Hi, I'd like to know how far anyone has gotten over the webstart direction of launching jEdit. I had a partial sucess, would be happy to share it. I am currently lock in the problems of help view which really seems hard to get rid of real files... Has anyone gone somewhat further ? Just because of this documentation trouble, I'm turning now back to installers. Paul |

Hello,
for the last week or so, I am unable to type any character that is
generated on my keyboard by using the AltGr-Key (right alt - I'm using a
swiss german keyboard).
Unfortunatly, important characters like [, ], { and } are generated by
pressing AltGr and ü, ¨, ä and $ respectivly, which renders the current
CVS versions completly unusable for me :-(
This happens when I am trying to write a ]:
Event KEY_PRESSED,keyCode=0x11,keyChar=0xffff,modifiers=0x2 filtered
Event KEY_PRESSED,keyCode=0x12,keyChar=0xffff,modifiers=0xa filtered
Event KEY_PRESSED,keyCode=0x87,keyChar=0x1d,modifiers=0xa filtered
Event KEY_TYPED,keyCode=0x0,keyChar=0x5d,modifiers=0x20 passed
Event KEY_RELEASED,keyCode=0x87,keyChar=0x1d,modifiers=0xa passed
Event KEY_RELEASED,keyCode=0x11,keyChar=0xffff,modifiers=0x8 filtered
Event KEY_RELEASED,keyCode=0x12,keyChar=0xffff,modifiers=0x0 filtered
What could cause this problem? I've tried removing my .jedit-Directory,
but it did not help.
My system (als always):
jEdit CVS
j2sdk 1.4.2
Windows XP
Many thanks in advance
Philip

Try: set JAVA_HOME=C:\Compiler\j2sdk1.4 set PATH=%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%PATH% I don't use Windows much anymore, so I hope I got the syntax right. I don't think it's necessary to set CLASSPATH to tools.jar. Run "javac" to test. You should get the "Usage" message. Steve Jakob On June 28, 2003 16:15, Rudi Widmann wrote: > Hi, > does anybody build jEdit with ant on the command line ? Hi Rudi, I build jEdit using ant (under Linux not Windows though). I think you need to set JAVA_HOME to the top directory of your sdk (not the bin subdirectory). I don't set a CLASSPATH at all (I just use the default). I build it by running ant (not java -jar ...) from within the top level jEdit directory which contains the build.xml. I presume that there is an equivalent ant.exe for you to use under windows. Cheers, Iain On Sat, 28 Jun 2003, Rudi Widmann wrote: > Hi, > does anybody build jEdit with ant on the command line ? Hi, does anybody build jEdit with ant on the command line ? Doing too many hacks, I sometimes crash jEdit, so I want to rebuild a better version via command line. I tried: set JAVA_HOME=C:\Compiler\j2sdk1.4\bin set CLASSPATH=C:\Compiler\j2sdk1.4\lib\tools.jar java -jar e:\jEdit\jars\ant.jar -buildfile E:\myjedit\jedit41final\jEdit\build.xml dist but I receive file:E:\myjedit\jedit41final\jEdit\build.xml:32: Unable to find a javac compiler; com.sun.tools.javac.Main is not on the classpath. Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK |

I am about to subscribe to the devel list for that but I had partial success on using jEdit with Java Web Start. Some issues about class-loading were relatively easily resolved. Then remains plugins' loading (that is plugins you want a JNLP distributio to have), this is not solved yet but seems to be easily done at least if part of the launcher I have to make anyways. My version is running a modified jEdit 4.1. The current bugs are: -> a jEdit-home still seems to be needed for modes... that was easily avoided (this is where a comment was made on, I think, jEdit.java -> (this is the bad one): a jEdit-home seems to be needed to read the documentation. And this is even more true if one wants to search in this documentation. I have no solution for this and I am turning to a jEdit-installer (still in JNLP) for now. The real bone in JNLP is that there is no single way to have a handle to the local jar we have loaded.... I guess a sort of jar-index would need to be packed with a jarred documentation and a VFS extension could be done. SInce class-loading is pretty dynamic, it seems anavoidable to use the "all-permissions" settings and that is sad. A future version of a JNLP port could avoid that. Still, in the current JNLP, jEdit couldn't be using, then, the delicious fileDialog and would be stuck with the ugliest Swing default one. Also, the "jeditresource:" protocol might be not applicable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=224420&group_id=588 |

The plugin already supports sftp (but not scp) using the www.sshtools.com library. First there seems to be a problem with downloading plugins this morning, otherwise my questions may have been answered by the plugin documentation... I was wondering how the FTP plugin works. Can I use it sort of like a file browser, connect to a host, open a file for editing, save it back to the host? If so, how extensible is the architecture? How hard would it be to add in scp? I do a lot of work with files on remote machines, but ftp isn't available. Ssh/scp is, so I either scp the file locally to edit or edit remotely with vi. Does it sound like a good idea to add scp to the ftp plugin? I've done some work with the jsch library from www.jcraft.com, which is a decent java implementation of ssh and scp. Maybe that is a good candidate for this functionality? Thanks, Dale Anson |

I think you misunderstood, the two plugins offer completely different functionality. XML does entity and element completion and shows a strucutre tree, XML Indent does formatting. Hi, A session's object lifecycle typically goes like this: - User invokes an I/O operation from the GUI. For example, opening a file. This takes place in the AWT thread, and creates a new VFS session using createVFSSession(). A work request is then queued if the session was created successfully. - The work request makes I/O calls (those that start with _). - When finished, the work request calls _endVFSSession(). Calls to _createInputStream() are not guaranteed to be balanced with calls to _createOutputStream(). So you need to handle locking some other way.
