I have three data points (call them A, B, and C) of which I would like to make a graph with two lines. The values are numerical, but I want to graph percentages. The line graphs would be the following values: 1. A/(A+B+C) 2. B/(A+B+C) The problem is that the first two values are so small they barely show up, so I really don't want to graph the C percentage [C/(A+B+C)] so that the remaining two values can scale properly, but it's my understanding that it still needs to be part of the template. When I change the C variable to Graph Item Type to Comment or GPRINT the graphs don't generate properly. Any ideas how I can accomplish what I'm looking to do? See http://www.mtcnet.net/~fbulk/graph.bmp and http://www.mtcnet.net/~fbulk/graph_template.bmp to see the graph and template settings. Regards, Frank |

Hello, I am using cacti 0.6h with the thold module. The problem I am facing is with the threshold values that I have setup in thold. I found that graphs for resources like hard disk space show "bytes" on the Y axis, but if I convert the value in GB it doesnt match with the actual value on the server. I am taking the "current" value shown in the threshold section. If I convert the value assuming it to be in KB then I get the correct value in GB. The above happens for Linux hosts. The same setup works fine for Unix based hosts. The value in threshold section is actually in bytes. Is this something wrong in the way I have setup snmp ? -Axl |

I have installed Cacti and I added some graphs to the Tree View however I am just seeing a box with a question mark and it doesn't populate any graphs. However If I go under Graph Management and click on a Graph i am able to see some graphs! I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong it use to show but no longer does. Any help would be appreciated. I am running the latest Cacti and using PHP 4.3.9 from RHEL 4.4. I think the only way to do this is to do an rrdtool dump of the original rrd file and then restore it to the new file once it gets created. I dont have exact instructions but you can find them on http://forums.cacti.net/ On 8/31/06, Sin Jozsef <si...@ma...> wrote: > Hi, > > > Is there a good solution to merge two (old and new) rrd file to a new > one? > > To understand my problem. > If one of my customer is moving to another router and also to a > different interface I must recreate the graph on the new device to see > its traffic. > I`d like to see the old in/out traffic values in the new graph. > > > Thx: Sini > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Using Tomcat but need to do more? Hi, Is there a good solution to merge two (old and new) rrd file to a new one? To understand my problem. If one of my customer is moving to another router and also to a different interface I must recreate the graph on the new device to see its traffic. I`d like to see the old in/out traffic values in the new graph. Thx: Sini |

FreeNAC provides easy to use VLAN assignment and LAN access control for = Cisco Switches and all kind of network devices (Servers, Workstations, = Printers, IP-Phones, Webcams...). FreeNAC can be considered as having two phases. Initially, we have taken OpenVMPS (which provides MAC based access = control), added a MySQL back end, a GUI, improved access control = algorithms, scalability, redundancy, alerting etc. This tool has been = published as OpenSource on FreeNAC.net. Next, we are testing 802.1x support by tying in FreeRadius (802.1x = provides better security and is not limited to Cisco switches) and = moving the Delphi GUI to a web based user interface. The 'plan' is for the project to move forward to eventually become THE = OpenSource Enterprise tool for dynamic VLAN assignment and LAN/WLAN = authentication. So, we wish to solicite community opinions, expertise, help and = feedback. Are you interested in this tool, would you like to use it or = even like to contribute to it (documentation, support, development, = promotion, architecture, review...)? Hi, Use the command "rrdtool dump file.rdd > file.xml" and convert the data in xml file as you wish. OR Use the rrdtool fetch command. For instance to get the last 1 hour data in/out values try this: "rrdtool fetch file.rrd AVERAGE -r 900 -s -1h" (1st column is timestamp) -Sini On 08/29/2006 09:42:31 PM, M.C. wrote: > There is a command that extract the data in the rrd files and give it > as an > output(this command is included in rrdtool, I can not remember wich). > But > check rrdtool in order to understand it, is interesting. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Theologo Spiro" <The...@se...> > To: "Support requests/questions about cacti" > <cac...@li...> > Sent: Tuesday, August 29, 2006 7:50 AM > Subject: Re: [cacti-user] DB table help > > > > > > HI, > > > > Thanks, I will check this out. Here's what I've got. 1. Ubuntu Dapper ( server ) 2. Cacti-0.8.6 3. PHP5 On a test server I tried to install the Ubuntu package with apt-get install cacti. It installed a bunch of stuff and configured MySQL. When I accessed the website all I got was Warning messages. I decided to download and install the tar file on our production server. After installing and configuring Cacti I tried to access the website. I got the same thing. Warning messages of all shapes and sizes. What's going on here? |

Hi, We're supporting Cacti on a number of projects, some of them with 1000's of interfaces to collect data from. We have a hacked up, sort of working, likely ugly, shell script for automated configuration based on discovery results. We can get hosts created with one metric. It basically does: mysqladmin drop cacti mysqladmin create cacti mysql cacti < cacti.sql (run through the web interface initialization steps - what you might do is do that then take a sqldump and replay IT to get your baseline) ./create_hosts.sh <x> > hosts.sql (where x is the number of hosts to add with one graph each (Cisco CPU via SNMP)) mysql cacti < hosts.sql Is there a good / approved way to do programmatic configuration of Cacti? We're happy to contribute what we did. What course should we take if there is a better one? Thanks in advance for any comments and / or help, Regards, - Harper Harper Mann Groundwork Open Source 510-599-2075 (cell) |

Is there a way to re-poll a device for new interfaces?=20 IE> I have a Cisco Cat 6509 and I'm constantly adding SVI, and PVC's and I would like to just re-poll the 6509 rather then deleting it and recreating everything. TIA Scott=20 |

Hi, Probably you are getting an error in the SNMP query result. When you have data and no graph this seems to be the reason always. The data of snmp querys is save in rrd files. Check in the web waht rrd-tool is and learn about it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Theologo Spiro" <The...@se...> To: <cac...@li...> Sent: Monday, August 28, 2006 10:14 AM Subject: [cacti-user] DB table help > > Hi, > > I am new to the Cacti world. As far as Nagios goes, I am migrating to Fruity (http://fruity.sf.net) for management. Requires Nagios 2.X. It is in RC1 the last time I checked and is very powerful. Once you set up templates, you can add Hosts with Services in about 4 clicks and typing in a hostname.
