Interesting, I wouldn't have thought about that. I am using the Look and
Feel plugin with Substance look and feel. I used the Look and Feel plugin
to change the look and feel to "None" and now resizing works correctly.
Maybe I should see if there is a newer version of Substance available.

I had issues with jEdit on a laptop + second monitor setup as well. I
finally realized that it was the L&F that was causing the issue - I can't
remember the exact one, but it was one of the ones in the L&F plugin. I
tried various L&Fs, not all of them had the issue.

Is it a base install of jEdit? If not, and you're using the L&F plugin I'd
try changing it to nimbus or disable the plugin to see if that helps.

I got a new laptop, I'm running Arch linux, Java 7. Here's my situation:

Laptop only, no second monitor, jEdit window is totally resizable, hitting
the maximize button does just that, resizing works as expected.

Laptop plus second monitor,
   - When jEdit is on the second monitor, jEdit window is totally
resizable, hitting the maximize button does just that, resizing works as
expected.
   - When jEdit is on the laptop monitor, maximize only does about 3/4
height and won't fill the screen. I can't drag the edges and make it bigger
either.

How do I go about troubleshooting this situation? I work with two views
open fairly often with a view on each monitor, and it's annoying that the
view on the laptop monitor won't fill the screen.

If it makes a difference, I'm running a pretty bare-bones xfce
installation, no compiz or other fancy stuff.

Hi,

I use jEdit on a USB drive and before version 5.0 the JVM option "-Duser.home="  did work as expected. This system property is in current version ignored and the environment variable %APPHOME% is used instead on Windows machines.
The attached patch checks first if "-Duser.home=" was specified and use the provided location otherwise %APPHOME% is used.

Initial Comment:
Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 with Unity (also Windows 7). jEdit 5.0.0 and JDiff 3.3.0. If you split the window into 2 panes vertically (a left and a right pane), then turn on JDiff dual diff, then turn it off, then resize the jEdit window, the 2 panes originally created are still there after the dual diff is off, but they do not 'auto resize'. All the changes to the window width are forced upon the right pane; the left pane size does not change. Expected behavior after the dual diff would be the same as before: namely resizing the window wider/narrower should cause the 2 panes to each resize equally, maintaining equal widths.

When building jEdit,  why is the -source argument ignored when passed from ant? 
There is no way to check for and report errors when finding java7 expressions in jEdit, if you are using a java7 compiler.

Summary: Split window auto-resize disrupted by jdiff plugin

Initial Comment:
Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 with Unity (also Windows 7). jEdit 5.0.0 and JDiff 3.3.0. If you split the window into 2 panes vertically (a left and a right pane), then turn on JDiff dual diff, then turn it off, then resize the jEdit window, the 2 panes originally created are still there after the dual diff is off, but they do not 'auto resize'. All the changes to the window width are forced upon the right pane; the left pane size does not change. Expected behavior after the dual diff would be the same as before: namely resizing the window wider/narrower should cause the 2 panes to each resize equally, maintaining equal widths.

    Announcement: Fix to make it possible to accept a completion with the TAB key.

    Short Description: It's pretty similar to the jEdit's function "Complete Word" but it's automatic, you don't need to press any key to invoke the list of completions.
    
    Long Description: <p>TextAutocomplete collects "words" in the current buffer and those that you type and offers you automatically a list of possible completions as you type a new word. It's pretty similar to the jEdit's function "Complete Word" but it's automatic, you don't need to press any key to invoke the list of completions. The plugin was inspired by a similar functionality in OpenOffice.org.</p>

<p>The plugin is configurable, you can define what a "word" is, what words (not) to remember etc. - see the docs. It's also possible to modify manually the list of remembered words.</p>

<p>You have to start the autocompletion for every buffer where you want it.</p>

Hi Elberry,

I have updated the dependency in jEdit to 5.0 and modified build.xml to
enable building of javadoc (by setting the javadoc.packagenames property)
and have set docs-proc.target to none as you suggested.

However I do not now what to do to make sure that the javadocs are actually
build ("build" doesn't do it - "dist.complete" or "docs" do) and that they
will be included with jEdit so that I could link to them. How to do that?
Or should I just generate them myself, push them to SVN, and link to these
files?

Hi Jakub,
   I need to modify the build.xml file to set the docs-proc.target to
'none' since the documentation is pre-generated. I'd like to know if there
is a reason the jEdit version you require is 4.3  (really old). Since I'm
updating the build file is there any reason I shouldn't update the
dependency to at least 4.5 final? Ideally I'd like to upgrade it all the
way up to 5.0.0 since 4.5 isn't downloadable from the jedit.org website,
but 4.5 should be the minimum as we don't support 4.3 any longer.

There are references in the documentation I need you to fix though. There
are links that reference some javadocs but they are not found in SVN and
aren't generated in the "build" target. I'm not sure how you want to take
care of it, but it needs to be fixed before I can release the plugin
otherwise there will be broken links in your documentation.

For logging errors, it is better to use the jEdit "Log" class rather than
the swing logger API. 
We don't use the swing logger class anywhere else in the code.

Summary: jEdit.exe doesn't run with java 7

Initial Comment:
When new version of java (java version "1.7.0_10") was installed on my machine, jEdit.exe started to write that it needs version 1.6.0. Anyway the command javaw -jar "path/to/jedit.jar" works well, so it seems to that some too restrictive check unnecessarily blocks jEdit launcher to start editor with newer Java version.
