Thanks! With the addition of a few curly braces that works and has a visible
effect. (And I never would have thought this solution.)

I modified my jedit startup script to switch on swing antialiasing
(swing.aatext) for the other widgets. With java 1.5, it makes the
fonts easier on the eyes. The useSystemAAFontSettings is supposed to
do something with Java 1.6 but I don't think it works yet.
exec "$JAVA_HOME/bin/java" "-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=3Dlcd_hrgb"
"-Dswing.aatext=3Dtrue" "-Djedit.home=3D$JEDIT_HOME" -mx${JAVA_HEAP_SIZE}m
${JEDIT} -jar "$JEDIT_HOME/jedit.jar" $@
But it would be nice if one could grow/shrink the font sizes like you
can in the textarea... I might add that to infoviewer one of these
days.

Hi, Is there anything I can do to improve the help viewer font? It's a bit of a disaster on my system. Running jEdit v4.2final on Java5, Debian Sarge Linux. Andy |

Hi, If people decide to undertake such a change, I suggest using it as an opportunity to clean out a lot of dead wood from the plugins repository. A lot of plugins are either obsolete or unmaintained, and haven't compiled in years. If the SVN repository is better structured and can be built in a more automated way, more developers would contribute. Anyone doing anything about moving jEdit sources from CVS to SVN? I haven't been able to do anything with cvs at sourceforge for a couple of days now. It's not just the jEdit project, it's all of them that I've tried to work with. Dale |

>Comment By: Dale Anson (daleanson) Date: 2006-04-25 08:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=187628 I don't get this error with jEdit 4.3pre3, so I'm thinking it's a bug in the 'pre4' code. This is the code in Beauty that is initiating the error: // set new buffer contents: buffer.beginCompoundEdit(); buffer.remove( 0, buffer.getLength() ); buffer.insert( 0, contents ); buffer.endCompoundEdit(); I tried this as a macro, substituting "1 \n 2 \n 3 \n 4 \n 5 \n 6" in place of 'contents'. This fails also, but with a different error. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=1476152&group_id=588 |

Category: None >Group: 2006-04 >Status: Closed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Jakub Holý (malyvelky) Assigned to: Jeffrey Hoyt (jchoyt) Summary: TextAutocomplete - enhancements, jEdit 4.3pre3 (v 0.9.2) Initial Comment: Announcement: TextAutocomplete 0.9.2 1.Enhancements: attach/detach all buffers, im/export word list, start for each new buffer, 2.Bug fix:deal better with multiple views: the cursor tended to jump between buffers when editing in a split view - should be ok now 3.Updated for jEdit 4.3pre3 4.Documentation: how to control T.A. from beanshell Source Code: jedit CVS tag: RELEASE-0_9_2 Descriptions: This is a bug fixes and enhancement release. Additionally, the plugin has been updated for jEdit 4.3pre3. Bug fixes: * Prevent the cursor from switching buffer/view: When you edited one or two file(s) in a split view, it sometimes happened that you started writing in one and suddenly the cursor jumped into the another. This should be now fixed (We prefer jEdit.getActiveView over the remembered view). I'd like to thank Jeremias, who discovered the bug. New features: * Start for all opened buffers and Stop for all opened buffers * Start automatically for new buffers if desired * The number of remembered words is now limited to 1000, the limit may be changed. * It's now possible to export/import (append) the list of remembered words. The effect is that sometimes such composed characters can't be produced or that the dead key pressed twice or followed by space doesn't produce the sign itself. It has been reported zillion times but Sun has ignored it so far ("not reproducable"). Category: editor core Group: severe bug >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: deathtoll2001 (deathtoll2001) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: JEdit appears to not function with JRE 5.0 Update 5 Initial Comment: I have not been able to take the time to rollback the JRE install to confirm this, but I'm 90-95% certain that update 5 of sun java JRE 5.0 caused the JEdit GUI to load as a white block. Functionality appears to be there, but nothing can be seen. When the window is minimized, a "shadow" of the proper GUI appears instead of the window minimizing. This acts like a "Thruview" window which you can see, but you can't interface with (clicking activates whatever is behind it). Closeing the application results in the same. Refreshing the desktop causes it to go away. Uninstalling and reinstalling JEdit 4.2Final did not make a difference. I am running an AMD 64 1.8GHz with Windows XP Pro (32 bit) and an ATI Radeon X800XL. I will update if and when I am able to attempt rollback of the JRE update. This is by far the best editor I've even seen, so I really hope to be able to use it again soon! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: SourceForge Robot (sf-robot) Date: 04/24/06 19:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1312539 This Tracker item was closed automatically by the system. Do you see any errors in the activity log? You might have a plugin that isn't happy under that version of java crashing on you; you can check the file in your ${home_directory}/.jedit/activity.log. Another thing you could try is check whether there are updated video drivers for your video card; there have been issues with java + some DirectX drivers on Windows. I don't remember what's the command line flag to disable DX when running java though... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=1379267&group_id=588 |
