Why don't you just write the code to find these matches yourself,
without using a regexp, and select them with
JEditTextArea.addToSelection()? Plugins should not call search and
replace APIs, since the user will then lose their last search string,
etc.

You mean you actually use this feature? Why? I only added it so I could
test soft wrap, some time around 4.2pre1 or so. I haven't used it since.

You can do this in BeanShell:
Debug.CHUNK_PAINT_DEBUG =3D true;
Why make it any more complex than that?

Hi Brad. Slight problem with the xml feed from the community website. The following entries: "Numeric Conversion Macros" "Grep-like macros" "Ant Helper macros" are gzipped tar files. My plugin has no way of knowing this and ends up saving the files as whatever the macro name is in the xml doc plus the .bsh extension. Any way of adding an attribute that marks these files as gzipped archives? Carmine ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This email is confidential. I've worked a little on a beta plugin posted to the old community site from hiwylee, you can find the discussion thread on: http://community.jedit.org/old/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=169 I would like to commit it to the repository, I've also emailed the original author but have got no reply. Some parts of the plugins are based on mevenide.sf.net plugins which is released under the Apache license, i would like to apply that license to all the work but since it's not totally mine (mine is a small part of the whole) i don't know how to move myself. Any hint is really appreciated. -- Thelmo |

Hi Slava,
No, that doesn't work either. :o( Anyway, that's just a
textArea.requestFocus() call with an invokeLater() wrapper, and I tried that
call directly.
What I am really trying to accomplish here is to find all occurances of a
given regex ("^<<<<<<<.*\\n(.*\\n)*?^>>>>>>>.*") in two side by side buffers,
as Selection objects. Unfortunately, the SearchAndReplace methods all seem
to work only on the active EditPane, hence my desire to set the active
EditPane. I suppose I could use brute force and do a
SearchAndReplace.setSearchFileSet( );
with my own dummied up SearchFileSet written for each buffer, but it seems to
me there should be a more elegant way of going about it.
I guess that leads to the question, is there a way to just get all the matches
from a hypersearch as an array of Selection objects, or do I have roll my
own?
Thanks for your help,
Jeff

Hallo,
in th file:
org.gjt.sp.jedit.syntax.Chunk.java/1.13 (4.2pre8)
there is a small error if you want to use:
Debug.CHUNK_PAINT_DEBUG
The Rectangles are painted with the incorrect color!
Here my solution for the problem:
//-----------------------------------------------------
// only paint visible chunks
if(x + _x + chunks.width > clipRect.x
&& x + _x < clipRect.x + clipRect.width)
{
// ERROR START
// if(Debug.CHUNK_PAINT_DEBUG)
// {
// gfx.draw(new Rectangle2D.Float(x + _x,y - 10,
// chunks.width,10));
// }
// ERROR END
if(chunks.accessable && chunks.visible)
{
gfx.setFont(chunks.style.getFont());
gfx.setColor(chunks.style.getForegroundColor());
if(glyphVector && chunks.gv !=3D null)
gfx.drawGlyphVector(chunks.gv,x + _x,y);
else if(chunks.str !=3D null)
{
gfx.drawString(chunks.str,
(int)(x + _x),(int)y);
}
}
// SOLUTION START (just move the lines down!)
// Useful for debugging purposes
if(Debug.CHUNK_PAINT_DEBUG)
{
gfx.draw(new Rectangle2D.Float(x + _x,y - 10,
chunks.width,10));
}
// SOLUTION END
}
//-----------------------------------------------------
I think it is a good idea to make the Variables in org.gjt.sp.jedit.Debug=
=20
accesible to change Debug behaviour at runtime:
=09 public static void setChunkPaintDebug(boolean newCHUNK_PAINT_DEBUG) {
CHUNK_PAINT_DEBUG =3D newCHUNK_PAINT_DEBUG;
=09 }
// SwitchChunkPainDebugt.bsh
org.gjt.sp.jedit.Debug.setChunkPaintDebug(!org.gjt.sp.jedit.Debug.CHUNK_P=
AINT_DEBUG);

Actually, I think I picked up the bits and pieces, but it's REALLY nice to
have it all laid out like that as one coherent picture.
I am grabbing the panes like this:
view.unsplit();
view.splitVertically();
JSplitPane split = view.getSplitPane();
leftPane = ( EditPane ) split.getLeftComponent();
rightPane = ( EditPane ) split.getRightComponent();
Checking leftPane.toString() and rightPane.toString() shows that I am in fact
getting two different EditPanes.
Going into a method, I pass the leftPane, confirm that I am sending the left
pane, and trying to have that pane become the active one so that when I do
SearchAndReplace.find( view, buffer, textArea.getCaretPosition() );
I search in the EditPane passed. Sadly, the rightPane is always the one that
is searched since that is the active pane.
I've tried:
textArea.requestFocus();
and
textArea.requestFocusInWindow();
and
textArea.requestDefaultFocus();
and
pane.requestFocus();
and
pane.requestFocusInWindow();
and
pane.requestDefaultFocus();
where
JEditTextArea textArea = pane.getTextArea();
and pane is the EditPane passed in
to no avail.
Anything else I can try?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff, as far as I know, the following is the main structure of the GUI (please forgive if you already know this, but I just wanna make things sure): each EditPane object has exactly one JEditTextArea. There can be multiple EditPanes per View (splitted) and multiple Views per jEdit application. You can iterate over all of them with the static method jEdit.getViews() which returns an array of all current View objects. The class View has a method getEditPanes() which returns an array of EditPane objects. On an EditPane object you can call getTextArea() to get the current textarea of that EditPane. If you switch buffers in an EditPane/Textarea, only the content is changed, but not the EditPane or JEditTextArea objects. > How do I get the TextArea of an inactive EditPane, or change which EditPane > is active? EditPane.getTextArea() always seems to return the JEditTextArea > of the active EditPane (the same as View.getTextArea(). editpane.getTextArea() should return the textarea of "editpane". Check how you retrieve the editpane object, maybe you do it in a way, so that you only get the active editpane and not one of the others. View.getEditPanes() should help. I am trying to create a plugin that will help with resolving CVS conflicts. The plugin splits the pane vertically and shows your version in the left pane and the server version on the right hand side. I'd like to highlight the conflict areas so I can automate resolution (e.g., type 'r' to keep the server vesion), but I am having difficulties getting the focuses correct. How do I get the TextArea of an inactive EditPane, or change which EditPane is active? EditPane.getTextArea() always seems to return the JEditTextArea of the active EditPane (the same as View.getTextArea(). Anybody have any pointers? I can check the code into CVS if anyone want's a look and is sure the plugin is worthy ;o) Thanks, Jeff -- Jeffrey Hoyt The MITRE Corporation Database Technology SW Engineer 703-758-8143 |

Also, it would be great if I could change the encoding of a buffer after it was loaded. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Aaron Optimizer Digulla (digulla) Date: 2003-12-27 18:24 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=606 Ok, then I would like a requester "Reload Buffer to convert contents to new encoding?" after I changed the encoding. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Slava Pestov (spestov) Date: 2003-12-27 00:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=2280 The list of encodings is obtained using a Java API. This API returns a more complete list of encodings in Java 1.5. As for changing an encoding after a buffer is loaded, just change it in Buffer Options then do File->Reload. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=861620&group_id=588 |
