This mondoarchive run did not use the "-p" option.. when the iso files were created, they had the default names: mondorescue-1.iso, mondorescue-2.iso, etc: -rw-r--r-- 1 nobody nobody 675393536 Oct 31 09:23 mondorescue-1.iso -rw-r--r-- 1 nobody nobody 672808960 Oct 31 09:46 mondorescue-2.iso -rw-r--r-- 1 nobody nobody 131891200 Oct 31 09:49 mondorescue-3.iso For some reason, the restore processes are looking for 1.iso, 2.iso, etc. Earlier, we set "-p" to the hostname (hostname-1.iso, etc) and the restore processes were looking for mondorescue-1.iso, etc). That's why we dropped the "-p" switch. You have issue for the NFS mount:
running: mount /tmp/isodir//int-mbox3/iso_10-31-05_0902/1.iso -t iso9660
-o loop,ro /mnt/cdrom > /tmp/mondo-run-prog-thing.tmp 2> /tmp/mondo-run-prog-thing.err
--------------------------------start of output-----------------------------
/tmp/isodir//int-mbox3/iso_10-31-05_0902/1.iso: No such file or directory
--------------------------------end of output------------------------------
...ran with res=8192
[Main] mondo-rstr-tools.c->mount_cdrom#807: Failed to mount CD-ROM drive
.
Check /etc/exports and error messages on the server side.
Bruno.

That is how I use it. Of course you need to burn the isos to CDs or store them on another machine for later burning to disks so you can restore from them. In the case of a file server for example, where the data is backed up to tape using a different program, I use mondo just to be able to do a bare metal restore of the OS, after which I will restore the data from tape using the other program. This keeps the mondo archive down to 1 or 2 CDs. -- Mark Nienberg, SE Tipping Mar + associates 1906 Shattuck Ave Berkeley, CA 94704 (510) 549-1906 ext 236 http://www.tippingmar.com |

Mondoarchive backup completes successfully.. ran it with and without "-p" option set. The restore fails.. mondo logs end with: Cannot find config info on tape/CD/floppy At 03:00 PM 10/27/2005, you wrote: >Eric Gerritsen said on Thu, Oct 27, 2005 at 01:41:26PM -0700: > > > Do you have rpms for RHEL 3.0 on Intel Xeon procs (HP DL380 servers)? > >Here: > >ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/mondorescue/rhel/3/mindi-1.04_berlios-90.rhel3.i386.rpm >ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/mondorescue/rhel/3/mondo-2.04_berlios-90.rhel3.i386.rpm > >Bruno >-- >Linux Solution Consultant / Open Source Evangelist \ HP C&I EMEA ISG >HP/Intel Solution Center http://hpintelco.net Hewlett-Packard Grenoble/France >Des infos sur Linux? http://www.HyPer-Linux.org http://www.hp.com/linux >La musique ancienne? http://www.musique-ancienne.org http://www.medieval.org > > >------------------------------------------------------- >This SF.Net email is sponsored by the JBoss Inc. >Get Certified Today * Register for a JBoss Training Course >Free Certification Exam for All Training Attendees Through End of 2005 >Visit http://www.jboss.com/services/certification for more information >_______________________________________________ >Mondo-devel mailing list >Mon...@li... >https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mondo-devel |

ok i will skip the floppy creation what i am doing is to store iso's on the hard disk i.e. not selected 'writing iso's to cd' option. Is this possible to have bare metal restore from iso's that mondoarchive has made for me i.e. just have to use the iso's and mondoresore to reinstall the OS and all my data, is this will be still possible. If that is the case, you may want to have mondoarchive write iso files and you can burn them to CDs yourself. Something like this: mondoarchive -Oi -d /share/iso -s 700m -F -E "/share /var/spool/mail" |

Easiest way is to include the parameter "-F" on your mondoarchive command line. Mark Nienberg |

Hello Bruno, Installed the new rpms.. the nfs mount timeout issue is resolved, however mondorescue aborts early on with the following messages: ....cannot find config info CD/Tape/Floppy". The GUI gives a message that says: "Failed to find config .... file/archive ... choose another source". hi guys, i am again facing the similar problems with mondoarchive. I am getting the following error, i was told to use the updated or latest versions of mondo and mindi and i updated but still the same problems. The log file is also attached with this. Writing boot+data floppy images to disk Boot+data floppy creation failed. However, FYI, you may burn /root/images/mindi/mondorescue.iso to a CD and boot from that instead if you wish. Thanks |

If it works don't break it ;-) There is no need to upgrade for people for which everything is working. there is need to upgarde for those running through NFS, unable to create the mindi env (kernel too big). And soon, Andree will commit a patch to solve the issue around 'grep not found' and the like. So I only advise to people having issues to take the new version. Of course, if you want to help, try it and report back here whether it's working or not for you. This is always helping. Andree and I are now working with a new SVN repository and our goal is: 1/ To allow mondorescue to continue living with a new SVN repository 2/ To fix bugs mainly on 2.04/1.04 branch on Berlios (you may use the bug tracking ystem at http://mondorescue.berlios.de) 3/ To add ia64 full support to 2.04/1.04 branch on Berlios 4/ To work on memory allocation for the next version (the idea is to remove all sprintf, strcat, strcpy from the current code, so no really new function, but better security). This is for the trunk branch on Berlios, which should become 2.05. As well as trying to remove fixed limits in the code. 5/ Support for new distributions, hardware conf, ... for the trunk branch on Berlios We have currently no possibility to modify something on mondorescue.org. Hugo gave us the right to continue the development, but we need also to work on the Web site, the delivery process, the domain name, ... We will see that with Hugo when he has time and when we are ready to do something for it. Mr. Cornec, I realize that you are putting a lot of effort into Mondo, and have a question. Thanks for all of those efforts, BTW. Most of the posts now suggest downloading 2.04 from the monodrescue.berlios.de site as opposed to the mondorescue site. I have been running 2.04 for quite some time with RPMs from the mondorescue site. There appears to be no problems with backup/restore the last time I tested. Should I upgrade (uninstall-reinstall) your RPMs or do you feel confident with what was originally out there? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to do so, and will probably do so soon. This is just a 'how urgent is it' type question. Is anyone aware of problems that existed with the original 2.04 RPMs that I may not have run into yet that would make this more urgent? You may also be interested by the -p option I added recently to
mondoarchive (on top of the nolock issue missing in the official
version).

Yes, we're using "-n".
From the mondoarchive wrapper script:
dt=`date +%m-%d-%y_%H%M`
iso_dir="iso_${dt}"
hostName=`/bin/hostname|/bin/sed 's/\..*$//g'`
NFS_VOL="128.149.197.178:/data/email"
MOUNT_PT="/mondo"
TDIR="/var/tmp"
SDIR="/var/tmp"
MISC_ARGS="-9 -F -N"
EXCLUDES="$MOUNT_PT /afs "
NFS_DIR="/${hostName}/${iso_dir}"
#
# Run mondoarchive:
#
mondoarchive -On $NFS_VOL $MISC_ARGS -T $TDIR -S $SDIR -d
$NFS_DIR -E "$EXCLUDES"
