I am trying to graph the PPS processing of a (several) Cisco 4510R switch(es). These have 6x48 RJ45 port modules - a total of 288 interfaces. I'll go mad if I try to create so many graphs :(( That is not counting the handful of GBICs on these switches. Binand |

Don't know of any issues off hand. But there could be issues with the available php version. As for rrdtool, you might have to compile it. Greetings ... just wanted to introduce myself. Just curious here ... has anyone been able to install Cacti on AIX 5.2 ? If so, I would appreciate it if you could/would point me towards any documents or faq or relay to me any tips on a howto. Thanks in advance, Jay. Binand, I had to do something similar to create an aggregate traffic graph for several interfaces. There are probably several ways to do this in Cacti, but here's what I came up with: 1) Create a graph with all of the OIDs as graph items. 2) For all but one of them, change the line color to "none". 3) Create a custom cdef that does whatever math you're after. (For my graph, I added three inputs and then multiplied by 8 to turn bytes into bits:" a,b,+,c+,8,*". For you, I think it'd be something like "a,b,+,c,+,d,+,e,+,f,+,2,/") 4) Assign this cdef to the last graph item (the one that has a color assigned to it). No guarantees that this is exactly right, but I think this is one direction that might work out for you. -Andrew Binand Sethumadhavan wrote: >Hi All, > >I have a custom MRTG graph which I'd like to migrate to Cacti. > >The graph snmp-walks a number of OIDs: > >my @oids = ( > "1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.7", # ifHCInUcastPkts > "1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.8", # ifHCInMulticastPkts > "1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.9", # ifHCInBroadcastPkts > "1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.11", # ifHCOutUcastPkts > "1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.12", # ifHCOutMulticastPkts > "1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.13" # ifHCOutBroadcastPkts > ); > >Adds up all the numbers (for all interfaces on the switch), divides >the final result by 2 - to get an estimate of the PPS processing of a >catalyst switch. > >Can someone help me how I can migrate this to Cacti? I have seen a similar issue in the past in two situations, perhaps one of these is what's happening for you: 1) I inadvertantly was graphing the same object twice 2) My monitoring software's SNMP queries were slowing up the snmp daemon's response time. -Andrew Travis Roy wrote: > Attached is a graph. Attached is a graph. All devices are showing similar. I can't figure out why it's doing this. The poller isn't running extra long, or into the next poll length. intermittent We originally thought it was due to a co-worker's smoke ping script, and that was running long, but after we removed it the problem still exists. -- Travis Roy ColoSpace, Inc. tr...@co... 888-583-9200 office 603-315-0535 cell |

Thank you very mutch for your help. I find the OIDs in my MIB files, but now I have another question for you. What can I do to obtain Kbits or Kbits/sec. from this entry? Just ifInOctets*1024 (I intend ifInOctets as a counter)? By this way I obtain the real traffic for all the packets but not for real information trasmitted inside them. Or this information consist only of the real information trasmitted? I hope you can undersatand with my imperfect english. I just demonstrated Cacti at work, and got a demonstration on the currently running system (solarwinds.net). One notable thing was that in the Solarwinds system, you could select parts of a graph and get statistics from that marking... Hi I had the same problem and i fixed it, it's a bug, for some reason in console --> Data Templates section the Interface -Traffic template or another template duplicates some parameters in this case of Interface -Traffic, the traffic_in and traffic_out are duplicates... you will see two of both, you have to delete the duplicates and re-create de graphs. You can observe the real problem that's duplicates cause in console --> Data Sources and chosse you Data Source in question (Whith the Option: Turn On Data Source Debug Mode), you will something like that: /usr/bin/rrdtool create \/var/www/html/cacti/rra/some_device_traffic_out_105.rrd \--step 300 \DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 \ DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 \ --> Duplicate DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 \DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 \ --> DuplicateRRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 \RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 \RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 \RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 \RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 \RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 \RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 \RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797 \ Sorry for my english...i speak spanish, but I hope this help you. I noticed that the current released version on the site is 0.8.6d, but looking at CVS, it seems like theres a branch for the 0.8.6e version. Is that still in development, or just sitting there not being used? If I grabbed the RELEASE_0_8_6e branch from cvs, would this create a stable 0.8.6e release? I'm wondering because I'd like to add it into portage :) I just added a cvs snapshot for cactid today for people to test. Hi All,
I have a custom MRTG graph which I'd like to migrate to Cacti.
The graph snmp-walks a number of OIDs:
my @oids =3D (
"1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.7", # ifHCInUcastPkts
"1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.8", # ifHCInMulticastPkts
"1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.9", # ifHCInBroadcastPkts
"1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.11", # ifHCOutUcastPkts
"1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.12", # ifHCOutMulticastPkts
"1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.13" # ifHCOutBroadcastPkts
);
Adds up all the numbers (for all interfaces on the switch), divides
the final result by 2 - to get an estimate of the PPS processing of a
catalyst switch.
Can someone help me how I can migrate this to Cacti? The MRTG
configuration looks like:
Target[pps]: `/home/ppsmon/pps.pl`
MaxBytes[pps]: 102000
Title[pps]: PPS
PageTop[pps]: <H1>PPS Processing by Switch</H1>
Options[pps]: growright,nopercent,noinfo,noo
YLegend[pps]: Kpps
ShortLegend[pps]: Kpps
LegendI[pps]: Switch1
Thanks,
Binand

No, I do not beleive you are wrong. I believe this part is IMHO also the weak part of cacti. Hello Although after "Reading The Fine Manuals" I am getting stucked in a problem with making adding new graphs easily and friendly. I have written a script, a data input methods, a data template and 3 graph templates which collect and graph data from several Apache2 Instances. The datas for the 3 graphs are in one rrd-file per Virtual Host. On one physical machine I have up to 40 Virtual Hosts. Adding the Data Source then isn't a problem. I have to enter Hostname and VirtualHostname as the only arguments to the script. The problem comes when I like to add the 3 graphs from the Virtual Host to a Host. I have then in the part "Supplemental Graph Template Data" to manually pick the graph Item Fields out of tooo many Datasources from this host. Apparently this procedure is a pain in the ass and not very fault tolerant when I have to setup 200 redundant instances (8 Data Items) = 3200 times select the right graph item. I hope I explained it understandable. What I like is to change it the way that already when I add a Datasource where I specify Host and Virtual Host all is clear where the graph has to be placed and I don't have to add the graph manually by picking the right graph Item Fields. Any idea how I can make this a bit more automated, so that for the graphs always the right datasource is proposed? Has it sthg. to do with the message Data Source [Field Not Templated] in the Graph template?
