Hello people! I was looking for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS packages but I just found a few packages on FTP. My question is when 16.04 will become a officially supported version? Best regards! -- Marcos H. Alano Sent from my Android |

Hi, I use an Ubuntu 16 LTS in german ENV on a 32GB RAM box, so I cannot start mondo, it cancels with: DBG2: [Main] libmondo-tools.c->pre_param_configuration#671: Your distribution did not pass Mondo's sanity test. DBG1: [Main] ../common/newt-specific.c->fatal_error#304: Fatal error received - 'Pre-param initialization phase failed. Please review the error messages above, make the specified changes, then try again. Exiting...' (at least 32MB RAM needed). The reason is in mondo-3.2.2/src/common/libmondo-tools.c on line 925, it uses the system command "free", but greps for "Mem", not the german word "Speicher". |

Hi All, I am having an issue with the diver for my USB Microsoft keyboard (hid_microsoft) not getting load when I boot with a Mondoarchive recovery DVD. I used the following to create a test DVD iso: *mondoarchive -Oi -d /bkup/mondorescue -I '/home' -E '/home/mark/Downloads/torrent' -g -N -s 4480m -p `hostname`-`date +%y%m%d%H%M`* I then burn a DVD from the iso created and boot my system from that DVD. At the Boot: prompt, my keyboard is working and I am able to enter the 'compare' option. But once the system boots to do the compare, the keyboard stops working. I have an old Dell USB keyboard that I plug in and I am able to complete the test. I tried to use the FORCE_MODS= option in the mindi.conf file to forces the hid_microsoft module to be loaded. I tried three tests: 1) FORCE_MODS="hid_microsoft", 2) FORCE_MODS="hid-microsoft" and 3) FORCE_MODS="hid_microsoft hid-microsoft" but none of those worked. In tests 2 and 3, the driver (hid-microsoft.ko) was at least include in the hid driver folder, /lib/modules/3.13.0-93-generic/kernel/drivers/hid. After each test, I ran the lsmod command and the hid_microsoft module was not loaded but the hid_generic keyboard module was loaded. I did find that if I did a modprob hid_microsoft command, my Microsoft keyboard start to work. For some reason the FORCE_MODS= option is not working for me. I have attached the mondoarchive, mondorestore logs and the lsmod output for test 3 (FORCE_MODS="hid_microsoft hid-microsoft"). I am also including the lsmod from my system. Mondorescue Version: libmondorescue-perl 3.2.2-1 mindi 3.0.2-1 mindi-busybox 1.21.1-1 mondo 3.2.2-1 I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on a Dell XPS 8300. Below are the output of the lsb_release and uname commands. mark@MU:~$ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS Release: 14.04 Codename: trusty mark@MU:~$ uname -a Linux MU 3.13.0-93-generic #140-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jul 18 21:21:05 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Please let me know what I can do to get the keyboard module loaded during boot. - Mark |

Hello,
>From your logs, it seems originally you had /dev/sdi as backup media and at restore time it's seen as /dev/sdb.
So by adapting to this you should be able to restore. Victor gave the right advise.
Now seems your device is not correctly seen:
Mounting USB device (/dev/sdb1) on /mnt/cdrom.............mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail ...
I wonder whether the size of that device is a problem (limit is normally at 2 TB, not 1)
Can you mount that device under Linux ?
Bruno.

Hi there, I seem to have an issue with mindi. It looks like the 173M filesystems it creates are not big enough, and I have not yet found a config variable to make them bigger. Hi Bruno / Mondo Devs, We are trying to perform a restore on our HP gen9 blade servers, but its failing with the error message 'mondorescue not found'. I guess its not mounting the LVM ? The same backup/restore is working on our Gen8 blades. I am not sure if it matter or not, but our bootmode is set to legacy, not UEFI. We are running SLES 11 SP3 11.3.22 Logs are attached. > uname -a Linux e13gmpc7 3.0.101-0.47.55-default #1 SMP Thu May 28 08:25:11 UTC 2015 (dc083ee) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Name: mondo Version: 3.0.4-1.sles11 e13gmpc7:~ # df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/system_vg-root_vol 197G 95G 93G 51% / udev 32G 288K 32G 1% /dev tmpfs 32G 0 32G 0% /dev/shm /dev/sda2 494M 42M 427M 9% /boot /dev/sda3 494M 82M 387M 18% /bootbak e13gmpc7:~ # lvdisplay --- Logical volume --- LV Name /dev/system_vg/root_vol VG Name system_vg LV UUID My8KCc-Pukk-cesq-POz4-lHgF-E3Vk-40Xwk9 LV Write Access read/write LV Creation host, time linux, 2015-09-02 11:06:04 +1000 LV Status available # open 1 LV Size 200.00 GiB Current LE 51200 Segments 1 Allocation inherit Read ahead sectors auto - currently set to 1024 Block device 253:1 Kind Regards, Tim Kedmenec |

Hello, I'm looking for the above version, hoping to solve my problems while restoring (cp437). To my regret I can't find it in the download list. Should I have stronger glasses ? Thank You for Your eyes Peter |

I concur...use "-T" to specify a path to a directory on a filesystem
with plenty of space to use for temp files.
A number of newer versions of Linux by default now use a ramdisk for
/tmp (Fedora for instance). It's set to suck up 50% of your RAM for
that, so /tmp can only be half your RAM size and, of course, that RAM
is not available for anything else. What a moronic decision! I bought
RAM to run applications, not to have half of it sucked up to support a
ramdisk-based /tmp!
Yes, you can override it and actually use disk for /tmp by doing some
voodoo ("systemctl mask tmp.mount" and rebooting), but you sure as
hell shouldn't have to. The idiots that made this stupid decision
suggest you now use /var/tmp for temp files, but 99% of applications
out there (including Mondo) are written to use /tmp and just "break"
because of this. Fortunately, Mondo does have the "-T" option, but many
apps do not.
If you're stuck with this ramdisk /tmp, then I'd suggest adding "-T
/var/tmp" to your command line.

Hello All,
we are experimenting with mondoarchive and we always finish with /tmp out
of space.
How much space is needed by mondoarchive ?
Any idea how to fix our error ?
====
Our backup script:
BYSX0043:~ # cat mondo_mindi_bkp.sh
#!/bin/bash
DATE=`date |awk ' {print $3$2$6}'`
#export TMPDIR="/mnt/hd/tmp"
/usr/sbin/mondoarchive -OV -i -d /mnt/hd/FS/bysx0043 -p
"bysx0043-"$DATE -N -s 4480m -E "/tmp /mnt /var/log /app/oracle
/app/11.2.0"
When we execute this mondo backup. The backup terminated with error
message no space on /tmp device
mondoarchive.log:
afio: "/tmp/mondo.tmp.ycpTf2/tmpfs/284.afio.bz2" [offset 9531m+384k+0]:
No space left on device
Our /tmp have 15G:
BYSX0043:~ # df -h |grep /tmp
/dev/mapper/vg00-lvtmp 15G
3.1G 11G 23% /tmp
When I try to redirect TMPDIR to other location by setting TMPDIR
variable... So I have another error.
I mean that it is because I was redirect TMPDIR to the NFS location and
there mondo can't create device file with special permission.
mondoarchive.log:
cp: cannot create special file
`/mnt/hd/tmp/mondo.tmp.BeRO21/bigdir/dev/boot_device': Permission denied
Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry to be clumsy. I tried to follow Your advice. And it took me some time to understand how the mindi-parm usb works. But /dev/sdb would not work though blkid shows device sdb1. Now I have a suspect: I have used (I confess simple minded) the Toshiba 1tb as is. It is *vfat*. I think mindi can't handle this miraculous organization. (attached the restore log) regards Peter p.s. meanwile i will try with ext4-archive |

Hi, When mondo can mount the backup successfully, it automatically untar images/all.tar.gz, then mondo can find the files mondorestore, etc. There is an "usb" option that you could try, check: /usr/share/doc/mindi/README.bootparam or: http://trac.mondorescue.org/browser/branches/3.0/mindi/README.bootparam Examples: boot: expert usb=/dev/sdb boot: interactive usb=/dev/sdb Rgds, Victor -----Original Message----- From: Peter Hölzel [mailto:p_h...@t-...] Sent: jeudi 28 juillet 2016 19:52 To: mon...@li... Subject: [Mondo-devel] mondorestore not on archive media Hello and good evening (in Europe), I have (meanwhile) successful created an archive which I want to restore on a second PC. To my regret the mini is loaded from the media but the restore wouldn't start because mondorestore is not found. Prior to this the attempt to mount /dev/sdi1 on the target PC failed (/dev/sdi1 was the target-media). How can I overcome this problem ?
