Hi, I don't know if it is cleanly, but I managed it by decreasing the polling-interval in my /etc/cron.d/cacti from 5 minutes to 1: MAILTO=root */1 * * * * www-data /usr/share/cacti/site/poller.php >/dev/null 2>/var/log/cacti/poller-error.log I had to do this, because I had too much 32-bit counter-wraps monitoring an 155 MBit STM-1 link in 5-minute-intervals :-/ No problems so far and the graphs look right (also at traffic over 100 MBit). Recently, Larry, the developer that is responsible for most of the poller code, has release a patch for multiple polling intervals. Go check out the forums in the Announcement forum. You can do 1 minute intervals, but you will need to alter the rra settings. Also, it is suggested that you use Larry's patch, so that you are only polling those things that you need to on 1 minute intervals. Note: This feature will be in 0.9.0 as well, the patch for 0.8.6 is currently "unsupported". But if you ask Larry nicely, he might help you out. :) Tony Cacti Developer Paul Ionescu wrote: > On Thu, 01 Jul 2004 16:43:16 +0200, vincent.haverlant wrote: > > >>Hi, >> >>I am wondering how to get a 1 minute step on my rras and graphs and how >>to do it cleanly in cacti. >> >>Anyone has a hint ? >> >>Vincent. >>-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > Hello Vincent, > > Have you managed to get 1 minute step for rras and graphs cleanly in cacti ? > I am interesting in the same thing right now, and a search in the list > archive returned your question posted some long time ago. > > Thanks, > Paul > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies > from IBM. I am interesting in the same thing right now, and a search in the list archive returned your question posted some long time ago. Thanks, Paul |

Hello, I'm having some problems graphing data from netacct-mysql Netacct stores total traffic per host per hour. I use a simple script to retrieve the traffic counters, but the problem is that every hour I get 100MB spikes on the graph. Needless to say, before using cacti I used mrtg for this, which worked ok... Any ideas ? Marius |

Cameron, keep in mind that the COUNTER ds (data source) is only for 32/64bit counters. If your data does not wrap around at either of those intervals, then you need to pick another ds. Have a look at DERIVE and see if it would suit you better. There does indeed appear to be a bug with the way cacti handles interface speeds, and if you closely in logfiles with debug turned up, you'll see error messages relating to rrd_maximum -- under our pgsql based install, for example: ERROR: column "rrd_maximum" of relation "data_template_data" does not exist When you create an interface, somehow it's storing the maximum speed value in the wrong table. It doesn't stop graphs working, as you've found out, but what you do get is every graph getting a default maximum speed of 100,000,000, because there is very little error checking. If you create a bits-per-second graph, then the rrd data will not be added at anything above 100Mbps. If you create a bytes-per-second graph, as appears to be the case here, values above 100*8 = 800Mbps will not be added to the rrd file, and thus the graph will appear to miss things. Work continues on our pgsql version, and we hope to be able to isolate the general cacti bugs into a one or more patches for inclusion in a later release. -aDe |

I draw a fiber interface the max bandwidth is 1000Mbit, my cacti can only draw band below 800M when the band increase to 920M ,990,..... the graph is empty such as http://61.188.179.177/test.jpg thx very much _________________________________________________________________ 与联机的朋友进行交流,请使用 MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com/cn |

Followed the instructions for graphing a single OID and am getting the following error in the in cacti.log 07/08/2005 03:40:02 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[2] DS[18] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: No Such Object avail When looking at the data source page the debug displays the following; Data Source Debug /usr/bin/rrdtool create \ /srv/www/htdocs/cacti/rra/cvosm80002_snmp_oid_43.rrd \ --step 300 \ DS:snmp_oid:GAUGE:600:0:10000000000 \ RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 \ RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 \ RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 \ RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 \ RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 \ RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 \ RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 \ RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797 \ The OID is correct .1.3.6.1.4.1.629.1.50.12.6.10.1.19.2.3502.2.1.2. and I've tried entering it with and without the final trailing "." and it makes no difference. If I use snmpwalk snmpwalk -v 2c -c <community> <ip address> .1.3.6.1.4.1.629.1.50.12.6.10.1.19.2.3502.2.1.2 I get the following result (which looks correct) SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.629.1.50.12.6.10.1.19.2.3502.2.1.2 =3D Counter64: 245910613674 Anyone got any ideas why cacti is barfing on the OID when snmpwalk gets the result back fine ? |

I think i figured it out. For some reason perl was removed from it's default path, so cron wasn't picking it up. I symlinked perl into /usr/bin and it seems to be working now. Thanks! Somehow all of my Interfaces* graphs templates didn't have a data source defined for inbound traffic. Adding the data source and recreating the graphs solved the problem. -- Joel Joel Nimety wrote: > When graphing interfaces using the In/Out Bits graph type all of my > graphs show identical statistics for InBound and OutBound traffic. When graphing interfaces using the In/Out Bits graph type all of my graphs show identical statistics for InBound and OutBound traffic. Has anyone seen this before? I'm using cactid 0.8.6e and cacti 0.8.6f. -- Joel Nimety Perimeter Internetworking Corp. |
