My dad was technically Hispanic as he grew up in Mexico and spoke fluent Spanish. He considered it his native language. My family also lived in Spain back in the 1960s while he was stationed there with the military. Recently I took his stack of LP records to dispose since my mom just sold their house. She has repeatedly claimed that “there’s a guy downtown that will give you a lot of money for these”, but no such person exists. But I had to laugh seeing the vintage Mariachi music he used to put on his record player after mixing himself a Martini. Fond memories of my dad when he was in a good mood. He has told me rather incredible stories of border life during the 1920s and 1930s, such as organized raids by armed Mexican bandits or his railroad-owned house which was next to a brothel. And in our house growing up there were numerous artifacts of Spanish and Mexican culture. Later I lived 30 years in predominantly Hispanic neighborhoods in the South West. So in general am sympathetic to Hispanics. But many of them are unapologetically racist, and some viciously so. For that reason black support for unchecked Hispanic immigration really baffles me. Hispanic solidarity with blacks is a liberal media fiction.

I checked out this information on this at the HIAS website, which linked an Excel spreadsheet of all of the “resettlement offices” in the United States. That the prohibition increased the profits for the drug dealers just enhances the reason to get into the drug business. Remember, alcohol prohibition was tried and failed spectacularly. What makes anyone think that drugs would somehow be different. Gov’t knew of the problems drug prohibition would bring but also knew of the control they could impose that the terminally stupid would support.

Make the laws concerning drugs the same as the laws concerning cabbage; none to speak of, and the crime problem will evaporate. It is the gov’t prohibition that’s the root cause and it’s the gov’ts backing off of something they should never have started that will fix the problem they created.

As long as people want drugs, there will be a supply. It is nonsensical to attempt to restrict human nature. I may not like the fact drugs exist, but adding violence to the drug situation isn’t helping. Don’t make drugs legal, just stop making them illegal, the third option.
