Manic Memorial Day Bonus--Don't Tease Us, Answer Man!!

From the Ask The Answer Man column in The Unexpected #185 (1978):

OK, Bob Rozakis and Al Milgrom, silly dismissive answer aside...

THERE IS NOW NOTHING IN THE WORLD I WANT MORE THAN A JONAH HEX/MAN-BAT TEAM-UP!!

Rebirth, anyone?

Headline Least Likely To Ever Appear Again

Then again, given the recent fascination in the nu52 with Man-Bat, we'd get a slightly different headline.

After all, no heroes are "welcome additions" to crime-fighting right now--that wouldn't be broody or sacrificy enough. Every hero has to be Silver or Bronze Age Spider-Man or Hulk, hunted by the police or opposed by the U.S. military, constantly saving us even though we distrust and hate them.

Still there's a chance a modern Man-Bat headline wouldn't just be the "Threat Or Menace" variety.

No, the nu52 headline would go

MAN-BAT SLAUGHTERS CHILD PORNOGRAPHER WHILE HIS CHILDREN WATCH

with the sub-headline

BATMAN LOOKS ON APPROVINGLY

sigh...

The Secret Origin Of Justice League Dark--In 1985?!?

Random chance has a bunch of freaky heroes coming together to thwart a plot by Felix Faust: Man-Bat, Black Orchid, Madame Xanadu, Phantom Stranger, Blue Devil, the Creeper, and Etrigan!!

After they settle Faust's hash, the Creeper has an idea:

"A Spooky Justice League Of America"?!?! This is it, then, right? The real beginning of Justice League Dark?

It's going to happen, right?

Nah.

So close, and yet so far.
