I enjoy reading anything by Chris Hedges. I agree with much that he says. The problem is that, with his religious background, he simply refuses to recognize racial and ethnic realities.

The best example? Somalis. Not a single one should be living in our country. This should be obvious to anybody. If there is one group of people on earth with no redeeming features, that group is the Somalis. Yet Hedges thinks it is Nazism to toss them back to where they came from.

The same with every other loser group in the country. Low I.Q., lazy, incompetent, venal, shiftless scum. All the same to Hedges.

William Gayley Simpson was once a pastor like Hedges. He believed all the crap about the poor down trodden. He wasted years trying to help them. Eventually a light went off in his head. They were just worthless bums and had created their own circumstances. He left the ministry.

The Maduro regime – like the Chavez regime before it – was a typical Communist dictatorship, supported by the worst elements in Venezuelan society. The Cubans controlled it, and the Iranians, Hezbollah, and the Russians benefited from it. The Chinese looted the country. The Colombian Communist guerrillas used it as a safe haven and cocaine conduit. The massive Biden open borders operation was directed from Venezuela.

A common element among people writing here on Latin America is almost total ignorance of the truth about the danger from our enemies in that part of the world.

Cuban special forces troops surround Maduro, or he would have already been overthrown. The Cubans control the Venezuelan intelligence services and even control passports and cedulas.

The crisis with Venezuela is not a result of U.S. actions. Chavez, and then Maduro, forged alliances with Colombian drug traffickers and Communist terrorists (FARC and ELN) to profit from the drug trade. Venezuela also financed extreme leftist political campaigns across the continent, illegally in most instances. The regime has routinely used criminal gangs to intimidate the Venezuelan people.

Russia, China, Iran, and Hezbollah have all been welcomed with open arms by Chavez and Maduro.

Foolish, uninformed Americans do not understand that the Cubans and their Communist allies across the region never paused their “war” against the US and its friends in the region after the fall of the wall. Venezuelan money has kept Cuba afloat, barely.

Trump is determined to eliminate these pests in the Western Hemisphere, and it is about time. The Extreme left in Latin America has accomplished absolutely nothing except death, repression, hatred, and misery. After Venezuela the screws will be tightened on Cuba, and you better believe they know it. Your humble opinion is incorrect, from the standpoint of common sense, lived experience, and science. The unfortunate truth is that sub-Saharan Africans are so completely different from other humans that the chances are that the child will revert no matter what how he is raised, and the more African blood the more likely this is. Interracial adoption is wrong and should be outlawed. If you want to help, send money, you do not bring them into your home. There will always be exceptions, but do not bank on it.

I understand what you are saying. I was there in the late 1980’s and, on the surface, it was glittering – until I got caught in the Caracazo riots. I knew the wealthy Venezuelans were mostly (not all) swine, but after that I knew the place was a time bomb. Yes, the women are beautiful if they are middle or upper class. But Colombian girls are just as beautiful and not nearly as cold and materialistic. A Venezuelan woman will peel you like a banana when she gets ready to divorce you. Much less common in Colombia.

You are 100 percent correct. Read the book, “Venezuela’s Collapse”, by Carlos Lizarralde. It is all there. Chavez a “man of the people”. Yeah, he sure is. A perfect low class, resentful, violent example of the people who support him. I saw those “people” streaming into Colombia, looking for something to eat. Welcoming at first (as Colombians usually are) they were horrified to see what those “people” are really like. In Colombia, it was unusual for a mugger to harm you; they just wanted your money. Venezuelan muggers shot you in the face without even asking.
As for what Americans are called in Latin America, it is usually just “Americanos” or gringos (though usually without the pejorative tone often used in Mexico). Americans won the title of “American” on the battlefield in 1776, the first ones to do so. Yes, our neighbors are also Americans, but we claimed the title first, and created the greatest country in history. Usonians? Never heard it, ever. As for the other clumsy names, such as norteamericanos, we accept it as a courtesy.

This is the most absurd article I have read in a long time. Vogel knows nothing about Latin America, the United States, and, especially, Venezuelans. I spent my entire career in Latin America. I lived in Venezuela, Colombia, and many other Latin American countries.
I found Venezuelans to be the most cowardly, dishonest, lazy, thuggish creeps south of the border. Each Latin American country is different and I have loved them all, for many reasons. There is one exception: Venezuela. Venezuela is what happens when you murder most of the white people (during the war of independence both sides winnowed the white population) and replace it with a racial chaos of some of the worst human material on the planet. Foreigners built Venezuela, not the Venezuelans. The joke was that the perfect job for a Venezuela was elevator operator in an automatic elevator. Tough? Sure, if 50 of them surround some hapless motorist who has had a fender bender with one of the criminal lunatics on motorcycles that make life in Caracas so pleasant. The people who support Maduro are a collection of worthless trash. And, yes, Maduro and his corrupt generals are up to their ears in the cocaine trade, because they work directly with the Colombian FARC and Colombian narcotics traffickers. Venezuela is the bridge from Colombia to Europe for drugs, and everybody knows it. Many “Chavistas”, rich from narco money, live in south Florida. Speaking of Colombia, that country more closely describes Vogel’s Venezuela. Colombians are tough, brave, far more white, and with an educational and cultural level miles above Venezuela. There is a reason Bolivar chose to govern from Bogota and not Caracas. To be sure, there are decent Venezuelans, especially outside of Caracas. I feel for them. They are trapped. I hope Trump does not bomb them, as we do not need another basket case to take care of, like Haiti.
