I'd forgotten Eric is on vacation until early October. I took a look at the manage panel code and fixed the problem with the initial sort on the name column, just needed to initialize the sort direction and all is well now. Regarding work on the latest plugins, Eric! Sweet! I can now downgrade to the latest released version of a plugin. Which might be a totally useless feature to someone who is not a plugin developer, but for me, it's something I've longed for. But regarding Dale's comment, this is to confirm I see that too. Enjoy the rest of your vacation though, we''ll hear from you when you get back. I guess we are looking at an October release now. Hi Eric, I'm not sure if this is related to the work you did, if not, let me know and I'll put in a ticket. When I first open the Plugin Manager, the Manage tab is active and the plugins are not sorted, although it appears they should be sorted by name since the "Name" column header has the down arrow in it. Clicking on the "Name" header in the table doesn't work, that is, nothing happens. Clicking on one of the other column headers works, then after that, the "Name" header will work and will sort the plugins by name. Hi, I'm done with the things I wanted to fix in the plugin manager. Please give it a try. Changes are: - the "hide installed plugins" checkbox in the install panel - installed but not loaded plugins are noticed and not reinstalled if they are a dependency. They are only re-installed if checked in the Manage panel. Not changed: an already installed plugin "a" will not be updated if a plugin "b" depending on a newer version of "a" is installed. You'll have to manually update "a" after the install and failed load of "b". (try it with XML 2.8.0 installed and installing latest XSLT) I won't be available until October, 8th. so don't let it delay the release: rollback any necessary change if it can't be fixed. Cheers, Eric |

Hi Tim,
I do watch for release requests, and I'm definitely aware of them. I
usually do the plugin releases, but I haven't had any time lately. I should
be able to make some time soon, and should be able to get through the open
list, but any help would definitely be appreciated. Alan does them as well,
but the more folks we can get to help out the better the community. :)
As Dale mentioned, it is generally bad form to release your own plugin, but
I've set up the Ant scripts to be pretty unbiased. If you set up the
scripts properly then they will download the plugin-source, build it
against the required major version of jEdit (XX.YY) and run it in that
version of jEdit. Plugins using Ivy will download their own
plugin-dependencies, others you have to run the jEdit version first and
download their available versions there.
I then do a visual test to make sure the plugin's menu items, options pane,
and help documentation work. If I see any errors during this process I mark
the plugin as pending and describe the errors in the ticket. I also try to
note any inconsistencies in dependency versions - ie. If the plugin
requires jEdit 5.1 pre1, but I have 5.1 final installed, or if it requires
CommonControls 1.7.3, but 1.7.4 is the one available through the Plugin
Manager.
If you can get through the whole process without touching the plugin's
source code, or messing with the scripts at all, then you should be safe in
releasing your own plugin.
If you're still interested, I'd try it out on a plugin that doesn't have
any dependencies first like TextTools, then something with dependencies
like AStyle (think it just requires the Beauty plugin).
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, I promise to get back
to you as soon as possible.

Yes, it is considered bad form to release your own, but it has been done on occasion in the past. Here are some details: http://plugins.jedit.org/pjo.html The notes there are a few years old, but are still accurate. Read through that and if you have questions, post them here. I think Eric (Townsfolk) and Alan (ezust) are the ones who have release plugins most recently and would be the best source for advice. Hi, I notice that there seems to be a bit of a backlog with the Plugin release requests. Presumably it's bad form to release your own plugin, but I don't mind helping out with the others. Is there are guide, or any special permissions required to do this ? Tim |

There is one more navigator-related patch I was thinking of sliding into the release: http://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/patches/567/ I've been testing it on linux and there are no problems with it so far but I have to do a bit more before I'm ready to commit. I have not seen the exception I mentioned in several days, so I'm thinking it was caused by a change I'd made in my local copy of Sidekick. I'm going to be traveling for the next two weeks, If no one else is seeing any problems, I'd say go ahead and do the release. Actually, I'm getting a lot of these: 11:24:28 AM [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] AWT-EventQueue-0: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" 11:24:28 AM [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] AWT-EventQueue-0: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException 11:24:28 AM [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] AWT-EventQueue-0: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" 11:24:28 AM [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] AWT-EventQueue-0: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException 11:24:28 AM [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] AWT-EventQueue-0: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" 11:24:28 AM [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] AWT-EventQueue-0: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException over and over, which are very uninformative. I think they are being generated from EditBus, but I haven't narrowed it down yet. jEdit becomes very unstable and needs restarted when it gets into this situation. I'm running jEdit from svn head on openjdk 1.8.0_51 on Arch linux. On Fri, Aug 28, 2015 at 8:55 AM, Dale Anson <da...@da...> wrote: > Ah, got it.
