Hi there. I'not shure if this is the place to write, but.... I'm wondering if the "ALL-IN-WONDER x600 PRO" card is supported by GATOS. I'm not shure, I'm guessing "no".... Could somebody tell me please? thanx Felipe _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Hello all, I'm brand new to this list. If it's the wrong place to ask, please let me k= now. I'd like to receive input from the ATI remote from an application that's started via a remote shell (sometimes a local shell) on a Linux box. The ATI remote is plugged into the Linux box. The Linux machine isn't necessarily running X. How could I accomplish this? Could I try to make my application read from a certain device? Best regards, Roman -- |

I have an AIW Radeon 7500 that I *know* used to work well under Xorg 6.8.2. I just upgraded the system to FC5 and the modular X server (having complete rm -rf the old /usr/X11R6 directories) and now, when I try to start the system, I get the following error in the Xorg.log file: (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/multimedia/theatre_detect_drv.so (II) Module theatre_detect: vendor="X.Org Foundation" compiled for 4.3.99.902, module version = 1.0.0 ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.8 (II) RADEON(0): No response from device 0 on VIP bus (II) RADEON(0): Device 1 on VIP bus ids as 0x4d541002 (II) RADEON(0): No response from device 2 on VIP bus (II) RADEON(0): No response from device 3 on VIP bus (II) RADEON(0): Detected Rage Theatre as device 1 on VIP bus with id 0x4d541002 (II) RADEON(0): Detected Rage Theatre revision 00000003 (II) RADEON(0): video decoder type is 0x4650 (BIOS value) versus 0x4650 (current PLL setting) (II) RADEON(0): Tuner is on port 0 (II) RADEON(0): Composite connector is port 2 (II) RADEON(0): SVideo connector is port 6 (II) RADEON(0): Rage Theatre: Connectors (detected): tuner=0, composite=2, svideo=6 (II) RADEON(0): RageTheatre: Connectors (using): tuner=0, composite=0, svideo=0 (II) RADEON(0): Unsupported reference clock frequency, Rage Theatre disabled So I get no video in. Also, I cannot get the video out to work - I can get video out in text mode, but I cannot get the video out to reprogram when I go into X, so all I get is garbage on the TV. |

Hello. I have this problem installing the driver. First, i do what README says Instructions for users - Install XFree86 4.4.0 or X.org 6.7.0 - Backup your /usr/X11R6/ directory, or at least /usr/X11R6/lib/modules - Unpack the tarball into /usr, so that the driver files end up in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/{dri,drivers,multimedia} - Start X from command line X>&x.log Wait for the picture to appear and press Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to exit Xserver. Examine x.log for messages about Xv driver initialization and what hardware it detected on your system. After doing that, i reboot and my X gets crashed, so i need to reinstall Ubuntu. So please teach me how to get it to work. My card is a All-in-Wonder Radeon 7500 (RV200) so it is supported. _________________________________________________________________ T1msn. Hi! Before I am going to install gatos driver, I want to know if my card and my system configuration is supported: Radeon All in Wonder 9600 AMD Athlon 3000+ Xorg 6.8.2 Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger" (based on debian) Do you need more information to say me, if gatos should work? Does anyone have success in installing the drivers with this hard- and software? Thank you! regards, Christian Kloimüllner. |

Is :pserver:ano...@cv...:/cvsroot/gatos the right CVS repository, or isn't it? Because when I check out the ati.2 module from that repo, on either the tv_output branch or the trunk, there is *no* mention of the PCI_CHIP_RV280_5961 as a supported chip, or any support for the RV280 family at all, with the result that trying to load an unmodified radeon_drv.o from this repo gives me the standard no-devices-for-driver error. In contrast, the standard radeon driver from Debian's XFree86 4.3.0 package loads just fine. So if this is not the right source repo, you may want to have someone fix the "installing from CVS" instructions. > >So I've patched my way around that little issue, and also prodded the=20 > >driver > >a bit to get it to accept only being connected to the S-video output (no > >CRT), but now have run into a problem that has me stumped. That's fine if you think so, but before I made the changes to the driver, it failed even *earlier*, bombing out saying that no monitor was detected. So maybe this is all the same brokenness; for that matter, maybe it's all fallout from the driver not knowing how to handle the 9200, and poor guesses on my part wrt which other cards the RV280 series is most like. > Try the patch for Xorg and see how it works out. If this doesn't work=20 > please send me the config file and the complete log file. Well, after patiently waiting for a full xorg compile (God, it'll be nice when the modular tree is released!), I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything loaded up perfectly on the TV the first time -- just set the TVOutput standard, set the res to 800x600, and off we go! One problem I'm seeing, though, is that the X server doesn't always come back up cleanly after being stopped. Is this a known problem with the theater_out driver? I'm happy to do whatever's necessary to debug this, if someone has some pointers on where to start. --=20 Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. vo...@de... http://www.debian.org/ |

Hi folks,
Well, I have to say that so far the gatos tv_output CVS branch has been a
disappointment for me. I went ahead and picked up an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI
based on the website's declarations that TV out support had been tested
on the 9200SE, only to find that there was no code at all in the CVS
repository for handling any cards in this class!
So I've patched my way around that little issue, and also prodded the driver
a bit to get it to accept only being connected to the S-video output (no
CRT), but now have run into a problem that has me stumped. This is what I
get when trying to start the X server, using XFree86 4.3.0:
[...]

[...]
I can see from the code how it gets there, but I don't know what ought to be
happening instead. Is what I'm trying to do just not supported, or is it
only supported in some branch of code not found in the CVS repo? Perhaps
I'm wasting my time trying to get this to work with xfree86, and should be
looking at the patches against xorg instead?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
