The way we did it was to capture netflow data with flow-scan/flow-capture, then use the netflow collector to output an rdd file, then we created mirrored graphs inside cacti to visualize input/output. Honesly, you may be better off with something like NFsen ( http://nfsen.sourceforge.net/#mozTocId301830). NFsen can help automatically break out the protocols, etc Best Regards Scott 2011/6/27 Usuário do Sistema <mai...@ig...> > Hello everyone, sometimes people comes question me if I know some tool > wich shows the ip address and/or protocol of larger bandwidth > consumption in one device. > > for exemplo, I wish know what is the protocol ( level 7 ; http, smtp, > pop etc) of larger bandwidth consumption on my MPLS router. ip > address too. > > with cacti it's possible ?? > > Thank! > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable. > Why? Hello everyone, sometimes people comes question me if I know some tool wich shows the ip address and/or protocol of larger bandwidth consumption in one device. for exemplo, I wish know what is the protocol ( level 7 ; http, smtp, pop etc) of larger bandwidth consumption on my MPLS router. ip address too. with cacti it's possible ?? Thank! |

Cacti will use SNMP. So if you have an "snmpwalk" example output, that shows both interfaces, then this is doable. Dear All, This is my first post; so I hope you all bear with me for my little experience with Cacti. I have set up Cacti with the option: Console -> Configuration->Settings->Authentication=none, which means we can access Cacti page without authentication. When I browsed each graph, the URL would look something like: http://localhost/cacti/graph.php?action=view&local_graph_id=145&rra_id=all Is there a way that Cacti can access the graph based on the hostname and the interface IP? I'd like to create custom PHP script to access each graph by a hostname and IP address? Appreciate for any ideas. Thanks & regards, Khem |

Hi, an update, I've disabled MySQL replication, I've also blocked access to the live server's DB via tcp_wrappers just in case there was any possibility it was looking in the wrong DB. The result is, I still have an intermittent problem. Ie looking at the poller_time: select * from cacti.poller_time: +----+-----+-----------+---------------------+---------------------+ | id | pid | poller_id | start_time | end_time | +----+-----+-----------+---------------------+---------------------+ | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2011-06-06 17:10:33 | 2011-06-06 17:10:33 | | 2 | 0 | 0 | 2011-06-06 17:10:43 | 2011-06-06 17:10:43 | +----+-----+-----------+---------------------+---------------------+ Looking at the system time: # date Mon Jun 6 17:16:07 BST 2011 Trying to run the poller: # su - cacti -c "/usr/local/bin/php /usr/home/cacti/poller.php" 06/06/2011 05:16:09 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] NOTE: Poller Int: '300', Cron Int: '300', Time Since Last: '69', Max Runtime '298', Poller Runs: '1' 06/06/2011 05:16:09 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] NOTE: Cron is configured to run too often! The Poller Interval is '300' seconds, with a minimum Cron period of '300' seconds, but only 69 seconds have passed since the poller last ran. So, really weird!! Anyone with any ideas or anything else I can test please let me know, thanks Andy. |

Hi, can anyone help me out here, the poller randomly won't run, all my graphs have more holes in them than data. Here is an example of the problem, I check the data in the poller_time table, then check the system time, then try and run the poller and it tells me only 61 seconds have passed when more than 300 have passed. What's it doing?? mysql> select * from cacti.poller_time; +----+-----+-----------+---------------------+---------------------+ | id | pid | poller_id | start_time | end_time | +----+-----+-----------+---------------------+---------------------+ | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2011-06-03 17:40:34 | 2011-06-03 17:40:34 | | 2 | 0 | 0 | 2011-06-03 17:40:39 | 2011-06-03 17:40:39 | +----+-----+-----------+---------------------+---------------------+ 2 rows in set (0.00 sec) mysql> exit Bye # date Fri Jun 3 17:45:52 BST 2011 # su - cacti -c "/usr/local/bin/php /usr/home/cacti/poller.php" 06/03/2011 05:46:01 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] NOTE: Poller Int: '300', Cron Int: '300', Time Since Last: '61', Max Runtime '298', Poller Runs: '1' 06/03/2011 05:46:01 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] NOTE: Cron is configured to run too often! The Poller Interval is '300' seconds, with a minimum Cron period of '300' seconds, but only 61 seconds have passed since the poller last ran. One thing that possibly could cause a problem is that I am running dual cacti pollers, that is this is my secondary cacti server which is a replica (config wise) of my primary server. That basically means that the MySQL database is replicated to this server but certain tables, like poller_time, are excluded from the replication. However this configuration has previously working for months, It is now broken and this doesn't coincide with any configuration changes made to either server. Any help much appreciated!! thanks Andy. |

Just attempt to login to Cacti, it will prompt you to upgrade the database. Hello Group, I read http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/html/upgrade.html - my situation is that I need to migrate from 0.8.7b to 0.8.7g. First one runs on Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) and the second on Natty (11.04). And, both are separate machines (obviously). (I understand I have to import the cacti table onto new environment as well as copy over the cacti/rra/* ) Is there something else to be done after the upgrade procedure is followed ? The Natty installation is already running with some test data sources, but I don't really care about the data it has now, i want full substitution - the old banger will be taken down eventually. Will accept all kinds of pointers, even google keywords ;) Thanks&Regards, Lukasz |
