Fixed in revision 24901. Just a note: the warning about failing to set the look and feel happens every time when you're using the Look and Feel plugin. jEdit calls initPLAF before the plugin is loaded, so the look and feel from the plugin is not available at that time. Moments later, the plugin will be loaded and the look and feel will be installed. --- ** [bugs:#4080] Look and feel plugin won't restore theme after JEdit restart** **Status:** open **Group:** normal bug **Created:** Sun Apr 21, 2019 10:30 AM UTC by McV **Last Updated:** Sun Apr 21, 2019 10:30 AM UTC **Owner:** Dale Anson **Attachments:** - [2019-04-21 13_28_13-Plugin Options.png](https://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/bugs/4080/attachment/2019-04-21%2013_28_13-Plugin%20Options.png) (16.8 kB; image/png) Hello guys! Yeah, I saw that too, all my *.g4 files were being detected as backup
files. I think I caused this bug attempting to fix bug 4069, which had to
do with empty backup prefix or suffix settings. I did some more work on
this about a month ago (revision 24899), but I like your fix, Marcelo, it
short circuits a bunch of checks that aren't necessary if the number of
desired backups is 0.

I observed that files from a PV tree were sometimes missing too, but I had
no idea it was related to that!
I was having the damnedest trouble figuring out why!

So I sat down finally to investigate a problem that's been bugging me
for a while, and it turns out it's the same source of another thing
that's bugging me for a while.
MiscUtilities.isBackup seems to be pretty broken.
The two things I'm talking about specifically:
- I've noticed in multiple projects of mine that ProjectViewer was
failing to list several files in the project tree.
- When analysing logs files at work, jEdit keeps asking me whether I
want to open a backup file, when they're obviously not backup files.
The first case is more serious and annoying. e.g. if I have a
directory named "v1" in my tree, or anything that ends with a number,
PV does not import it into the tree.
Since I don't use backups (hey that's why I have source control!), the
following fixes things for me:
+ if (jEdit.getIntegerProperty("backups") <= 0)
+ {
+ return false;
+ }
But since I don't have the context about why that feature was added,
I'll refrain from just deleting that code altogether...

This sounds like a similar issue to the one on MacOS reported by Randall Stebbins last month. It appears to me that the launcher is unable to find the installed JRE. I’m not familiar with the Windows build but I suspect that the problem is in the application stub. --- ** [bugs:#4079] jEdit.exe doens't work with OpenJDK** **Status:** open **Group:** minor bug **Created:** Wed Apr 03, 2019 02:50 PM UTC by ErroneousBee **Last Updated:** Wed Apr 03, 2019 02:50 PM UTC **Owner:** nobody I have "AdoptOpenJDK 1.8.0_202" installed: c:\Program Files\jEdit>java -version openjdk version "1.8.0_202" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (AdoptOpenJDK)(build 1.8.0_202-b08) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (AdoptOpenJDK)(build 25.202-b08, mixed mode) Running the jEdit 5.5.0 Installer pops up a message "This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.8.0" Installation completes, but starting jEdit with jEdit.exe pops up the same message, aborts startup, and navigates my browser to the Oracle java.com website. The jEdit background task suffers the same issue. Launching jEdit from the command prompt `java -jar jedit.jar` works normally. Oracle have recently changed the Java license, potentially charging for java 11, and many enterprises are moving to AdoptOpenJDK on windows to avoid licensing issues. Please can: 1. jEdit.exe support OpenJDK 1.8 and later. 2. jEdit installer support OpenJDK 1.8 and later. 3. jEdit background task support OpenJDK 1.8 and later. 4. jEdit.exe either warn instead of fail, or omit the version test, perhaps via switches. 5. jEdit.exe not open any web pages, this is obnoxious behaviour. 6. jEdit installer consider pointing at the OpenJDK website. --- Sent from sourceforge.net because jed...@li... is subscribed to https://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/bugs/ To unsubscribe from further messages, a project admin can change settings at https://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/admin/bugs/options. Jedit is complaining at startup regarding the CommonControls dependency. Only 1.7.4 is available, but plugin asks for 1.7.5. Compiled against 1.7.4 fine.
