Hi All, Well finally I have managed to get the windows version working (well sort of!). I find that it was missing many options that the CactiEZ version has that we are currently testing. We would like to have at least some of these options available on the windows version. I am assuming that they are "Addins" but there is no option for this on the windows version of have I missed something? How can I get the same functionality for the windows version? Likely you damaged your Graph Template then. You should take a closer look at it. So, data is likely still being collected. You should be able to repair your template. The key is understanding RRDtool syntax. Larry On 7/21/2011 6:19 AM, arif syed wrote: > Hi Adams, > Thanks for the response. I verified the log is clear. Hi Gandalf, Thanks for the response. I had already tried this with the help of Andi. It would actually appear to have been an Apache config issue extra lines were needed. Although I still do not have it working and I have no useful errors I am now suspecting that I may have an MySQL problem. I will have to do some more tests as I now get a 404 error. Thanks Andi, I added the line:- [Date] ; Defines the default timezone used by the date functions ; http://php.net/date.timezone date.timezone = GMT0 I tried both GMT and GMT0 so I guess that the format is wrong as it made not difference. Hi Adams,
I found that my RRD file is not updated for this graph template
only(mem2used). can you please help me how to check the template settings.
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti staff 12671584 16 Jul 23:47 *lpar112*
_mem2used_7497.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti staff 12671584 16 Jul 23:47 *lpar113*

-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti staff 12671584 16 Jul 23:47* lpar115*
_mem2used_7517.rrd
there is no graph for all the *nodes*. so suggesting there is some setting
changed in "mem2used" . Hope this will help to identify the issue.
Thanks,
Arif

hole graph template? or what i can check with graph template because the
graph suddenly stopped from last saturday only when i did the change. please
check the attached graph so that you can understand the issue better.
please let me know if you need more details.
Thanks,
Arif.

Hi, It may not be relevant. But i'd like to share with you this experience and hope to be part of the help in case, you have run into the same problem. Recently, I did an installation of Cacti (cacti-0.8.7g-2) on an x64 machine with CentOS 5.6. I changed the poller from cmd.php to spine and I happened to install the i386 cacti-spine package instead of the x64 cacti-spine package. Cacti log produced a lot of the error message "SNMP timed out" to some devices/hosts. After I removed the i386 package and installed the right x64 package, the error message was gone and everything has been working as expected till now. Thanks, Khem On 07/21/2011 07:10 AM, Matthew T. Yes, but plenty of other devices (of the same type) are not giving me these problems. I have raised the SNMP timeout from 500ms to 1000ms, 5000ms and 10000ms, and have also tried lowering max OIDs, as stated in my original e-mail, I decremented to 2. My SNMP retry count is 3. This particular device that I've applied these settings to has an average ICMP latency of 45ms. I can constantly snmpwalk (from the server Cacti is running on) and ping the device, with no interruption to my ping or snmpwalk - However, Cacti will log a timeout. It may be worthwhile mentioning, that on the actual device configuration page, the SNMP Information is showing the system, uptime, hostname, location and contact (the values we want it to).. Obviously, SNMP is working between Cacti and my suspect host. The system time is accurate, the uptime is incrementing every poll run. Cacti would have to execute an SNMP poll to obtain this information. If it is able to poll this information, I have to ask why, is my events log filled with SNMP timeout notifications for this host? Matthew, This is why the MAX_OID's is configurable by device. You will have to determine the optimal setting between timeouts and MAX_OID's. Generally embedded devices have less capabilities and can not return a very large number, where big iron can handle as high as say 60. Sent: Monday, July 18, 2011 11:49:13 PM Subject: [cacti-user] Cacti + SNMP Time out Hi All, I am wondering what considerations need to be made when using Cacti to poll Ubiquiti devices. I have a number of devices filling my event logs with SNMP timeouts. After troubleshooting, I found that it was due to the SNMP request buffer rejecting any number of OIDs aggregated in a single request that are above 2. This device in question is a Bullet2, running firmware version 3.6. This was verified by lowering the "Maximum OID's Per Get Request" value to 2, and incrementing. With this value set to 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, (I tried up to 11, but I logically assume from this it will also reject any number greater than 11). Ryan, The question is, what commands provide this information? If there is a Linux command that returns this information, you have a few options: 1) Use ssh with a key to poll the server. 2) Extend the snmp agent to cough up this information. It's not difficult and google will provide lot's of source information. 3) Request the net-snmp team to extend the default agent for this. "weak" network devices are know to react slowly to an SNMP "storm". Increasing timeout may help, then Increasing retries may help, but is not the best choice (this _increases_ SNMP storm) Reducing max_oid can help (when using SNMP V2) Reinhard On 20.07.2011 01:34, Matthew T. Hi Robert, Thank you for the reply. I have the SNMP Timeout value set globally for all devices at 500ms. I am operating a wireless fixed-point network, so the polling needs to be more intensive. Hi team,
We are using cacti as primary monitoring tool in our environment.
Suddenly we found that memory (user space) graph is missing for all the
nodes. I have tried restarting gmond service on cacti server but no luck.
please let me know which settings has to be verified. Attached screen shot
for your reference. please let me know if need more details.
OS : *AIX 5300-11-02-1007*
ganglia-gmond : *3.0.4-1*

Thanks,
Syed.

Hi All, I am wondering what considerations need to be made when using Cacti to poll Ubiquiti devices. See below logs. 5.15PM - Set to 11 max OIDs 5.20PM - Timeout. 5.20PM - Set to 10 max OIDs 5.26PM - Timeout. 5.26PM - Set to 5 max OIDs 07/08/2011 05:31:37 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[3400] TH[1] DS[35344] WARNING: SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host '10.10.128.11' 5.32PM - Max OIDs set to 4 07/08/2011 05:37:14 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[3400] TH[1] DS[35341] WARNING: SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host '10.10.128.11' 5.38PM - Max OID set to 3 07/08/2011 05:46:03 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[3400] TH[1] DS[35342] WARNING: SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host '10.10.128.11' 5.46PM - Set Max OIDs to 2. Monitored for 1 hour, no SNMP timeouts. Much to my horror, upon realizing that this morning, the SNMP logs are again filled with SNMP timeouts. I have lowered the Maximum OIDs value from 2 to 1, and the SNMP timeouts have again stopped. Why did the SNMP timeouts stop with 2 for so long, and then resume? 07/12/2011 08:00:47 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[3400] TH[1] DS[35350] WARNING: SNMP timeout detected [500 ms], ignoring host '10.10.128.11' Can anyone tell me how or what I should be doing to probe these devices to see what the SNMP buffer is like? Is there a way to see a maximum number of OIDs a particular device is capable of? Can this be changed? Polling 1 OID for each of my hosts will effectively increase traffic, so is not an ideal solution. -- As an additional question, can somebody tell me how these OIDs are pulled? I envisioned them to be aggregated into a single SNMPBulkGet request, however as you can see below, this is not the case.
