begin Slava Pestov quotation: > There was a bug report some time ago about the 'sort lines' command > not working if there is a selection. Has this been fixed? John did the updates and I haven't yet checked things out, so I'm not sure right now. -md |

Errors and extra lines are always passed to ErrorList Plugin but never any warnings. I noticed from my console output session - warning reg lines are not treated (they are not red colored). This has been seen in jEDIT 4.0pre3-4 but it was not tested under jEDIT 3.2.2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2002-01-31 13:56 Message: Logged In: NO I remove all BCC32 patterns in properties files. Neither errors nor warnings are shown. I suppose this clearly show no other pattern is confused by. yours ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: John Gellene (jgellene) Date: 2002-01-31 11:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=117073 That is helpful, but if I could ask you for one more test, could you delete the BCC pattern and see whether the output is the same. It is possible that another pattern is picking up your output and not passing control to the BCC "warning" pattern when the other pattern misses. This would be a bug in the pattern matching algorithm, which tests the various stored patterns in a given order. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2002-01-31 10:51 Message: Logged In: NO Here is configuration as found in "properties" file : console.dock-position=top console.error.BCC32.filename=$1 console.error.BCC32.line=$2 console.error.BCC32.match=Error E\d+ (.+) (\d+)\: (.+) console.error.BCC32.message=$3 console.error.BCC32.name=BCC32 console.error.BCC32.warning=Warning W\d+ (.+) (\d+)\: (.+) console.error.user=BCC32 console.font=monospaced console.toolbar.enabled=true I'm currently using console to launch BCC32.exe of C/C++ free Borland compiler 5.5. I get warnings regularly with compiler output and the built-in patterns, so it is important to know exactly what is exhibiting the problem you are seeing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=511145&group_id=588 |

Slava and Philip Mateescu reported that the new version could not find a JAXP class when it parses a build file, and I'm trying to replicate and then identify the cause of the problem. I have not looked at documentation in relation to a 4.0 build, but I assume it will just be ++version. Finally, the display behaves a little differently from 3.2.2 the first time a build file is selected at startup; I may have to undo something I did. I suggest these steps be completed before an upload to Plugin Central. I am sorry I do not have your development version. Because of the missing classes on CVS I did not try porting it to the jEdit 4.0 API. Did you post it to one of the mailing lists? I think the MARC archive may retain attachments. On the subject of plugins for promotion, I posted on jEdit Community an 4.0 update for XInsert that looks stable in my installation, I don't know if Dominic has seen it. The source code does not appear to be on jEdit CVS; I would import what I've got if Dominic doesn't mind, or upload it wherever it should go. In my insane zeal to get 4.0 plugins in shape, I did a small modification of TextTools (because I love to sort and transpose!). Mike, the code is in CVS and I assume you don't need anything further on that one. Does anyone know what might be happening with JDiff? I think that may the last "major" plugin needing a port. John |

I think more two things are needed: using relative buffer locations using the Buffer API, and simplifying the options so that in this version there is a fixed format of comment-token|whitespace|comment-tag|:|whitespace|comment-text. Other features (like multi-line comment, fancy displays, multi-file listings) could wait for a future release. Hey- If any of the plugins currently on jEdit Community should go to Plugin Central in the next batch, could somebody please make sure the CVS is up-to-date and give me a CVS tag and a list of changes? I'd like to release by tomorrow evening, if possible, as my queue is already getting a little big, even without releasing anything from jEdit Community. -md |

John, The JAXP classes are included in the XML plugin's xerces.jar file, and AntFarm worked before with these classes. So you broke something. It doesn't work for me either, BTW. I'm glad you fixed it. "We" didn't ignore the problem. "We" found the manufacturer's website and posted detailed instructions on how you could check your driver for a possible upgrade. But the fact that Sun's native AWT code appears to have choked on your video settings is not the result of a programming error in jEdit's source code. Yes, it was a problem. No, it was not a bug. I can't help but wonder what insight anyone could possibly obtain from these emails, except "kick the car and it might start". But insight is in the eye of the insightee. John |

The JVM can't find jaxp.jar, which is Sun's Java API for XML processing, and which is needed by both Ant and AntFarm. If you put it in your jre/lib/ext directory, you should not have to specify it as a command-line path element. You can get jaxp.jar from http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/index.html. Hi, I got AntFarm for jEdit 4 (pre4) and I copied the files to my jar folder. Trying to add a build.xml file to AntFarm yields the following error: Build file cannot be parsed: D:\apps\jedit4\jars\ClassWizard\build.xml java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory I lauched jedit with jedit -jar jedit.jar -settings=./settings (from jEdit4's folder)... It obviously misses the SAXParserFactory class. Where do I get it from, or am I supposed not to use the -jar option ? thanx, philip |
