The buffer I was checking Could have sworn I'd added 'a' to the dictioary before releasing it. Must have noticed the omission afterwards. The default dictionary is pretty basic at the moment - I'm emailing around at the moment to get permission to use the English dictionary by P. Daly as our default, but he'd based them on someone elses dictionaries, so I am tracking them down to make sure they are under an open source license. They are a very good set of dictionaries which you customize depending on which english speaking nation you are from (e.g. UK, US, Canada). Watch this space. > happened to be read only, but I wasn't trying to change anything in the > buffer. I think I can see where the problem is here. Regular text in a buffer doesn't appear to get check at > all (even when highlighted). This is a feature - read the help file re: Mode specific checking. The idea is to stop you having to hit IgnoreAll for every method name, constant, variable etc in a Java file. Spellchecking the code doesn't make much sense, as the compiler will pick anything up, or you could use SpeedJava or something similar. Of course if you *do* want to spellcheck code, you can disable this feature in the options. > * Misspelled words at the end of sentence pick up the period when you're > looking at them in the misspelled word text box. It seems strange that it is trying to do a > replace in this case as well. Are you using the default dictionary? At the moment the dictionary is read-only. One of the other Jazzy developers is working on multiple dictionary support, and I will probably wait until then to fix this bug (shouldn't be too long) as I will use a user dictionary to add the words to. In the meantime, adding words to the default dictionary is not supported. I would suggest that you unzip the dictionary from the jazzy.jar (it's called English.0) into a local folder, and point jazzy at the local copy through the options. You are right, the checker shouldn't be trying to do a replace as well - I'll look into it. In the meantime, if you could submit bugs for these problems to the Jazzy bugs page (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=34472&atid=411236) I would be grateful. Golden (ggolden) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: ProjectViewer 1.0.6 not saving state Initial Comment: Just updated to ProjectViewer 1.0.6. Now, the display is stuck on the expanded list of folders. If I close the expansion, switch to files, switch back, it's still expanded. Also, when I stop and restart Jedit, the same set of files remain open, and the ProjectViewer display is stuck at the expanded list of folders... Seems to be having trouble storing it's state, or reading it back, or something! Happens on both Mac and Windows... With Jedit 4.1pre8. Also - close all files, and go to the working files list - there's still a list of files there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Marcelo Vanzin (vanza) Date: 2003-01-31 11:38 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=75113 fixed in CVS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=676224&group_id=588 |

Because macro execution is automatically wrapped in begin/endCompoundEdit() and calling undo() from inside a compound edit causes this. You should find another way to achieve the same effect. I noticed the following problems with the latest version of the plugin:
* When trying to add 'a' to the dictionary (I can't believe it isn't in
there), I got the following in the activity log. The buffer I was checking
happened to be read only, but I wasn't trying to change anything in the
buffer.

Subject: [ jEdit-devel ] Jazzy Plugin Release - v. 0.2.0
Date: Jan 28 2003
Name: Jazzy
Author: Anthony J. Roy
Version: 0.2.0
Requires: JDK 1.3
jEdit 1.4rc4
Announcement: Feature release. New features include:
1) Highlighting of misspelled words when dialog is shown.
2) Dynamic replacing of words in buffer.
3) Mode specific spellchecking (Can be disabled). In particular:
a) XML mode - ignores tags in XML or HTML modes.
b) Java mode - only checks in documentation or range comments, and
ignores the contents of <CODE> tags.
c) TeX mode - currently ignores commands, environment names, math
environments defined by $$xx$$ or $x$ and comments.
4) Has a built in (fairly basic) dictionary which is loaded if no
dictionary is specified in the options pane, or if the file
specified could not be found.
Full details in help file.
Source Code: http://www.comp.leeds.ac.uk/anthonyr/jazzy/JazzySrc.zip
Compiled JAR: http://www.comp.leeds.ac.uk/anthonyr/jazzy/jazzy.jar
To build from source, run the jedit-plugin target (or set the
local.jedit.jars property to the directory of the plugin jars and run
jedit-install).

Hi Matthew, > I was curious of other people's opinion. > Shouldn't these plugins respond to he page down/up keystrokes? this would indee be desired. I managed to get the SpeedJava sources. they are now in jedits cvs. I've already done some cleanup and added docs etc.. At the moment I am loaded with other work, so I have not done much bugfixing. So if you want to have a go, just add these things. > > I believe it would be more helpful if they scroll the list a page, > rather than allowing jedit to scroll a page. > Being used to many other ide's, hitting page down causes one to temporary loose track of where > they are working. Any thoughts? It would seem to be a simple fix? I would as well welcome suggestions for breaking down the *.java files as some of them are quite big, thus not so easy to handle. Hi all. I'm writing a Macro handler for my PrologConsole plugin, so that Prolog theories can be loaded automatically at startup. But I'm running into a problem... I have written an appropriate Macros.Handler and set the properties (a label and a glob -- *.pro in the Prolog case) in the plugin property file, and if I try to run a Macro (i.e. load a Prolog theory into the Prolog engine) from the Macros jEdit menu (e.g. Macros->Run Other Macro...) things go straight and the macro handler works as expected. Anyway, I do not manage to make jEdit load my Prolog macros at startup. I have tried to put them in ~/.jedit/startup or in ~/.jedit/macros or in %JEDIT-HOME%/startup but with no success. Any suggestions? Thank you very much. Regards, Giulio Piancastelli. |

Hello John, I am astonished, too, about the sophisticated behaviour of the SearchAndReplace feature, and I'm glad that it didn't mischanged my codes until now (at least I didn't notice it) as I'm using ReplaceAll very often. Expanding the SearchAndReplaceDialog with another option which hardly anybody will use doesn't seems a good idea to me. I would prefer a global option. I will try to implement this in the XSearch plugin. I will release this as a compatible version, as soon as 4.1final is out. Kind regards Rudi Message: 5 Reply-To: "John Watson" <jo...@wa...> From: "John Watson" <jo...@wa...> To: "jEdit Devel" <jed...@li...> Subject: Re: [ jEdit-devel ] [ jedit-Bugs-676244 ] Search and replace ignores words depending on capitalization Date: Tue, 28 Jan 2003 21:05:24 -0800 Hmm... my mistake. The docs say: - "String label" would become "String text" - "setLabel" would become "setText" - "DEFAULT_LABEL" would become "DEFAULT_TEXT" So if the text is "foo" and you are replacing it with "BAR", shouldn't it become "bar"? It doesn't, it becomes "BAR". I can understand why it is doing this (at least I think I do). The assumption is that if someone goes to the effort to type caps into the replace string then they must be serious. In other words, the search works as described in the docs iff you type the replace string in all lowercase. I think the root of the problem I'm having with this (and sorry if I'm belaboring a point no one else cares about) is that the "Ignore case" checkbox actually does two things: it does the expected thing (ignore the case of the search string) but it also modifies your replacement string per instance. Consider splitting these two features into two checkboxes... "Ignore case" and "Match target case"? By making the choice explicit it should make the UI less error prone for those of us who only skim the docs and allows the replace to work one way instead of having different behavior depending on the case of the replace string. |

Hello,
I want to undo all text manipulations done inside a beanshell macro if
an error occurs.
I do following coding:
buffer.beginCompoundEdit();
<some code>
buffer.endCompoundEdit();
if (errorsFound)
buffer.undo(textArea);
then, I receive an exception:
[error] BeanShell: java.lang.InternalError: Unbalanced
begin/endCompoundEdit()
[error] BeanShell: at
org.gjt.sp.jedit.buffer.UndoManager.undo(UndoManager.java:58)
[error] BeanShell: at org.gjt.sp.jedit.Buffer.undo(Buffer.java:1255)
[error] BeanShell: at
sun.reflect.GeneratedMethodAccessor124.invoke(Unknown Source)
...
If I invoke "undo" after the macro run, it works fine.
Any ideas ?

Initial Comment: I'm using jEdit4.0.3 in Slackware Linux 8.1. When I try to use some internacional characters like : á, ã, é, ó, ... in a ISO8859-1 encoding document the editor simply shows a square box and not the real character. But, when a document with this character is opened, the editor 'shows' them correctly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Andy (swissroll) Date: 2003-01-30 23:28 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=700998 Same here. Have the problem on both 4.0.3 and 4.1_rc8. This may be of help: On version 4.0.3, when I use the Utilities->Keyboard test option, I get 2 events (see end of message). Both have keyChar=? when I pasted them in here, but in Jedit, the KEY_TYPED event shows up with keyChar='<square box>' and the KEY_RELEASED shows up with keyChar='ö' correctly ... dunno quite what's happening. Hi, Sorry--I forgot to attach the attachment I mentioned. It seems the stack trace came through unscathed, but nonetheless, here it is. Randall Schulz |

Hi, I just got a SuSE 8.1 Linux system running, with all available updates from SuSE applied. I then retrieved and installed the j2sdk1.4.1_01-b01 followed shortly by jEdit 4.1pre9. Installation of jEdit for all users (by root) went smoothly. However, whenever I try to run jEdit, I get exceptions: [error] java.lang.InternalError: not implemented yet [error] at sun.awt.X11SurfaceData.getRaster(X11SurfaceData.java:155) [error] at sun.java2d.loops.OpaqueCopyAnyToArgb.Blit(CustomComponent.java:67) [error] at sun.java2d.loops.GraphicsPrimitive.convertFrom(GraphicsPrimitive.java:451) [error] at sun.java2d.loops.MaskBlit$General.MaskBlit(MaskBlit.java:186) [error] at sun.java2d.loops.Blit$GeneralMaskBlit.Blit(Blit.java:170) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.blitSurfaceData(DrawImage.java:658) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.renderSurfaceData(DrawImage.java:386) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.clipAndRenderSurfaceData(DrawImage.java:364) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.copyImage(DrawImage.java:66) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.copyImage(DrawImage.java:50) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.copyImage(DrawImage.java:749) [error] at sun.java2d.SunGraphics2D.drawImage(SunGraphics2D.java:2803) [error] at sun.awt.image.ImageRepresentation.drawToBufImage(ImageRepresentation.java:726) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.copyImage(DrawImage.java:756) [error] at sun.java2d.SunGraphics2D.drawImage(SunGraphics2D.java:2803) [error] at sun.java2d.SunGraphics2D.drawImage(SunGraphics2D.java:2793) [error] at org.gjt.sp.jedit.gui.SplashScreen.paint(Unknown Source) [error] at sun.awt.RepaintArea.paint(RepaintArea.java:177) [error] at sun.awt.motif.MComponentPeer.handleEvent(MComponentPeer.java:374) [error] at java.awt.Component.dispatchEventImpl(Component.java:3658) [error] at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(Component.java:3439) [error] at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(EventQueue.java:450) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:197) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:150) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:144) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:136) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:99) [error] java.lang.InternalError: not implemented yet [error] at sun.awt.X11SurfaceData.getRaster(X11SurfaceData.java:155) [error] at sun.java2d.loops.OpaqueCopyAnyToArgb.Blit(CustomComponent.java:67) [error] at sun.java2d.loops.GraphicsPrimitive.convertFrom(GraphicsPrimitive.java:451) [error] at sun.java2d.loops.MaskBlit$General.MaskBlit(MaskBlit.java:186) [error] at sun.java2d.loops.Blit$GeneralMaskBlit.Blit(Blit.java:170) [error] at sun.awt.image.AcceleratedOffScreenImage.copyBackupToAccelerated(AcceleratedOffScreenImage.java:120) [error] at sun.awt.motif.X11OffScreenImage.copyBackupToAccelerated(X11OffScreenImage.java:168) [error] at sun.awt.image.AcceleratedOffScreenImage.validate(AcceleratedOffScreenImage.java:287) [error] at sun.awt.image.AcceleratedOffScreenImage.getSourceSurfaceData(AcceleratedOffScreenImage.java:219) [error] at sun.java2d.SurfaceData.getSurfaceDataFromImage(SurfaceData.java:98) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.copyImage(DrawImage.java:62) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.copyImage(DrawImage.java:50) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.copyImage(DrawImage.java:749) [error] at sun.java2d.SunGraphics2D.drawImage(SunGraphics2D.java:2803) [error] at sun.awt.image.ImageRepresentation.drawToBufImage(ImageRepresentation.java:726) [error] at sun.java2d.pipe.DrawImage.copyImage(DrawImage.java:756) [error] at sun.java2d.SunGraphics2D.drawImage(SunGraphics2D.java:2803) [error] at sun.java2d.SunGraphics2D.drawImage(SunGraphics2D.java:2793) [error] at org.gjt.sp.jedit.gui.SplashScreen.paint(Unknown Source) [error] at org.gjt.sp.jedit.gui.SplashScreen.update(Unknown Source) [error] at sun.awt.RepaintArea.paint(RepaintArea.java:169) [error] at sun.awt.motif.MComponentPeer.handleEvent(MComponentPeer.java:374) [error] at java.awt.Component.dispatchEventImpl(Component.java:3658) [error] at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(Component.java:3439) [error] at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(EventQueue.java:450) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:197) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:150) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:144) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:136) [error] at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:99) These appear on the standard output just as or very shortly after the splash-screen window appears. The splash window remains blank, however--just plain white. Every time some of the blank splash window is uncovered and a redraw is required, the second of these two exceptions gets repeated. I've attached a text file containing the same stack trace, in case mailers make the in-line copy here hard to read. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? If I can help with diagnosis by running any tests or experiments, please let me know. Randall Schulz |

Project_A consists of files File_A_1, File_A_2 Sequence: 1. If I work with Project_A 2. all project files (File_A_1, File_A_2) are open 3. File_A_1 is active 4. Switch to project Project_B 5. Switch back to project Project_A Result: last active file File_A_1 is closed, open remains only File_A_2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: D Herring (nuntius) Date: 2003-01-30 15:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=637454 I haven't traced the whole bug down, but this bug occurs when the project is saved. For example, 1.) open project a, files a.1, a.2, a.3, and a.4 2.) select the buffer for a.3 3.) go to project b. The file projectX.properties (X=0,1,2...) which holds project a will now show: " open_files.1=a.1 open_files.2=a.2 open_files.3=a.4 lastFile=a.4 " In fact, lastFile should probably be a.3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=675315&group_id=588 |
