I actually do not know where to send my patches, so I send it to the list:

1) extend glob pattern with windows pattern

Even is the glob pattern for file filtering is a very powerful tool, its syntax is very 
uncommon for windows user. 
Windows tools often provide multiple file filters separated by ";", eg *.java;*.bsh;*.xml (as 
glob, this is {*.java,*.bsh,*.xml}
My improvement:
jEdit shall handle ";" as file filter separator

2) Reload when file status changed
===================================
Some configuration management systems checkout files and set the timestamp of the 
database to the file.
Therefore, if I have an unlocked version (which is read-only) open in jEdit, and I perform 
checkout, 
the file status changes to "writable", but jEdit doesn't detect that the file has changed 
(timestamp of database didn't change).
But, even if I have the same revision of this file, the file HAS changed, because of 
automatic variable substitution.

My improvement:
jEdit shall detect "FILE_CHANGED" if the file status has changed, too.

JEdit gets its print services from the underlying JDK. So
this is more likely a bug with the jdk you are using.

Can you please specify what jdk & distro of linux you are
using? Its unlikely that jedit can do anything to fix this
issue.

Try the following:

Fill multiple registers with content (C-r C-c + char).
Click in the left window of the RegisterViewer
("registerList")
on an item that is not selected.

Result: On pressing the mouse button some items are
cleared, on releasing it some more disappear.

It seems the DocumentListener and the
ListSelectionListener are not playing together nicely.

4.3pre2 contains some fixes for this - you do not specify
what version of code you were running. However the fixes in
4.3pre2 are not complete. I will check in  the rest of it
shortly.

Initial Comment:
With 4.3pre1 I keep getting a network unreachable error
when attempting to install a plugin. The plugin manager
will download and display the available list of
plugins, but I can't download any plugins to be installed.

This is on Linux with Sun J2SDK 1.4.2_06. It seems to
work fine on Windows.

"If I invoke the Plugin Manager and select the Update

I have the same problem. In addition, since a few days
I cannot visit the plugin websites (e.g.
http://plugins.jedit.org/list.php?category=1) or
http://community.jedit.org/ with my browser (Firefox
1.0.4) - the sites are loading (and loading and
loading) but not diplayed.

last days (since Mai, 20) Plugin Manager worked - and the
websites with lists of plugins were accessible.

But a few minutes ago the problem occures again:
Message from Plugin Manager:
Could not download the plugin list
(java.net.SocketsExeption: Unexpected end of file form server)

At the same time:
The websites with plugin lists are noy accessible. Message
displayed instead:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in
/home/groups/j/je/jedit-plugins/htdocs/list.php on line 20

Maybe I should send a message to ad...@je... or a
similar address. Because the behaviour of Plugin Manager is
affected I leave my message here.

cvs snapshot of jedit (4.3pre3).

This error report is similar to 848823 "Plugin Manager
Does Not Do Downloads" which is now closed.

If I invoke the Plugin Manager and select the Update
tab, no updates are downloaded.  I receive the
"Downloading plugin list from plugins.jedit.org"
message in the lower window and after a brief flurry of
modem activity there is no further progress. Eventually
it will timeout with the "Could not load the plugin
list" message.

I have replaced the server-side plugin list with a static
file, which should remove the performance issue with SF's
mysql server which lead to these timeouts.

I'm getting exactly the same problem:

Plugin manager hangs & either have to forcibly kill the
process or wait for around 5 minutes (literally) for the
"unexpected end of file" error to appear.

I'm using Java 1.5 JRE and JEdit 4.2

Interestingly... the Plugin Manager worked _once_, randomly,
in the middle of several attempts...  if it worked once, why
not all the time?

Just wanted to point out that I'm getting this same symptom
on Windows XP SP2 also while trying to use JEdit4.3pre2.  I
tried different jvms and the older version of jedit, so I'm
pretty sure this is a jedit problem.  Seems like there's
just a really long timout value on the plugin manager code
or something.  I've usually had to use the task manager to
exit the app.

This is the first time I've used the editor, so I haven't
been able to install any plugins yet.  I may try to
manually, but hopefully this is a temporary problem.  The
only place I've found this bug mentioned is here.

Me too. Same symptom on Mac OSX 10.4.1. Also, for the
several minutes while Plugin Manager is attempting to fetch
list from plugins.jedit.org, it's impossible to close jEdit
or otherwise abort the process (other than Force Quit.)

I have noticed that too.  I have tried both the Firefox and
Internet Explorer browsers and two different Internet
service providers.  The problem with Update might not be
related though.  I don't think Slava is maintaining the
Community part of the jEdit Website.

There has been no mention of the Update problem on the jEdit
Users mailing list, so I thought that I would check the
Message Boards before filing this bug report.  Alas, they
are inaccessible.

Hello,

I've created a patch that enables jEdit to jump to the given character 
position on command line.

It works like:
jedit <file> +line:<line>,<column>

For sake of simplicitiy in implementation I decided to reuse (overload) 
the meaning of the +line mark.

Hey,

This must be old news but I just realized it and was wondering if
anyone was working on it. It seems like the latest InfoViewer plugin
(1.2) won't work in jEdit 4.3, due to missing method in
org.gjt.sp.jedit.gui.DefaultInputHandler, namely parseKeyStroke(),
which was present in the 4.1 API and deprecated in the 4.2 API.

Is anyone using any alternativ plugin to view web sites instead of InfoView=
er?

Summary: Occasionally lose ability to use arrow keys, ctrl+<any>, etc

Initial Comment:
Occasionally while working on a file, I will lose the
ability to use arrow keys, key combinations like
ctrl+b/ctrl+c/etc, and keys like Del.  This sometimes
happens following a code-complete popup and affects all
buffers.  Once it happens, it doesn't fix itself until
I restart jEdit.

When this happens other keys seem to still work
correctly (I can still type) and input via right-click
mouse menus still work.

The only workaround I've found is to restart jEdit.

Using:
jEdit 4.3 pre 2 on Windows 2000
Sun JDK (Java SE) 1.5.0
(Editing files remotely using sFTP)

Just thought I'd tack on another vote of "me too."

Using jEdit 4.2final on OS X 10.3.9 with the latest version of Java, I can 
successfully reproduce this behavior *every* time merely by option-
clicking on the desktop to hide jEdit. When I switch back, the same keys 
refuse to work.

The only fixes I've found are to a) hit an alpha key (for example, type a 
letter and then just undo it) or b) restart jEdit.

I belive the same behavior occurs on 10.4.2, but I could be wrong.

This problem first appeared for me, too, when I switched to
using java 1.5 (under debian Linux) along with the alt-tab
problem I submitted in another bug report. I'm not sure, but
it seemed to me also to happen typically after a code
complete popup. All the other symptoms are the same: arrow
keys, ctrl-, etc., don't work, while typing, etc. continues
to work ok.

After compiling the new Version of the Plugins Jane &
CodeAid the CodeCompletion is working. 

Problems occure when there are linecomments of the form

in the code. Here the completion suggests the
javadoc-Tags in the popup. 

The Completion also does not work, when a new instance
is created with new and in the paranthesis is a
variable, which should be completed with a "."

Initial Comment:
When using here document syntax to echo text in PHP, 
the block is only terminated when the ending text 
appears on it's own line, with no extra whitespace (it's 
also case sensitive).  However, when syntax highlighted 
in jEdit, it is terminated if the text appears anywhere.  
Here is an example:

<?php
echo <<<END
This example uses here document syntax<br />
to output a block of text.  Here is a form: <legend>form</
legend>
...etc...

END;
?>

In that example, the syntax highlighting will stop at the 
<leg<b>end</b>> tag, even though the text "END" 
doesn't appear on it's own line and is in a different case.

I've fixed it in the php.xml file that I'm using locally (and that will  
make it into 4.3pre3 hopefully) by adding the 
AT_LINE_START="TRUE" attribute to the heredoc's <END> 
element. This is not perfect, but as close as the Edit Mode 
syntax allows, as far as I know.

You probably want to put it into ~/.jedit/modes and override the 
global/default one with a catalog entry in your user modes 
directory (see http://codeprobe.de/pub/jedit/catalog).

So I wanted to look if this error has been reported
already in the community forum under
http://community.jedit.org/?q=forum and got

This does not look good.

Matthieu,

Thanks.  It's a pain, I know, but it makes our packaging
process SOOO much easier.  I've packaged this and it should
be in the next batch.  I am not capable of giving this a
good workout, so if you want to test it as packaged to
verify it's OK, I've attached the jar file to this tracker.

Hi Jeff, in fact the
plugin.gatchan.phpparser.projects.version=1.0.0 is for
internal use of the plugin only, never displayed (and never
used for the moment).
It is the version format of the saved projects. If I change
that format in the future and if I am in the mood it must
help me to make converters.
So that's the reason why this projects version do not follow
the version of the plugin itself

All looks good except there are two versions listed in the
PHPParser.props file:

plugin.gatchan.phpparser.PHPParserPlugin.version=1.2.0
and
plugin.gatchan.phpparser.projects.version=1.0.0

What's the second one there for?  Should that one be 1.2.0
as well?  If it's supposed to be 1.2.0, just let me know and
I'll package it that way, but don't forget to fix the file
in CVS....

This error report is similar to 848823 "Plugin Manager
Does Not Do Downloads" which is now closed.

If I invoke the Plugin Manager and select the Update
tab, no updates are downloaded.  I receive the
"Downloading plugin list from plugins.jedit.org"
message in the lower window and after a brief flurry of
modem activity there is no further progress. Eventually
it will timeout with the "Could not load the plugin
list" message.

I'm getting exactly the same problem:

Plugin manager hangs & either have to forcibly kill the
process or wait for around 5 minutes (literally) for the
"unexpected end of file" error to appear.

I'm using Java 1.5 JRE and JEdit 4.2

Interestingly... the Plugin Manager worked _once_, randomly,
in the middle of several attempts...  if it worked once, why
not all the time?

Just wanted to point out that I'm getting this same symptom
on Windows XP SP2 also while trying to use JEdit4.3pre2.  I
tried different jvms and the older version of jedit, so I'm
pretty sure this is a jedit problem.  Seems like there's
just a really long timout value on the plugin manager code
or something.  I've usually had to use the task manager to
exit the app.

This is the first time I've used the editor, so I haven't
been able to install any plugins yet.  I may try to
manually, but hopefully this is a temporary problem.  The
only place I've found this bug mentioned is here.

Me too. Same symptom on Mac OSX 10.4.1. Also, for the
several minutes while Plugin Manager is attempting to fetch
list from plugins.jedit.org, it's impossible to close jEdit
or otherwise abort the process (other than Force Quit.)

I have noticed that too.  I have tried both the Firefox and
Internet Explorer browsers and two different Internet
service providers.  The problem with Update might not be
related though.  I don't think Slava is maintaining the
Community part of the jEdit Website.

There has been no mention of the Update problem on the jEdit
Users mailing list, so I thought that I would check the
Message Boards before filing this bug report.  Alas, they
are inaccessible.

on Debian). The sites are loading endless and dont display.
