I haven't received my email from the script yet, so I'll not know either until later tonight or in the morning. If appears that it takes a huge amount of time on certain "objects" and appears to stall, when in fact, this version continues after a while. It may have just been coincidence that the first few stalled around 33%. Other ISOs were made fairly quickly, and some stalled, but on different percentages, and did finish. There were no seg faults when I left, so it is in the area of that stall that is causing the problem with the latest release. I imagine it is with the compression of large files, but can't be sure. Why store them on a USB key, and not also on a remote server for PXE boot ? That's the easiest way IMO, and nothing needed on the server side. With your iLO you can position th boot order the way you want remotely as well. > My only issue is NFS! I really hate it! Is there any other way round? For network backup no. But you can make local backups, ... that end up riting on an SMB share. Or if you have enough room, store the ISO on the disk, and then copy them with scp, ftp, whatever is convenient for you. Hello, I have a problem with my restores failing to boot. They get as far as "Grub loading 1.5 read error". It's my first attempt with mondo (which looks very neat), and this is on a suse 10.1 box. Any clues, or assuming the rest of the restore is ok, any ideas how it can be made to boot somehow? Best wishes Adrian |

New data: The message, below, related to my practice of MondoArchiving to a local disk, then using another program to burn CD/DVD media. FYI: My experience today with MondorArchiving directly to media using a DVD showed that the second medium must be a DVD as well, and MondoArchive (2.2.0) complains until it is. So, mixed media appear to work with reading, but not recording. --Carol Anne _____ From: Carol Anne Ogdin [mailto:ca...@gm...] Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2006 8:41 PM To: 'mon...@li...' Subject: Good News About Media I have an image that is in two parts: One DVD (4.2GB), and about 300 MB left over. So, I burned the second iso to a CD. The DVD boots, and when the second disk goes in, even though it's a CD, it works just fine. Nice touch, guys. Thanks. --Carol Anne |

When I look into /root/images/mindi, I find two identical ISO files: mindi.iso and mondorescue.iso. I compared them, byte-for-byte, and they are identical. Is there some reason there are two copies of the same thing there? Could one of them be removed (or not created)? (I think mondorescue.iso should be the survivor; it's name makes more end-user sense.) --Carol Anne |

Bruno, FYI: I uninstalled the latest version, and installed the 2.09 set of mondo/mindi along with busybox. I had been running 2.08 before this all started. It looks as though the 2.09 set shows a similar symptom, but does not seg fault. The strangeness seems to continue to show up so far once the ISO creation for each image reaches 32-34% - at that time the reported "time to go" climbs significantly until (in the 2.09 version) it finally finishes whatever it is doing (or in the 2.2. version) in seg faults The percentage used of the ISO stalls for a while in both versions. I don't really know what this means, but I figured I'd report it. Thanks. Dear all and trac, Thanks for your reply. Firstly,if I can provide any help on building a mondorescue package which contains all the dependencies on slackware,I will do it if time allowed. Secondly, especially on slackware using package, you really have hard time when installing mondorescue because there are many dependencies-->"Headache".As a result, building a slackware package for mondorescue will solve the problem completely. Well,I have to dive in and do much more research on what should I need to build mondorescue now. -- Best regards, Angelo On 10/31/06, MondoRescue <tr...@sv...> wrote: > > #93: Install on a slackware > > ---------------------+------------------------------------------------------ > Reporter: noram68 | Owner: bruno > Type: task | Status: assigned > Priority: normal | Milestone: 2.2.1 > Component: mondo | Version: 2.0.9 > Severity: normal | Resolution: > Keywords: | > > ---------------------+------------------------------------------------------ > Changes (by bruno): > > * status: new => assigned > * cc: => mon...@li... > > Comment: > > # *What can I do to install mondorescue easily on Slackware 10.2/11?* > > Sorry, I've had no time to look at creating proper packages for Slackware. > If you're ready to help here, I can integrate those packages in the SVN > tree and produce them regularly. I agree here as the log just sort of ends very politely with the last good segment. This is a very large server in terms of disk space. It's a backup server of another server that currently creates 40+ disks during it's mondo backup. If it would help, I could compile the source and run under dbg as described in the wiki(?). I am not a very proficient programmer, though, so all of the results would need be reviewed by someone else. The version I have now was installed using the RH EL 3 rpm. Thanks for the response. With both drives installed, LILO reports "Duplicate Volume ID" (and proceeds to boot from the first drive, which is the original), so that part restores properly. I'll zero the MBR of the second drive in the morning and see if what got restored to '/boot' looks sane. --Carol Anne |

Dear all, I was using Mondo back in year 2000 on RedHat 8 and think it is an excellent backup program. However,I have many troubles using it on Slackware 10.2. As you may know,RedHat is using RPM as package management which mondo also use RPM.In Slackware 10.2,there are no RPM but slackware package. As a result,I have to compile all the program which mindi and mondo will use.Worse still, after I follow the software requirement list on mondorescue website, the program still complains that I did not install related packages. My question is: 1. *What can I do to install mondorescue easily on Slackware 10.2/11?* 2. *What's the complete software list which I have to install alongside with mindi and mondo besides the list on website?* Your reply is appreciated. -- Best regards, Angelo |

You can try to use the CLI option for that (-l GRUB). Reiserfs is supported, but could you provide your /var/log/mondoarchive.log please so that I can see what happened.
