*.(c|h) is not a valid glob pattern and won't match any file
names (unless you have files named foo.(c|h)). It should be
*.{c,h} or *.[ch]. Was this the problem?

Why don't you just write the code to find these matches yourself,
without using a regexp, and select them with
JEditTextArea.addToSelection()? Plugins should not call search and
replace APIs, since the user will then lose their last search string,
etc.

You mean you actually use this feature? Why? I only added it so I could
test soft wrap, some time around 4.2pre1 or so. I haven't used it since.

You can do this in BeanShell:

Hi Brad.  Slight problem with the xml feed from the community
website.  The following entries:

"Numeric Conversion Macros"
"Grep-like macros"
"Ant Helper macros"

are gzipped tar files.  My plugin has no way of knowing this and
ends up saving the files as whatever the macro name is in the
xml doc plus the .bsh extension.  Any way of adding an attribute
that marks these files as gzipped archives?

I've worked a little on a beta plugin posted to the old community site
from hiwylee, you can find the discussion thread on:

I would like to commit it to the repository, I've also emailed the
original author but have got no reply.

Some parts of the plugins are based on mevenide.sf.net plugins which is
released under the Apache license, i would like to apply that license to
all the work but since it's not totally mine (mine is a small part of
the whole) i don't know how to move myself.

Any hint is really appreciated.

What I am really trying to accomplish here is to find all occurances of a

Hello.

i had filed this "bug" already a while ago, but can't find it 
anymore. i rechecked if the bug was still there in the latest 
preview (pre7) and noticed that dragging still copies on my 
machine (windows 2k, service pack 5, java 1.4) but if i click 
and paralelly use the "alt"-key it just drags and drops.
can i change this default setting? or is it still a bug?

Summary: Intermittent HyperSearch problem

Initial Comment:
I'm getting an occasional problem with HyperSearch. 
Sometimes when I click on one of the search results the 
caret gets placed on the line (I think without selecting 
the matching word) but the view doesn't scroll so that 
the line is visible. I've also noticed that after this 
happens using Ctrl+L to go to a line number no longer 
works. I have to restart jEdit once it has happened for 
searching to work normally again. I'm not quite sure 
what's triggering it as the same search will generally 
work after re-starting. Next time it happens I'll see if 
there's any stack trace in the Activity Log.

jEdit 4.2pre7 on Windows NT & XP using Sun JDK 
1.4.1.01 and 1.4.1.02

This is not related to HyperSearch, its a text area bug. I
thought it was fixed in pre7, but obviously not. Can you
find any other way of reproducing it? Also are there

Actually, I think I picked up the bits and pieces, but it's REALLY nice to 
have it all laid out like that as one coherent picture.

I am grabbing the panes like this:
        view.unsplit();
        view.splitVertically();
        JSplitPane split = view.getSplitPane();
        leftPane = ( EditPane ) split.getLeftComponent();
        rightPane = ( EditPane ) split.getRightComponent();

Checking leftPane.toString() and rightPane.toString() shows that I am in fact 
getting two different EditPanes.

Going into a method, I pass the leftPane, confirm that I am sending the left 
pane, and trying to have that pane become the active one so that  when I do 
	SearchAndReplace.find( view, buffer, textArea.getCaretPosition() );
I search in the EditPane passed.  Sadly, the rightPane is always the one that 
is searched since that is the active pane.

I've tried:
        textArea.requestFocus();
and
        textArea.requestFocusInWindow();
and
        textArea.requestDefaultFocus();
and
	pane.requestFocus();
and
        pane.requestFocusInWindow();
and
        pane.requestDefaultFocus();
where 
	JEditTextArea textArea = pane.getTextArea();
	and pane is the EditPane passed in
to no avail.  

Anything else I can try?

editpane.getTextArea() should return the textarea of "editpane". Check 
how you retrieve the editpane object, maybe you do it in a way, so that 
you only get the active editpane and not one of the others.

I am trying to create a plugin that will help with resolving CVS conflicts.  
The plugin splits the pane vertically and shows your version in the left pane 
and the server version on the right hand side.  I'd like to highlight the 
conflict areas so I can automate resolution (e.g., type 'r' to keep the 
server vesion), but I am having difficulties getting the focuses correct.  
How do I get the TextArea of an inactive EditPane, or change which EditPane 
is active?  EditPane.getTextArea() always seems to return the JEditTextArea 
of the active EditPane (the same as View.getTextArea().

Anybody have any pointers?  I can check the code into CVS if anyone want's a 
look and is sure the plugin is worthy ;o)

Summary: console jEdit/JVM Lockup (Dir Cmd)

Initial Comment:
I'm running 4.2pre8 with Console Plugin 3.7
on Windows 98SE with J2SDK1.4.2_03

Running the "dir" command in the console
causes jEdit/JVM to lock. It is necessary to
ctrl-alt-delete and kill jEdit process to recover.

Some observations:

the dir command causes a dos box to pop-up
(not sure if this is normal). The command
running icon keeps on cycling in the  console window.
In some cases, I'm able to run the dir command
a second time before everything wedges.

I've seen earlier reports of similar problems but 
have (hopefully) provided more information.

Summary: jEdit crashes when unloading plugin

current 4.2pre3 build, jdk1.4.1, WinXP

This doesn't happen everytime, and I haven't figured
out how to reproduce it yet, but it has happened to me
about 5 times now over the last 2 days.  It doesn't
seem to matter which plugin is being unloaded. 
Unfortunately I haven't got any useful error messages
since I can't seem to find the setting to have the
activity log written to disk immediately.

I have just upgraded to 4.2pre8, but the FTP plugin still 
shows the time in the filename, it should be:
"public_html"
but is
"00:53 public_html"

and the raw data is:
drwxr-xr-x  7 1009  1009      512 Dec 24 00:53 
public_html

The same thing applies for the rest of the files in the 
directory, they have their modified (date/)time as a part 
of 
their name. This includes "." and ".."

A bugreport was issued on this matter, but closed, but 
apprently not fixed. I am hoping this will make the 
developer(s) aware of the situation :)

The list of encodings is obtained using a Java API. This API
returns a more complete list of encodings in Java 1.5.

As for changing an encoding after a buffer is loaded, just
change it in Buffer Options then do File->Reload.
