hey folks-

i've done a bit of work on the Vimulator stuff over the last couple days,
mainly rewriting the command line/status bar/ruler support. i also implemented
'/'. 'n' (find next) works.

the ':' command in command mode works, but the Ex command entered is not yet
interpreted.

it's in CVS:

module:	plugins/Vimulator
tag:	vimulator-20010331

i've tried it with jEdit 3.0final and 3.1pre3.

I noticed that under Windows L&F, the "Name" column of the upper pane is
displayed in serif, while the font for the rest of the window is sans-serif.
On both panes, the "Name" column in the selected row is displayed black on
dark blue instead of white on dark blue and is nearly impossible to read.
The "Directory" column in the selected row makes the proper change to white
foreground.  It all looks fine under Metal, but apparently you have some
fixed values for the "Name" column's cell renderer that get treated
awkwardly under the Windows L&F.

Currently not, sorry.

There is a very minor bug in Buffer List, it does not refresh the view when
the "show absalute pathname in filename column" in global options is
changed.

Hi,

i recognized, that shortcut-definitions only are
exchanged for textarea's only. When i tried to use my
redifinition of copy="C+INSERT" for example in
find-dialog, only std. shortcut copy="C+c" was
available.

I think you bounded the dialogfields and so on to the
wrong KeyListener, which has only the std. shortcuts
inserted.

If you modify your codes to eliminate this bug, it
might be usefull to allow more than shortcut for a
command. So it is possible to have "C+c" and "C+INSERT"
for the copy command at same time. This would be a
realy usefull and feature.

This is not really a bug. jEdit makes no attempt to modify
Swing keymaps, and I'm not particularly intersted in
implementing this functionality either.

I know that Perl's rather weired syntax makes it difficult to highlight, but here is another issue:

Whenever you use the the $` builtin variable, JEdit apperently interpretes it as the start of a 
backticked shell command, quoted string or something simular. In order to notice the the bug, you 
have to change the default highlighting-colors, because within the falsely quoted text-region JEdit 
still applies some, but not all, syntax-highlighting rules. "Keywords 1", for example, are still 
recognised but not highlighted as "Keywords 1", but as "Keywords 3", which defaults to the same 
color.

Current Workaround:
Don't use $`, use $PREMATCH instead. It does the same thing, you have to issue a "use English;" 
at the start of you program though.

there have been a number of reasons at various times, but i've tired of them
all. i'm going to package and release the DrapAndDrop plugin from the CVS in my
next PC update.

I was wondering why the Drag and Drop Plugin is not making it into the
precompiled collection of plugins that can be installed online. It seems
to work fine and is around for quite a while already.

Checkout the latest version from the CVS:
Tag:    jdiffplugin-1_2_1 
Module: plugins/JDiffPlugin

Or get an updated version with binaries at:
http://www.jedit.org/devel/people/akaplan/

Install it manually.

Then tell me if it's OK.

The updated version works fine with folding.
I won't release this version until jEdit 3.1final because it's incompatible 
with jEdit 3.0.2

the JDiff Plugin does not seem to work with jEdit 3.1pre3. It get the following call stack when in select Plugins->JDiff->DualDiff. After that I get a split window each one with those 2 difference bars and the windows are obviously not connected to each other. I only can get rid of the difference
bars by creating a new view and abandoning the old one.

I have the newest version of JDiff, use Sun JDK 1.3 on Windows. The JDiff plugin works in conjunction with jEdit 3.02 although in did not check if it is the same version. Any ideas?

Quick Incremental Search doesn't work after startup.
Here the scenario.
Start of jEdit.
Switch to BufferList. 
Select a session.
Select a file from the List.
Position the Cursor in the edit pane.
Select 'Quick Incremental Search'.
It doesn't work.
Now use the normal find function. It works.
After that Incremental Search works also.

I cannot reproduce this using jEdit 3.0.2, BufferList 0.5.

How do you invoke "Quick Incremental Search"?
Via menu, or via shortcut, or by clicking in the search 
text field?

Any errors in the activy log?`

First problem:  If you are running under jdk1.3, try 'cd 
$d' then 'java $n'.

Second problem:  Console is not a full shell.  You cannot 
interact with a process through Console once the process 
starts.  Also, Console only runs one process at a time.  It 
treated '2' as a new command.  Use Console to start a 
native command interpreter and interact there.

I also used to see this with certain VM's prior to the AntiAlias plugin.
It hasn't really been a problem of late. However, this problem is
exacerbated by the AA plugin if the option to use fractional font
metrics is selected. I would try not using that option, or removing
the plugin as a first pass at fixing the problem.

I saw similar behavior starting in jEdit 3.0.x, on Red Hat Linux 6.2 with
IBM's JDK; In italic text (comments, et cetera), actual cursor position and
carat display would often be separated by three or four characters.

This occurred before the release of the AntiAlias plugin, so I doubt it's
related.  Being rather pragmatic, I solved this problem by removing italics
from all styles. ;-)

Hi,

if I turn "Electric (auto scroll) borders" on, it only applies to vertical
scrolling. I would like this for horizontal scrolling, too. Is this
possible?!?

Do you have the AntiAlias plugin installed?
If yes, try switching it off, or uninstall it.

Could you supplement with your OS, jEdit version and the 
font you are using in the text area (from 
Utilities>GlobalOptions>Text Area).  Also any error 
messages in Activity Log on startup.

Summary: caret not where text is being put

Initial Comment:
When i type on the screen the caret is about 3 or 4 
places from where the characters are being put on the 
screen.  I've got most of the plugins installed and 
i'm using jdk1.3.  This happens when the caret is set 
to block caret and blinking caret.  Great text editor 
but this is making it pretty useless for me.......
