My prediction: the line between combatant and civilian would blur if Israel tried to frogmarch the Gazans to the west bank. The IDF would be repeatedly ambushed and caught in boobytrapped buildings, whilst trying to round up Gazans. The Arabs who end up being marched through Israel would be attacked by settlers, likely resulting in utter chaos.

And this is BEFORE the IDF even get down to dealing with Hamas proper!! Holed up in tunnels, the resistance might be able to mount surprise attacks for a year. The only way to clear out the tunnels is to enter them. If Hamas are there, they will ambush the IDF. If Hamas are no longer there, the tunnels will be rigged to explode.

Because human capital responds similarly, increases in effect can be obtained by targeting top technical and leadership people at the same time.
When it gets tough to find or organize war production because no one with resources will play along - well that's some change. And you didn't have to kill half million Ukrainian Joe's to do it. You didn't need to force you military production into three shifts, didn't have to lose 100,000 of your own men.
You see, more efficient! And that doesn't count the civilian side losses.
