    Reminds me of during the cold war, I was in Europe and was surprised when I saw a group of tourists from the Soviet Union. They were walking around like happy go lucky tourists. I had thought all people in Soviet countries were trapped there and hankering to get out, and if any managed to escape they'd all be running to a western embassy seeking asylum! Same thing when I was in India. I met someone from what was then Yugoslavia. He was not looking to escape and even said he had had enough of traveling and was going back to Yugoslavia. If you didn’t know or learn rudiments of any of those three languages for the Morocco trip(s), did you find the language barrier made you feel unwelcome, too inconvenienced, or unable to get things done?

    Right now it seems that international tourist visits to Morocco are booming, including those from western countries. Perhaps many are first-time visitors who will be horrified, as you say you were, and they won’t return. Perhaps not.

    I was up in the San Juan Mountains, the Lizard Head Pass/Ouray/Silverton area last September/October, and, because of the beauty of the scenery (Aspens in full color) along with all the wild animals: moose, beaver, etc., couldn't force myself to leave. I stuck around Colorado for weeks longer than I had planned. Why go chasing after natural fall beauty when you're already in it.

    But I tend to agree with you: The entire USA, including Colorado, is turning more and more into a Walmart Nation: fat, brown, tattooed, ignorant, losers-on-welfare; I see it has gotten worse (as you say, "shit") with each and every yearly visit to the USA over the last 15 years. The White, self-reliant, pull-your-own-weight America that I remember of the 60's, 70's and 80's is long gone.

Nero, who died at the age of thirty, was, at least initially, a popular and successful ruler. Dio Chrysostom (c. 40–120), a Greek philosopher and historian, wrote the Roman people were very happy with Nero and would have allowed him to rule indefinitely. Same as with the Germanic myths, Christian clergy contributed greatly to distorting the original sources.
    I think that, just like in ancient Rome, a lot of false information is used in the White House. The president is either not fully informed or not truthfully informed, depending on which circles have access to him or are kept away. I also don't rule out psychotropic drugs, as could be seen with Joe Biden, who ended up as a pitiful human wreck.

    I’m guessing you are a failure. No restauranteur would ever allow an employee to make or take any kind of political stance or statement with the general public during business hours. It’s literally “Businesses Suicide”. As a former restaurateur I have no doubt that when board members got wind of the incident they went straight into damage control mode no matter what their personal convictions were.

    Some here have commented that Venezuela could result in a similar debacle like Vietnam. Yet the two situations are not very comparable. Historically Vietnam was an on-going civil war focused around an effort to oust colonial occupation (French, then US). The French fought the Viet Minh (later Viet Cong) for 8 years, with America fighting longer (at least '56 through '75).

    The US supported an established opposition government, and had built up a substantial logistical support supply line. Plus, over half a million troops during the span of the fighting.

    For their part, the VC 'shared' a land bridge (supply route) with Laos, Cambodia, and of course China. The Soviets supplied massive arms shipments.

    Americans were 'sold' on Vietnam as being an existential fight against domino theory Communism. That idea made a big impression on Americans back then, willing to believe it-- at least for a while.

    Nothing like that is comparable to Venezuela. Trump is selling his oil stealing action as a drug interdiction. Other than the few and the stupid, no one believes that.

    However one aspect could be similar. If enough US soldiers are killed, it would be over for Trump. Americans in general have no stomach for 'first hand' war. Body bags sunk Johnson and then Nixon. The same would happen to Orange Head.

    Because of that, unless Trump/Hegs think it can be a 'one and done', it's difficult to imagine a protracted 'boots on the ground' operation. Not sure how many Americans would have to die before a significant backlash. I think anything approaching 1000 would tip the ship.

    If, after an air attack and beachhead it's not over in a few days, and if the Venezuelan army doesn't fold and puts up an actual fight, who knows? Hegs is totally bloodthirsty insane, and Trump is always this way and then that. Many in the US military high command are said to be not on-board with the plan. So if fighting becomes on-going, and losses mount, it could be another Bay of Pigs, only on a much larger scale, and much worse for the US.

    Is a Maduro exile deal approaching: (1)

    The New York Post is freshly reporting that the White House has offered that Maduro could be exiled to Qatar, where he would live out his days in luxury in one of the world’s wealthiest countries.

    “A senior Trump administration source said Secretary of State Marco Rubio has floated allowing Maduro, 63, to relocate to Qatar as the gas-rich emirate helps mediate the conflict,” NY Post writes Wednesday. “Three current and two former administration officials described the scenario as plausible.”
     
    There are three basic questions for such a resolution:

    -1- Who else will go?
    -2- What happens to Maduro’s offshore accounts?
    -3- What terms are attached to the exile?

    All of these could reach reasonable compromises. #3 is probably the most difficult. Maduro is asking for a full amnesty, which is not going to happen. He does need assurances that he will be safe in Qatar and wants some freedom to move about the region.

    There are definitely easy and obvious comparisons that can and should be made, where China is greatly inferior to the West.

    One of them is the median GDP per capita (PPP). In that metric, the average American is the richest in the whole world (except for a few tiny countries), while the average Chinese is significantly poorer even than the average person in the world.

    Chinese GDP per capita (PPP) is increasing fairly rapidly, but there's still decades to go before the average Chinese wealth gets anywhere near Western standards (or Japanese or S. Korean standards). It remains to be seen whether China can join the ranks of countries that provide a high standard of living to its citizens.

    China is powerful mainly because there is such an enormous number of Chinese people, not because China is an efficient or rich country - it isn't.

    My mom and dad put their house in a Trust. Mom died and dad wanted to move. It took both of their signatures to sell the house so dad couldn't sell it. He had to hire a lawyer and pay fees to a judge to have the property put back into his name. I will never want to get entangled in that legal nonsense if I can help it.     This enables them to get the billions in subsidies from the Chinese Gubmint for reaching these projected targets.

    But the reality is that millions of these lemons sit unsold in huge parking lots.
    And many are eventually dumped overseas and domestically (as zero kilometre 'used' cars), at steep discounts to the normal retail price.
    End Result: The catastrophic depreciation that EV's normally experience is now sent into hyper drive.


    Summary: Something that can't go on forever (squandering gazillions of the Chinese citizens saving down a toilet), will NOT go on forever.
    Sooner or later the Chinese Gubmint will pull the pin, and the EV market in China will collapse like a controlled demolition in NYC on 9/11.
     
    So, here's some good advice for owners of these monstrosities: DUMP YOUR EV LEMON TODAY.
    Take whatever anyone is offering - even if it means losing 70-80 cents on the dollar.

    Because, as low as the bid might be today, it will certainly be lower in the months ahead.
    If you don't sell it soon, you'll be left holding the bag.
    You'll be stuck with a lead weight anchor of a monstrosity that no one is willing to touch.

    I’m not sure that’s a fair criticism.

    Like my previous two “unknown books” articles, this one is mostly a compilation of some of my previous writings, so I’ve blockquoted those lengthy excerpted passages.

    There’s obviously a gigantic political battle currently roiling the American right-wing over the “antisemitism controversy” regarding Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes, with many dozens or even hundreds of major newsclips and video interviews discussing the controversy. So I think republishing this material in a single, convenient package was worthwhile.

    For example, lots of people have said that Fuentes has regularly cited my own writings as one of his main sources of information on the very touchy Jewish issues that have now provoked so much controversy. So I think it’s helpful if people have convenient access to that same material.

    As far as I can tell, something like 99% of all the people condemning Fuentes and by extension Carlson are unaware of the surprising facts that I document, or at least they pretend to be. And I think that if that changed, the political consequences might be quite dramatic.

It's perfectly possible that NASA touched-up some of their photos if the originals came out blurry and it's even quite possible that they filmed some sequences on Earth against the possibility that the scenes from the Moon wouldn't look good enough to justify all the many billions they'd spent.

    But those are exactly the sort of "white lies" that could have very easily been kept quiet at the time in the huge NASA organization, and they would hardly challenge the notion that the Moon landing itself had been faked.

    Suppose someone carefully examined various photos of Taylor Swift and proved that they'd been touched-up or found that some of her musical performances shown in films were similarly enhanced or altered. Would that suggest that Taylor Swift didn't really exist?

    As I've repeatedly said, something like 90-95% of all the "conspiracy theories" that I've come across seem to be incorrect or at least unsubstantiated, and the Moon Landing Hoax almost certainly falls into that category, tending to attract people of strong imaginations and weak minds.     With all due respect, Ron, Massimo and other expert photographers are not saying the problematic photos are “touched up.” They are saying the photos were obviously created with studio lights on a stage set. Since they are consistent with each other, there cannot have been some authentic moon walk photos and some fake ones. According to these experts, all of the photos are obviously fake.

    That doesn’t necessarily mean that the moon walks didn’t happen, but it does mean there is no extant photographic evidence of them, and that a monumental photographic hoax was perpetrated on the world…which certainly is a strong prima facie argument for Massimo’s hypothesis that USG decided to fake the moon walks rather than risk high-probability death and disaster. If you don’t believe the government is predisposed to such big lies, I urge you to read the American Pravda series by some guy named Unz, who got red-pilled by noticing that the Nixon-era USG and its successors successfully covered up the obvious fact, known to millions, that half of America’s POWs in Vietnam got “left behind.”

    I think both you and Unz are people that don't deserve being dismissed easily or quickly when you raise a possibility. I also have the impression that you aren't reading each other's columns and comments on this matter (lol).

    He is a pragmatist, you are the "lots of imagination" type (but it isn't fair to add "weak of mind", in your case; it would be fair to do that about plenty of people who have been published on this website over the years — often among the most read —, but it isn't about you.     Moreover, it is perfectly likely that all of the images/videos shared to the populace would be fabricated; the people who govern matters of such political relevance would do that almost by default, even.     Well, the problem is that I don't know anything about photography. So one professional photographer says they're obviously fake, but 99.999% of all the professional photographers since 1969 have kept silent, suggesting that those photos couldn't have been so "obviously fake."

    After all, the Moon landing and those photos were a gigantic story back 55 years ago. So why didn't some photographers say anything back then?

    When we published that big Moon Hoax article a half-dozen years ago, the main point that the author and all many Moon Hoaxers made was the our Moon landings were "very obviously scientifically impossible."

    So the response I had at the time was to say that if that's the case, why can't they find any scientists who agree with them? People like professional astrophysicists or aerospace engineers?

    More than six years have gone by and they apparently still haven't found a single one. One reason I take the 9/11 issue seriously is that 3,000 professional architects and engineers have signed that AE911 declaration. And isn't the 9/11 issue much more "touchy" and dangerous than the 1969 Moon landings?

    According to ChatGPT, there are about 70,000 such professionals in America. Once the Moon Hoax people can give me the names of something like TEN of those professionals who support their position I'll take them more seriously.

    I agree in part because Trump got over $200 million from the Adelson crime syndicate alone, yet the socialist or communist alternative is worse.
