Bugs item #746706, was opened at 2003-05-31 12:02 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=746706&group_id=588 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: print is throwing an exception in macros Initial Comment: The macro source is the following one liner: print("Hello, world!"); and is causing the following exception. The crazy thing is that this was working until JEdit locked up and I can to kill the process. Since then, I haven't been able to print even though I've completely uninstalled jedit and my .jedit preferences. Crazy. Sourced file: /home/rnix/.jedit/macros/test.bsh : Attempt to invoke method: print() on undefined variable or class name: output : at Line: 1 : in file: /home/rnix/.jedit/macros/test.bsh : print ( "Hello" ) at bsh.Name.invokeMethod(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHMethodInvocation.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHPrimaryExpression.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHIfStatement.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHBlock.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHBlock.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHIfStatement.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHBlock.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.BshMethod.invokeDeclaredMethod(Unknown Source) at bsh.Name.invokeLocalMethod(Unknown Source) at bsh.Name.invokeMethod(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHMethodInvocation.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.BSHPrimaryExpression.eval(Unknown Source) at bsh.Interpreter.eval(Unknown Source) at org.gjt.sp.jedit.BeanShell._runScript(Unknown Source) at org.gjt.sp.jedit.BeanShell.runScript(Unknown Source) at org.gjt.sp.jedit.Macros$BeanShellHandler.runMacro(Unknown Source) at org.gjt.sp.jedit.Macros$Macro.invoke(Unknown Source) at org.gjt.sp.jedit.gui.InputHandler.invokeAction(Unknown Source) at org.gjt.sp.jedit.EditAction$Wrapper.actionPerformed(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.AbstractButton.fireActionPerformed(AbstractButton.java:1764) at javax.swing.AbstractButton$ForwardActionEvents.actionPerformed(AbstractButton.java:1817) at javax.swing.DefaultButtonModel.fireActionPerformed(DefaultButtonModel.java:419) at javax.swing.DefaultButtonModel.setPressed(DefaultButtonModel.java:257) at javax.swing.AbstractButton.doClick(AbstractButton.java:289) at javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicMenuItemUI.doClick(BasicMenuItemUI.java:1113) at javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicMenuItemUI$MouseInputHandler.mouseReleased(BasicMenuItemUI.java:943) at java.awt.AWTEventMulticaster.mouseReleased(AWTEventMulticaster.java:227) at java.awt.Component.processMouseEvent(Component.java:5134) at java.awt.Component.processEvent(Component.java:4931) at java.awt.Container.processEvent(Container.java:1566) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEventImpl(Component.java:3639) at java.awt.Container.dispatchEventImpl(Container.java:1623) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(Component.java:3480) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.retargetMouseEvent(Container.java:3450) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.processMouseEvent(Container.java:3165) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.dispatchEvent(Container.java:3095) at java.awt.Container.dispatchEventImpl(Container.java:1609) at java.awt.Window.dispatchEventImpl(Window.java:1590) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(Component.java:3480) at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(EventQueue.java:450) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:197) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:150) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:144) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:136) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:99) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=746706&group_id=588 |

I've noticed a few problems people have been having with background mode, missing icon and the cocoa libs not being found. The 4.2 bundle will fixes all that. You can get it here: http://www.jedit.org/devel/jEdit.app.tar.bz2 Kris |

Hi, When I run jEdit with a non-standard settings directory I get this error: [error] [Xrefactory] can't find installation directory. [error] [Xrefactory] neither /home/slava/.jedit/jars/, /home/slava/jedit/jars/ [error] [Xrefactory] or /usr/local/share/jedit/4.1/jars/ contains Xrefactory.jar You need to obtain user's settings directory with jEdit.getSettingsDirectory() -- and check if its non-null! (-nosettings switch). -- Slava Pestov |

Well, imagine you have 3 views open, all of them spit in 4 text areas... this is not too far-fetched. Then you do a 'close all'. This opens an Untitled buffer, and 4.1 would croak because it would be showing in all 12 text areas. -- Slava Pestov |

I'll take a look. I made changes to the keyboard handling in pre2 but I didn't expect it to break any plugins... PS: Thanks for all the bug reports. I'm not sure if this is the fault of 4.2pre2 or if I got a new version of SpeedJava during the upgrade, but now you can't type letters that don't match one of the completions, so instead of just continuing to type when you don't want a completion, you have to close the popup first. I think it was much friendlier the other way. Brad |

I think there's something more than that. I'm loading the driver manually when it says it can't find it. I've echoed the classpath in the Console and the driver is still in it. I'm thinking it might be related to the new plugin loading because the drivers are loaded in the plugin's start() method. I still haven't figured out how it would affect its ability to find the driver though. I'm not sure how jEdit could be affecting this but... I've been working on a new plugin which keeps its data in a MySQL database. It worked fine in 4.1 final, but in 4.2pre2, I get 'No suitable driver'. Is jEdit somehow interfering with loading the MySQL driver? Brad |

This is going to be awesome once all the plugins are updated for the API changes. People that wait for 4.2 final to upgrade aren't going to know what hit them. I thought the plan was to have the Console plugin updated along with 4.2pre2? I'm sure you've got it under control though. >- Fold visibility information is now stored in a more efficient manner. > Folding should be faster and more robust. Also, the limit of 8 text > areas editing the same buffer has been lifted. > > I am deeply, truly scared of any source file that needs to be open in more than 8 text areas. ;-) Maybe if you're maintaining the phone system?
