Well, I need to download the ISOs, build the 2 VMs (i386, x86_64), setup pb in it, create afio/buffer for it if they do not exist, and finally mondo. I generally discourage people to do installation manually from source as it requires more knowledge, and is less documented as you experienced. Based on your findings, feel free to update the wiki at http://trac.mondorescue.org/wiki/DistributionPackaging The HOWTO is clearly outdate wrt that :-( You should install mindi-busybox first to avoid warning on this. I fixed the error on the ln message. And to install you need to be root. But check before it will do what you expect wrt paths. HTH, bruno. Am I correct in that > statement, and if so, can you suggest any alternatives? It's a long time since I did anything on the iA64 side. I still have machine which I could turn on again BTW to build/debug stuff in case it would be mandatory. The build for ia64 should NOT require syslinux BTW. But I see that it does in the spec file :-(. I hope you don't use x86_64 packages. You can always force the install BTW with the --nodeps option of rpm. I'll create a bug report for that. While I tested MondoRescue on ia64, I've not done many tests with SLES so you may have issues due to that. Also at restore time, there was an issue on ia64 with console management, that may well be fixed now, but gain wasn't tested. Let us know your progress. Hello all - I've used Mondo on all of my i386 and x86_64 based systems, and I love it as a DR solution. I have a particular server that uses the IA64 Itanium architecture running SLES 10 with GRUB as the bootloader. The issue I have is that in order to install mindi, it requires syslinux to be installed. Looking at the syslinux.org site and reading through some of the mailing list archives, it appears syslinux does not support - nor do they ever intend to support - IA64-based architectures. Am I correct in that statement, and if so, can you suggest any alternatives? Chris |

Further experimentation, this behavior does not happen with a compressed (my command line used -0 before, use -1 and it works) backup. Thanks, Will for your prompt reply, I downloaded the component installation files you suggested but could not get beyond the Busybox installation (it worked). So I went into the /root system and deleted all references to mindi in my search results, and tried installation again without success. I then changed again to /root and tried to install under it with failure again. Whereas my original problem was inability to run Mindi, my current problem is inability to install the newest version. Have not tried Mondo installation, as I believe that it is dependent upon Mindi. In addition to the mindi.log, I have attached 3 screenshots, the last one of which shows an attempt to install Mindi under the /root directory. As a final thought, the error messages stating that "no such file or directory" exists appear to be incorrect. Parted2fdisk does exist, as does parted2fdisk.pl. Hi Folks, Pardon me - I am mailing for the first time on this list. Yesterday night I upgraded from Kubuntu 13.10 to 14.04. + I installed few more softwares. Today I wanted to backup my linux image using mondo rescue. However it's available only till 13.10. Can you help me in getting mondorescue installed on 14.04 ? What packages should I be using to compile from source (and steps / dependencies to do so) ? Or atleast by when can I expect a 14.04 deb file to be available ? Thanks and Regards, Anshul Ranjan |

Hello, i'm still trying to make that 3.2.0 version available, but I encounter issues with systemd for the NFS/network setup, in particular with the renaming of interfaces. What I can propose, is that I make a new version for you to test on RHEL6 x86_64 this week-end and see if what I fixed since is helping or ot in your case. Should work for RHEL6 which doesn't use systemd. FYI I've been able to make a full backup/restore with the latest test version I have on fedora 20 (so this fixes the symlinks nightmare with /bin /sbin), so we should be now soon from a first version proposed publicly for the community to test. Well, in that case, I think that's not a bug in mondo as the same code base works on 2 different versions and locally vs remotely. So I'd search rather on the NFS conf side (default options changing between revisions e.g.) or security modification. Are you using the same FS on the server side each time, ... the lastest versions of the core components are mondo 3.0.4-1, mindi 2.1.7-1, and mindi-busybox 1.18.5-3.
