Hello , I have taken mondoarchive backup on SLES 11.2 virtual machine.when i am going to install it through that mondorescue.iso image it is not comming up. So before going to create mondoarchive backup image is there any need to specify modules to load on vmware virtual machine in /usr/sbin/mindi script FORCE_MODS. Currently we are having V SPHERE 5.0.Is it require any extra module to boot the mondorescue.iso image. Any Help highly appreciated. Thank you. |

Hello, Is there an option to disable waiting for raid software sync in case of using software raid? I was trying today to replace my HDDs (from 100 GB to 2 TB) and looking at /proc/mdstat I have seen that I have to wait 4 hours (probably more as it is a simple estimation). My system is a quite old one (Centos 5.10) and most probably my SATA controller is the bottle-neck here. However, during OS installation the MD devices are just created and re-sync is done in the background, without interfering with the installation. I have understand that it is best to wait for resync before do anything else - but could there be an option to disable it in 'expert' mode. Waiting for your feedback, -- Ioan |

In file

(2) To mount the entries in fstab with the disk name changed the fallowing
#Yast disk
setting -->device name
(3)Made some changes in mindi script
#vi /usr/sbin/mindi
#DENY_MODS="MPS_Driver_Mapper mps octtldrv tscttl streams kqemu fdomain"
DENY_MODS="kqemu vxfen scsi_debug"- - - - >added these entries
# Force some modules to be included

After the backup competed i created new machine and try to install it with
the modoarchiveiso image.with nuke i installed it

Hello Victor, I'm glad you spend your time to answer me, but I need some more information or confirmation that I understand correctly what you explained to me. I've read your answer as well as linked issue, but I cannot understand what should I change. As you said in my mondo-restore.cfg file I have line "backup-media-type netfs", in fact I can find there more information about my NFS server and settings I chose during mondoarchive run. Should I change this configuration? It does not make sense to me, because I would like to use my backup which is present on NFS server, so what is there really to change in cfg file (I feel like it is fine - proper to what I am trying to achieve). I think the problem is with this image I use :( When I used unetbootin to extract bootable image on my USB and I try to boot from this USB there is mentioned error and everything stops right away. I have only console access with "sh-4.3#" but when I try mondorestore here I got simply "sh: mondorestore: command not found", so from this point I have no idea what should I do. I am not even sure how this should work. Should this USB boot properly, mound my NFS and use ISO from it to start mondorestore? Is this correct path? Have you managed to see my usecase to work before, I mean do mondoarchive using NFS as backup. Then I have couple of ISO files on my NFS server, then create bootable USB with small mondorestore.iso image and backup to bare metal machine? Regards, Michał [Quoted message] Hi, By modifying your mondo-restore.cfg by hand, it should be possible to restore. Check it, in that file the backup-media-type is surely set to “netfs”, as you backuped through NFS. In your mondorescue iso file, backup-media-type is set in mondo-restore.cfg file, which is in tmp directory, itself in images/all.tar.gz * Check my advise (6 Apr 11:43) in: http://blog.gmane.org/gmane.linux.mondo.devel/month=20110401: * a mondo-restore.cfg of a direct mondoarchive backup in a directory, should contain : * backup-media-type iso * a mondo-restore.cfg of a direct mondoarchive backup on a USB hard disk, should contain (for example) : * usb-dev /dev/sdb backup-media-type usb Rgds Victor From: Michał Skoczylas [mailto:mpskoczylas@...] Sent: mercredi 17 septembre 2014 15:18 To: mondo-devel@... Subject: [Mondo-devel] Mondorescue - backup over NFS - CDROM problem Hello, I've created NFS backup using mondoarchive, then using unetbootin I created bootable USB with /var/cache/mindi/mondorescue.iso. When I boot this Mindi linux from my USB, I got similar message as here: http://mondorescue-mailing-list.679749.n3.nabble.com/Mondo-devel-Mondorescue-backup-over-NFS-wants-to-restore-from-CD-td4025660.html Which basically is: " Optimizing IDE drive access...cat: can't open '/tmp/CDROM-LIVES-HERE': No such file or directory I don't know where the CDROM lives. Optimization cancelled. Executing preliminary script The mondorestore command was not found on your backup media It may mean your device is not seen correctly. Check driver list and error messages. Type 'exit' to reboot the PC" and I got bash access, but no mondorestore command can be found. So my first question regards this problem and I would like to know how to boot and restore using this iso image. I also attach my log files. I use Linux Mint 17 with repositories for Ubuntu 14.04, all newest versions. I have also another more general question regarding NFS backup. I would like to create backup in some other form than ISO files, is there any other format possible? So I would like to know how to backup my data with no compression and no archive, preferably pure data. I tried to use option -u for streaming device but still I get data that are a little bit archived and I do not really know how to deal with them, because I see binary files all over the backup. My use case is to get as pure data as possible with no concern about disc space. Hi all,
I had a system disk crash when I got back from summer holidays.
Just to remind me how the life is :D
Fortunately, my data disk was ok and I had a mondo save on safe place.
Anyway, as it was time for me to replace my ubuntu system to a Debian
one (I prepared that move for some time) I just installed Wheezy and
reconnect my data disk on it. All was fine.
It was also time for me to test in real conditions my mondo savings with

Boot on the mondorescue CD. (expert)

Hi, By modifying your mondo-restore.cfg by hand, it should be possible to restore. Check it, in that file the backup-media-type is surely set to “netfs”, as you backuped through NFS. In your mondorescue iso file, backup-media-type is set in mondo-restore.cfg file, which is in tmp directory, itself in images/all.tar.gz * Check my advise (6 Apr 11:43) in: http://blog.gmane.org/gmane.linux.mondo.devel/month=20110401: * a mondo-restore.cfg of a direct mondoarchive backup in a directory, should contain : * backup-media-type iso * a mondo-restore.cfg of a direct mondoarchive backup on a USB hard disk, should contain (for example) : * usb-dev /dev/sdb backup-media-type usb Rgds Victor From: Michał Skoczylas [mailto:mps...@gm...] Sent: mercredi 17 septembre 2014 15:18 To: mon...@li... Regards, Michal |
