Manic Monday Bonus--Colan's Captain Marvel!!

Just because no one ever talks about it, here is some of Gene Colan's work (with Vince Coletta inks) back in the early days of the Kree Captain Marvel.

The first hints of the Kree-Skrull war:

Yes, Roy wrote it. I think he'd come back to the idea...

Super-Skrull vs. motorcycle!

Invisible Super-Skrull vs. Mar-Vell...

Swooping down...

Mar-Vell vs. Namor...

Look, no one was going to ever make that green & white costume look good. But Gene still did a pretty sweet job...

From Captain Marvel #2-4 (1968).

Technically, the correct title for the first six issues of the book was Marvel's Space Born Superhero! Captain Marvel--yes, exclamation point and all--because who knows why. But there's no way I'm going to type Marvel's Space Born Superhero! Captain Marvel over and over again...

Friday Night Fights--A Mother's Love Style!!

The lesson of this week's Friday Night Fights? Don't mess with Sue Richards!!

The Super-Skrull has infiltrated the Baxter Building, disguised as Franklin, looking for some of Reed's scientific equipment.

So where is Franklin? That's what his mother wants to know!!

Super-Skrull--not so tough!

Spacebooger knows it's summer because Sue would never wear white after Labor Day!!

Galactic beatdown delivered by Robert Kirkman and Cliff Rathburn in Fantastic Four: Foes #4 (2005)

Now is the time for you to go and vote for my fight. Why? Maybe if enough of you do, Marvel will notice and give us back a Fantastic Four book. Maybe? Sigh...Just go vote!!

Friday Night Fights--Super-Skrull Style!!

It's SS vs. SS in tonight's Friday Night Fights!!

The Silver Surfer is on his way to Earth for an errand...

God, I hate that pretentious dork.

Anyway, the Van Allen belts flair up, and there, revived from allegedly being dead, is--

Well, they chill awhile, chatting about how the Super-Skrull managed to survive this time, when...

YEAH!!

WOK! BAM!!

Sadly, the Eternals, on a mission for the High Evolutionary, intervened before the Skrull could finish the Surfer for good...

Spacebooger misses those events that took place across all of a company's annuals.

The Silver Surfer gets only 1/1,000,000,000,000,000,000 of what he deserves in Silver Surfer Annual #1 (1988), by Steve Englehart, Joe Staton and Joe Rubinstein

Now is the time for you to go and vote for my fight. Why? Because, sadly, the Super-Skrull is as close as we're going to get to seeing the Fantastic Four these days. So go vote!!

Friday Night Fights--Uru Anti-Force Style!!

No cutesy prelude or clever into for this week's Friday Night Fights--just balls-to-the-wall fighting!!

Loki has mentally influenced the Super-Skrull to return to Earth and seek out Thor. He makes Skrully believe that defeating Thor will put  him back in the good graces of Skrull leadership.

So the Super-Skrull tears up Manhattan, calling out Thor. And that's what he gets...

And...it is ON!

And our non-violent Silver Age coda?

SPOILER ALERT: The banishment certainly was not eternal...

Spacebooger wonders if the Super-Skrull might be the loophole to sneaking the Fantastic Four (or at least their powers) into the Marvel Cinematic Universe...

Pages and pages (and pages) of earth-shattering fighting brought to by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Vince Colletta in Thor #142 (1967)

Now is the time for you to go and vote for my fight. Why?? Thor invented a new power for this fight!! Who else gives you that kind of quality?!? So go and vote!!
