Revolutions are funny things. They start out almost imperceptible. The final straw itself may be as inconsequential as a single voice in the crowd whose words unleash a tidal wave that sweeps aside the seemingly intractable old order forever.
Even as the cracks in the Eastern Bloc began to materialize in 1989, starting in June in Hungary, Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu’s Romania seemed impervious to the winds of change. They maintained a cult-like grip on power aided by the notorious and ubiquitous Securitate, the secret police.
On 21 December 1989 Ceausescu decided that the best way to quell a bubbling cauldron of unrest in Transylvania over the past several weeks was to appear, himself, with his wife Elena, above Bucharest’s Palace Square. Workers were bussed in and given red banners to wave in support of the regime. It was to be a show of force that would solidify the existing order.
After all, no one would dare challenge Ceausescu to his face.
As he confidently approached the microphone from the balcony and began mechanically repeating the tired old slogans of communism, suddenly a voice broke through with a high pitched scream, followed by an increasing din. The discordant sounds of protest rendered Ceausescu speechless and confused.
That second, when the false edifice of his rule was punctured and the impossibility of his position exposed, communist rule died in Romania.

No jobs, no publications, no way to be heard or even exist.
But suddenly that Berlin Wall has fallen.

I’ve now been car camping for nearly two months out of a 2018 Honda CRV Touring, which is a big step up from the 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera I used to use for car camping. That said: Since hitting the road for this trip and visiting Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and now Northern California, I’ve seen some expensive rigs on the road but what stands out above all else on this trip are the sheer numbers of down-and-outer Americans (many who are obvious drug users) in so many of the towns and smallish cities I’ve gone through; that, and the outrageous obesity and tattoos. It looks like so many Americans have given up on having any discipline whatsoever ever in the management of their lives, and it’s as if they go out of their way to be ugly.
For every American who can afford a $250,000 camping rig there are 100 Americans on welfare and, mostly because of their crappy decisions, living like shit.

I do not mean to upset anyone but my view is that there are no revolutions in the true sense of the word. There are engineered revolts that are meant to succeed . These come to be known as “revolutions” in history books (now we call this “regime change”). Who writes those history books? Genuine uprisings are invariably crushed/ quelled.
In the US, honestly, I do not see the need for such a revolution. Regime change for who’s benefit?

Certainly this is a supportable statement. “Revolutions” are generally another power faction, or organized from the Freemason temple (France, USA, the London peasants revolt), or in the case of Romania the army was involved and simply “stepped aside” and allowed the people to bypass them and remove the cancerous dinosaur leadership long past its prime. The people in that case acted with the consent of the military.

It is clear however, that government as an institution that we have known may be nearing its end. In the former west Canada for example, it is coming apart at the seems quickly. I do not know what will replace it. An attempt at neo-liberal utopia? “Rollerball?”

Ceausecu was one of the greatest leders in the Romanian history.Under his ledership Romania become an industrilaized nation.He was killed becouse he managed to pay the IMF back the only country in the world that ever did that.He also was planing to open a world bank made up of developing countries to by pass the IMF,WORLD BANK etc.He was tried by a cangroo cort that afte 2 hours sentenced him and his wife to death.Today Romania produces nothing just importing the crap from EU and owns the forigen banks over 200 billion Euros.If there was an election in Romania today Ceausesc will win hands down.
