084 -0.26978 35 0.30154 0.19311 0.63632 0.89377 0.40526 0.94328 0.06258 -0.10221 34 0.24437 0.11900 0.85784 0.73502 0.35323 0.63376 0.17723 -0.17082 25 0.32933 0.17921 0.64354 0.90210 0.50000 0.95790 0.06494 0.00000 33 0.27044 0.10364 0.87625 0.74026 0.43703 0.64644 0.18269 -0.07185 25 0.32933 0.17921 0.64354 0.90210 0.50000 0.95790 0.06494 0.00000 26 0.29089 0.09584 0.87766 0.74488 0.50000 0.65535 0.18050 0.00000 25 0.32933 0.17921 0.64354 0.90210 0.50000 0.95790 0.06494 0.00000 24 0.31032 0.08582 0.87625 0.74026 0.56297 0.64644 0.18269 0.07185 25 0.32933 0.17921 0.64354 0.90210 0.50000 0.95790 0.06494 0.00000 27 0.33923 0.07661 0.85784 0.73502 0.64677 0.63376 0.17723 0.17082 28 0.35825 0.16777 0.63632 0.89377 0.59474 0.94328 0.06258 0.10221 29 0.37135 0.07342 0.81869 0.72794 0.72747 0.62191 0.16084 0.26978 28 0.35825 0.16777 0.63632 0.89377 0.59474 0.94328 0.06258 0.10221 30 0.38694 0.07470 0.79299 0.72427 0.76213 0.61789 0.14883 0.31292 31 0.39884 0.15368 0.61190 0.84654 0.71313 0.87648 0.05397 0.24157 32 0.39884 0.08234 0.76286 0.69419 0.78394 0.63335 0.13027 0.33069 I expect a list of triangle or quads, like this SURF 0x30 mat 0 refs 3 38 0.26405 0.21391 0.61190 0.84654 0.28687 0.87648 0.05397 -0.24157 39 0.20950 0.16694 0.76286 0.69419 0.21606 0.63335 0.13027 -0.33069 38 0.26405 0.21391 0.61190 0.84654 0.28687 0.87648 0.05397 -0.24157 SURF 0x30 mat 0 refs 3 37 0.21150 0.15310 0.79299 0.72427 0.23787 0.61789 0.14883 -0.31292 35 0.30154 0.19311 0.63632 0.89377 0.40526 0.94328 0.06258 -0.10221 36 0.22078 0.14070 0.81869 0.72794 0.27253 0.62191 0.16084 -0.26978 SURF 0x30 mat 0 refs 3 35 0.30154 0.19311 0.63632 0.89377 0.40526 0.94328 0.06258 -0.10221 34 0.24437 0.11900 0.85784 0.73502 0.35323 0.63376 0.17723 -0.17082 25 0.32933 0.17921 0.64354 0.90210 0.50000 0.95790 0.06494 0.00000 I only read this file http://www.ac3d.org/ac3d/man/ac3dfileformat.html today, I'm not an expert of 3d file formats. In addition your models displays differently in ac3d and imported in blender (wrong in both cases, but better in blender) to me. Did I do something wrong? Or are the files non-standard? Or what? I'm the only one with this problem? |

Hi Martin > Instalation ok, it is possible to turn the game on, do some settings, but > when I'm going to race, program loads track, cars and so on, then it > writes "Ready", waits for a few seconds and when it almost seems to start > it crashes. On stdout is written: > /home/spirk/torcs/lib/torcs-bin: relocation error: /home/spirk/torcs/lib/lib/libopenal.so.0: symbol __snprintf_chk, version GLIBC_2.3.4 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference > libopenal.so.0 => /home/spirk/torcs/lib/lib/libopenal.so.0 (0x405c4000) As workaround you can try to install the OpenAL of you distribution and then delete the OpenAL libs from /home/spirk/torcs/lib/lib (a link and the file). Please let me know if this helps. Bye, thank you for the report, Bernhard. -- Visit my homepage http://www.berniw.org Official TORCS racing: The TORCS Racing Board, http://www.berniw.org/trb |

Hello all great people developing and using TORCS :), I'd a problem when I wanted to configure source in FC6 ... It told that; checking for XOpenDisplay in -lX11... no configure: error: Cant find libX11. Please check config.log and if you cant solve the problem send the file to tor...@li... with the subject "torcs compilation problem" While I'm sure I'd everything installed; To solve this I'd to run ./configure this these options; ./configure --x-libraries=/usr/lib/ --x-includes=/usr/include/X11/ It worked nice then :) |

I did download torcs 1.30 binary package with installer and installed it
on Debian Etch. When I try to run it I get this error:

$ torcs
./torcs: line 53: 11799 Illegal instruction $LIBDIR/torcs-bin -l
$LOCAL_CONF -L $LIBDIR -D $DATADIR $*
I get the same error if I use command ./torcs -s

I just downloaded the Torcs 1.30 sourcecode and tried to compile it on Debian Etch. When I run ./configure it fails with error: checking for XOpenDisplay in -lX11... no configure: error: Can't find libX11. Please check config.log and if you can't solve the problem send the file to tor...@li... with the subject "torcs compilation problem" I have installed packages libx11-6 and libx11-dev. If I try to locate libX11 I get this: $ locate libX11 /usr/lib/libX11.a /usr/lib/libX11.so /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 /usr/lib/libX11.so.6.2.0 System details: $ uname -a Linux debian 2.6.17-2-k7 #1 SMP Wed Sep 13 17:18:46 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux Debian Etch has Xorg 7.1 |

Hi, here is a report about new torcs version from binary installer
(torcs-1.3.0-linux-glibc-2.3-pIII.bz2.run).
System Mandrake 10.1, Pentium IV, some ATI
Instalation ok, it is possible to turn the game on, do some settings, but
when I'm going to race, program loads track, cars and so on, then it
writes "Ready", waits for a few seconds and when it almost seems to start
it crashes. On stdout is written:
/home/spirk/torcs/lib/torcs-bin: relocation error: /home/spirk/torcs/lib/lib/libopenal.so.0: symbol __snprintf_chk, version GLIBC_2.3.4 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
