Hello, thanks for answer, The fact is I already read this how to and my snmp seems to be well configured, I didn't add " rocommunity public " Because I already have a working community, and anyway, I tried it, it changed nothing... And when I try manually the request to show BytesOut and ByteIn, it work nice... Basically, it work manually, informations catched by cacti are correct but when I want to add a query, it says no answer, try to run verbose query, and if I click on it, I have a Network_tcp error. Yeah, I confirm, Gandalf (from forums.cacti) said you can use php-snmp OR net-snmp... Issue must be somewhere else... Thanks for your help, Pierre. Hello,
I have installed cacti version 0.8.7a. I cant get it to graph squid on the proxy servers I am monitoring. I have imported the XML templates for Squid to the cacti machine and I included the following to the snmpd.conf and squid.conf file in the server squid is running on.
Snmpd.conf
proxy v 1 c public 127.0.0.1:3401 .1.3.6.1.4.1.3495.1
Squid.conf
acl ADMIN src 127.0.0.1/32
acl snmp snmp_community public
snmp_access allow SNMP ADMIN
snmp_incoming_address 0.0.0.0
snmp_outgoing_address 255.255.255.255
On the Associated Graph Template of the device I added, I can graph
SNMP Generic OID Template
Squid Cache Objects
Squid HTTP Data
Squid HTTP Requests
But on the Associate Data Queries, all the data queries show 0 items and 0 rows
When I debugged Webcache Squid Core, I get:
Data Query Debug Information
+ Running data query [12].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/html/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/webcache_squid_core.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.4.1.3495.1.3.2.1.11'
+ No SNMP data returned

+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/html/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/webcache_squid_core.xml'
When I debugged Squid , I get the following.
Data Query Information
+ Running data query [10].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/html/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/squid_service_time.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.

+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/html/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/squid_service_time.xml'
I dont know why I cant get anything to show in the Associate Data Queries. I might have done something wromg. Please if anyone can help.

Hi all, I already opened a case on the forum, but i get no answer, so I try here. I installed Cacti successfuly (I guess) few days ago, I can create "memory usage" or "disk space" properly for local host but when I try to add an "interface statistics" graph for a network device (a switch here), I got this in creation graph page: Data Query [SNMP - Interface Statis This data query returned 0 rows, perhaps there was a problem executing this data query. You can run this data query in debug mode to get more information. Actually it is the same for almost all request (excepted Unix), and when I clic on run this data query in debug mode, I have a tcp error: Network Error (tcp_error) A communication error occurred: "" The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time. For assistance, contact your network support team. Of course the server don't really have issue, all other applications on it are working properly. All path are ok, and when I run an snmp request manually, it works well... I didn't get the snmp.so library of php-snmp because I read on the net you can use the net-snmp which was alerady installed. What do you think could be the matter? Any informations could be really helpfull. Thank you guys! Hello Guys, I'm trying to replace the MRTG for Cacti. I didn't have any problem to do that. However after added some hosts I tried to create the graphs and it was the problem. The graphs is breaking, there is no images. What I must do ? Thank you. Cheers, Hugo |

Hello all, I did a hell lot of search, but nothing help me 'till here, here is my problem with the maximum of informations possible: I followed this : http://docs.cacti.net/node/137, to create a graph on one of my devices, but when I click the "create"button, i got a Network Error (tcp_error). Previously I had a "exceeded timeout of 30 secondes" from php, but Changed the php.ini file. I don't think it is a server issue, because i have some other applications running and everything works great... The devices look to be created (it appear in the devices list), but the main part of the time, I don't have the "snmp information" at the top of the page when i edit the device (mainly just "device is alive") When I click on "create a graph", the data query part display that : "This data query returned 0 rows, perhaps there was a problem executing this data query. You can run this data query in debug mode to get more information." but if I try to run in debug mode, I have a tcp error again. The poller don't seem to create the rrd files in /rra, I always have this kind of error: "ERROR: opening '/opt/home/netadmin/src/cacti-0.8.7a/rra/sacctok106_sg_asia_5min_cpu_16.rrd': No such file or directory" it looks like a permission issue but the user executing the poller (by crontab) and the owner of /rra are the same (anyway, for testing, I put 777 to /rra). Only the user for mysql database have a different name (but well informed in config.php. All the path in settings looks corrects, file are found and working manually launched. When I run poller.php or cmd.php manually, I have no display at all. I'm not using SElinux. I tryed to follow gandalf's file about suppressing nan, but I did find any solution. I succeed to run the data query in debug mode for ucd/net - Get Monitored Partitions (not possible for snmp), it gives me that: + Running data query [2]. + Found type = '3' [snmp query]. + Found data query XML file at '/opt/home/netadmin/src/cacti-0.8.7a/resource/snmp_queries/net-snmp_disk.xml' + XML file parsed ok. + Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.9.1.1' + No SNMP data returned + Found data query XML file at '/opt/home/netadmin/src/cacti-0.8.7a/resource/snmp_queries/net-snmp_disk.xml' + Found data query XML file at '/opt/home/netadmin/src/cacti-0.8.7a/resource/snmp_queries/net-snmp_disk.xml' + Found data query XML file at '/opt/home/netadmin/src/cacti-0.8.7a/resource/snmp_queries/net-snmp_disk.xml' which look ok, but it still tell me "This data query returned 0 rows, perhaps there was a problem executing this data query" Sorry for big mail and thanks you very much! ****************************************************************************** This message and any attachments (the "message") are confidential and intended solely for the addressee(s). If you have SNMP read access to the switches, this is doable. But it is a task to relate all switch ports to the related servers and to provide access to those graphs only, that relate to servers of each respective client. All this can be done with cacti Reinhard |

Hello, I think this should be easy if I owned the switches, but the colocation facility owns the switches. How can I make cacti graph bandwidth info for multiple servers? Here's what I want to do and explain what cacti can do. I need it to create bandwidth usage graphs where it would grab the info from SNMP from the switches managed by the colocation facility. The software would need to ONLY be installed on server #1. Each dedicated server client would have their own login to server#1 to see their own dedicated server's bandwidth usage graphs. I don't want any software installed on client servers (only on server#1). I want the software to read from the SNMP from the colocation facility's owned switches. I don't want to install SNMPd on each client server. Thank you. |

Elijah, It's a snap of a plugin to write, but more requirements would, of course, be required to complete. RRDtool, combined with Cacti, can produce excellent output for reporting when combined with a database to store short and long term statistical data. However, storage in RRDtool is the only way to go for long term interval based data. There are an abundance of howto's at http://docs.cacti.net. But in general. 1) Make sure your poller cache has entries that collect the data for the host. 2) Make sure your poller is running properly (run it manually once of twice) 3) Make sure you don't have any RRDfile permission issues TheWitness -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Hugo Rebello <hug...@dh...> > Hello Guys, > > I'm trying to replace the MRTG for Cacti. > > I didn't have any problem to do that.
