Hi All, First I would like to thank you for this great tool! Unfortunately I have some problems with my cmd poller. I am monitoring 30 hosts which are running snmp v3. snmpwalk works just perfect for every single host. Some of my hosts were timing out when polling, but snmpwalk was still fine. When using cmd.php manually I observed something strange. For example if I do cmd.php 3 3 it is fine but cmd.php 3 5 causes host 5 to time out...at the same time cmd.php 5 5 is gives me good result. I avoided this problem with setting Maximum Concurrent Poller Processes to 50 which is more than number of my hosts...in this case every single call to cmd.php polls only one host and all graphs are fine. I have found patch at http://www.cacti.net/downloads/patches/0.8.6j/snmpwalk_fix.patch It did not resolve my problems. I am using NET-SNMP version: 5.3.1 and cacti-0.8.6j Do you have any ideas or I should report a bug? -- Regards Jacek Nykis |

I was feeling a bit un-appreciated as a Developer and I thought of all the other developers of Open Source (Free) Software who relentlessly contribute to/make Open Source (free) software. I just wanted to take some time to officially say *Thank You* for all the good things which you guys/gals have made to my(/our) benefit, of which has either saved my skin or improved my work efficiency. To All of you, I say a Big Thank You for it. Let no one tell you that you are Un-appreciated for all the hard work you have poured into your relevant projects. Seriously, Thank you. |

Hi, A few days ago I sent a bug report on the mailing list about Bonsai (js graph zoom functions). I noticed another glitch: The "save" and "create" (and likely others) buttons doesn't work (The browser appears to be loading the page but nothing ever happens and the changes are not committed). Interesting note is that "cancel" do work. I noticed this behaviour in the user management page, the settings page and while trying to create new graphs. Apart from that Cacti seems to work pretty well under Opera. I can live with that (I still have Firefox sitting around) but it would be nice if someone could look into it... Thanks Thomas |

I'm trying to wrap my mind around how Nagios and Cacti "integrate" (or, more specifically, how I can pipe Nagios output to rrdtool and then have Cacti poll that rrd database). Both Nagios and Cacti are installed ok, and now I'm trying to get n2rrd properly installed and "gluing" together the two programs. I've (I think) followed all of these instructions ok http://n2rrd.diglinks.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/wiki/InstallationGuide --n2rrd is unpacked to /etc/n2rrd ok --nagios cfg files are edited properly --made a /path/to/templates/service.t file (icmp.t to be exact) --can reload nagios ok (with no errors) ...but now what? I don't see any nagios logs being generated (step 14 of the HOWTO URL), and I'm not sure where exactly these get generated (or how to tell). I'm assuming that nrd2graph doesn't have to be installed b/c that is what Cacti will properly take care of? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Considering that IE isn't following standards and that we can IMHO safely assume that unknown browsers are following web standards (and eventually hack around reported incompatibilities) I believe we should rather perform the different actions when the browser is IE. I.e. change this: if (gBrowserObj.browser == "Netscape") { RightButtonPressed = (this.event.which == 3); // alert ("Net"); } else { RightButtonPressed = (this.event.button == 2); } to this: if (gBrowserObj.browser == "IE") { RightButtonPressed = (this.event.button == 2); } else { RightButtonPressed = (this.event.which == 3); // alert ("Net"); } everywhere it applies... Thanks, Thomas |

I've tried the new utility.php. While this does seem to clear out 'some' of the ghost graphs (not all), it doesn't help at all with new graphs that I create disappearing, or them disappearing when I change data sources. I still get this error when I try to create a brand new graph: 07/24/2007 01:02:46 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: SQL Assoc Failed "select snmp_query_graph_rrd.snmp_field_name, data_template_rrd.id as data_template_rrd_id from (snmp_query_graph_rrd,data_template_rrd) where snmp_query_graph_rrd.data_template_rrd_id=data_template_rrd.local_data_template_rrd_id and snmp_query_graph_rrd.snmp_query_graph_id= and snmp_query_graph_rrd.data_template_id=50 and data_template_rrd.local_data_id=2287" This unfortunately has now gotten to the state where I'm having to recommend we take Cacti out of production unless we can fix this. Any idea at all what might be causing this and how I might go about fixing it? Thanks, Ras |

Hi list, This is something trivial but should definitely get fixed. Using Opera I must fake the user-agent as Firefox to be able to zoom on graphs. The feature works very well once I'm faking the user agent. In either case I get the Bonsai JS code so looks like the problem is in that code I believe both Firefox and Opera are following web standards, so shouldn't any random user agent return the same code as Firefox? I'd really appreciate to get the patch if it gets fixed. Thanks, Thomas |

Please repeat your question at http://forums.cacti.net to draw attention from more versed BSD guys. AFAIK, fmangeant there is a knowledgable cacti user running FreeBSD Reinhard Rogelio Bastardo wrote: > Today while trying to create a Cacti graph (something I've been able > to do with no problems on this box before), I got a "permission > denied" error on the .rrd file that I was trying to access. > > I shelled into a FreeBSD box, only to find that the > "/usr/local/share/cacti/rrd" folder was properly chmod'd and chown'd > with the Cacti user (like the instructions say). > > I'm relatively new to FreeBSD (compared to other distros) and > unfortunately cannot get any good information out of anyone about what > changed on this server. I've got it, I can create graphs as the apache user using rrdtool
directly. selinux is also disabled.

I recently moved a cacti installation from RHEL4 to RHEL5, upgraded the rrd files to work with rrdtool 1.2.x and everything seems ok except the graphs aren't showing up. If I run the debug command manually, it produces a valid graph: http://mmcgrath.fedorapeople.org/works.png <-- Generated with copying and pasting debug command in cli (works) http://mmcgrath.fedorapeople.org/broken.png <-- Generated from cacti (broken) Anyone have any ideas? -Mike |

Today while trying to create a Cacti graph (something I've been able to do with no problems on this box before), I got a "permission denied" error on the .rrd file that I was trying to access. I shelled into a FreeBSD box, only to find that the "/usr/local/share/cacti/rrd" folder was properly chmod'd and chown'd with the Cacti user (like the instructions say). I'm relatively new to FreeBSD (compared to other distros) and unfortunately cannot get any good information out of anyone about what changed on this server. (It seemed to be working a few weeks ago). Might there be some sort of BSD version of SELinux going on here? No one has any info on what "changed" on the box to make it not work. I've never had this problem on Cacti on the other distros I've worked with (mostly Debian and RHEL/CentOS) and am wondering if it is a FreeBSD oddity that I'm not understanding or if something in Cacti is misconfigured. Thanks in advance. |

Hi all! I need to create a graph to calculate the bandwidth excedent of clients. i use the template "Interface - Traffic (bytes/sec, Total Bandwidth" DEF:a="/usr/share/cacti/site/rra/e1s08a14_traffic_in_552.rrd":traffic_in:AVERAGE \ DEF:b="/usr/share/cacti/site/rra/e1s08a14_traffic_in_552.rrd":traffic_out:AVERAGE \ CDEF:cdefi=TIME,1184686172,GT,a,a,UN,0,a,IF,IF,TIME,1184686172,GT,a,a,UN,0,a,IF,IF,+ \ AREA:a#00CF00:"Inbound" \ GPRINT:a:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" \ GPRINT:a:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" \ GPRINT:a:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s" \ LINE1:a#002A97:"Outbound" \ GPRINT:b:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" \ GPRINT:a:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" \ GPRINT:b:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s" \ COMMENT:"Total In\: 960.13 KB" \ COMMENT:"Total Out\: 960.13 KB" \ COMMENT:"Total\: 1.92 MB" For this last operation i use "Total: |sum:auto:total:2:auto|" like a comment, and it shows me 1.92 for exemple. Now, i like to use this number to calculate with an cdef function the excedent If client have 1MB contracted they should will appear other line with 92kb of excedent. If everyone knows a manual more complet than cacti.net say me where i can get it plz. Thank you very much! im noob with this program. :) |

Shortly after I sent this email out, I figured out it. Now I'm on to upgrading PHP 4 to PHP 5 on CentOS, which I understand gives me better Cacti features. |
