I created a patch for the feature request: "#501 Auto-save untitled buffers".
Altough the settings "Autosave untitled buffers" exists, but not working like described in the feature request.
My patch extends this feature, when "Autosave untitled buffers" checked (default):
- the untitled buffers will be autosaved when closing jedit, without a question prompt
- the autosave for an untitled buffer saved to <jedit_settings_dir>/autosave, and reloaded after a restart (the state persisted to the perspective.xml)
- closing an untitled buffer by hand removes the autosave file

Tested on windows7 and linux also.
The patch is against revision 24609.
Please review.

Installed 5.4.0 over the top of 5.3.0, using Java 1.8.0_92 on Windows 10. The File Browser bottom pane, the table of content, no longer fills the full area of the splitpane, leaving grey space below, and to the side if expanded enough. The top pane with the tree of folders can no longer be expanded beyond the minimum size of the content.

No idea why but a couple of shutdowns and restarts and it's back to normal now so this can be closed. Sorry for the trouble!

I am running jEdit 5.4 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.4. 

It has a "grab handle" space in the lower right hand corner. I have tried "Metal" and "OSX" LnF and it doesn't "go away". 

I have attached a screenshot.

Actually, I've tried using tabs on one line and space on the other in Python. As long as all lines in the same block are consistent with each other, it should not matter if you use spaces for one level and a combo of spaces and tabs for the other, and just tabs on another.

With the current jedit trunk (and also the previous jedit 5.2.0 release) I
get the following behavior when using auto-indent == full and
tab width != indent width.
Here is an example with tab width == 8 and indent width == 4.
t_ marks tab, _ marks a whitespace.

int myfunc(int a)
{
____if (a==5) {
____t_  printf("Hello World\n");
____}
}
~~~~


But I would like to get (and I think this is also more correct):

int myfunc(int a)
{
____if (a==5) {
t_      printf("Hello World\n");
____}
}

So basically I want that the "printf" line simply uses one TAB and not a
combination of 4 SPACEs + one TAB.

The reason why I think this is more correct is, that when indenting the
whole function with "shift-TAB", then the indentation will be as in the
second example.

Velocity is not used by XML plugin.
One of its interfaces (RuntimeConstants) is implemented by the
TemplatesPlugin class of the Templates plugin, which is used by XML
plugin which calls TemplatesPlugin.getTemplateDir() to know where to
install templates.

Yes I think so too, are there others that are using velocity? I'm not sure,
but I think the XML plugin actually plugs into the Templates plugin and
depends on velocity only for that integration.

The updated Templates plugin indeed moved from velocity-1.5.jar to velocity-1.7.jar.
So the build.xml file needs to be updated if compiling against Templates 5.0.0. But  it builds when compiling against the required Templates 4.1.2.

XML works with either version of the Templates plugin. What shall I do? Revbump the dependency to Templates 5.0.0?

When I switch to Russian language hotkeys perform action twice. For example Ctrl+V inserts to copies of buffer one by another. English works fine.

I'm getting a compile error:

 I checked, and I see the velocity-1.7.jar on the classpath. Note that there was an update to the Templates plugin (5.0.0), which may have included a newer version of Velocity.

Thanks! I don't have any problem with the changes, I guess I wasn't paying
attention and didn't realize they were in the 5.4 release. I've been
running Java 8 for quite a while and upgraded my Ant to 1.10.1 today.

This is an XML mode file for the 32 bits ARM assembly language ( http://infocenter.arm.com/help/topic/com.arm.doc.dui0801g/DUI0801G_armasm_user_guide.pdf ).It follows the, as of 2017/02/10, current v6.6 release of the assembler.

The propossed entry in the catalog file is:

				FILE_NAME_GLOB="*.s" />

Find enclosed the .xml file, the catalog file and a source file for tests.

With the current jedit trunk (and also the previous jedit 5.2.0 release) I
get the following behavior when using auto-indent == full and
tab width != indent width.
Here is an example with tab width == 8 and indent width == 4.
t_ marks tab, _ marks a whitespace.

____t_  printf("Hello World\n");
____}
}

But I would like to get (and I think this is also more correct):

So basically I want that the "printf" line simply uses one TAB and not a
combination of 4 SPACEs + one TAB.

The reason why I think this is more correct is, that when indenting the
whole function with "shift-TAB", then the indentation will be as in the
second example.
