Hi, trying to make the km working with my card I fixed some problems in KM, see patch attached. It makes use of copy_to/from_user kernel functions when using the proc_fs. The patch also adds the PCI ID for my card. Regards, Bogdan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hello, there is a known problem with the gcc34 that deletes the unused symbols from libraries in spite of its optimisation. Also the newest ffmeped sources do not match with the avview. The solution I used was to retrieve ffmpeg-0.4.8 together with a patch for gcc34. You'll find a patch that works in: http://be.lunar-linux.org/lunar/patches/ffmpeg-0.4.8-gcc34.patch.bz2 Regards, Bogdan --- persall88 <per...@sb...> wrote: > > As was suggested, I installed the libxv-dev package. > > Then I changed the include file back to Xvlib.h, > redid Avview configure, and > then tried make (Avview). Well, actually, I have the exact same problem! I have: Radeon AIW 9000 Pro Kernel 2.6.15 Xorg 7.1 Direct Rendering is working The microcode seems to be loaded correctly (same as your xorg.log). However, the tv-in is still not working. If i find a solution, I'll let you know -- but i'm working time to time on this problem for 3 months without any success. Any suggestions folks? As I mentioned previously, I had started trying to use the new ffmpeg which I downloaded from the ffmpeg website using svn, numbered version 5591. I had problems compiling that, so I thought if I switched back to ffmpeg-0.4.8, it would compile no problems and I could do on to the next thing. However, now I have had problems compiling ffmpeg-0.4.8. In that case, should I just go ahead and try to solve the (compile) problems with the new ffmpeg? It seems to me that if I could get that working, it might be an improvement over the old ffmpeg. What would you do, if you were me? - per...@sb... ----- Original Message ----- From: <gat...@li...> To: <gat...@li...> Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2006 12:07 PM Subject: Gatos-devel Digest, Vol 2, Issue 6 > Send Gatos-devel mailing list submissions to > gat...@li... > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gatos-devel > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > gat...@li... > > You can reach the person managing the list at > gat...@li... > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Gatos-devel digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. As was suggested, I installed the libxv-dev package.
Then I changed the include file back to Xvlib.h, redid Avview configure, and
then tried make (Avview). This time there was a compile problem that looked
like it had to do with ffmpeg. I was trying to use the new ffmpeg rev5591
from svn.
So I decided to revert back to the trusty old ffmpeg-0.4.8.
For this I installed gcc-3.4. I changed the cc def in the ffmpeg configure
to "cc=/usr/bin/gcc-3.4". Then I did configure, and started make.
It was going along pretty well, and I thought I was in the clear,
but then suddenly there were a bunch of compile errors and the make exited.
The tail of those errors is here:

At first I was getting this error:
xv.c:24:34: error: X11/extensions/Xvlib.h: No such file or directory
Then I noticed that on this system there really is no such file.
But there is a file X11/extensions/Xvproto.h. So I changed the include
in Avview xv.c to include Xvproto.h. But I still get a bunch of errors,
starting out like this:
xv.c: In function =E2=80=98xv_numadaptors=E2=80=99:

This denotes that avview can't capture from your webcam, but that's just capture. Viewing TV should be possible even if no capture devices are found. Besides, the next line probably means that it did find the km device: > Current picture parameters: depth=16 palette=7 > Can You help me or someone ? This is a problem you need to fix - Rage Theatre 200 requires a microcode
file which can be found someplace on driver CD.

Versions prior to 4.0 (?) do compile it OK. 2) Fix ffmpeg-0.4.8. <http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2005-02/msg00067.html> gives a possible workaround. 3) Port Avview to use current ffmpeg (which hopefully has fixed the issue). I took some advice from the gatos-devel mailing list, and upgraded my Debian 3.1 Sarge to the new Debian Testing version called Etch (this uses kernel 2.6.15-1-486), and proceeded to try to get the Gatos packages to work on this ATI Radeon 9600. I finally got stuck on the compile of km. Here is what I did, up to this point. Perhaps someone could help me figure out what to do next. I downloaded and installed linux-kernel-headers-2.6.15-1-486 and linux-source-2.6.15, also Debian pkgs. Then I downloaded and installed ATI.4.4.0: X.org 6.7.0 driver from Gatos. Then I tried compiling km-0.6.1. I got this error: /usr/src/km/km.c:1026: error: =E2=80=98PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_RADEON_LE=E2=80= =99 undeclared here (not in a function) /usr/src/km/km.c:1028: error: =E2=80=98PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_RADEON_LF=E2=80= =99 undeclared here (not in a function) So then I looked up the following info from various spots in the=20 Xorg.0.logfile ATI Radeon 9600 AP (AGP), (II) Primary Device is: PCI 01:00:0 (II) ATI: Candidate "Device" section "ATI Technologies, Inc. RV350 AP [Radeon 9600]". (WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) fo= und (--) Chipset ATI Radeon 9600 AP (AGP) found (--) RADEON(0): Chipset: "ATI Radeon 9600 AP (AGP)" (ChipID =3D 0x4150) (II) RADEON(0): Detected Rage Theatre as device 1 on VIP bus with id=20 0x4d4a1002 (II) RADEON(0): Detected Rage Theatre revision 00000001 (II) RADEON(0): Microcode: Use default microcode type: BINARY (EE) RADEON(0): Microcode: cannot load microcode (II) RADEON(0): Rage Theatre disabled (II) PCI: 01:00:0: chip 1002,4150 card 1002,4722 rev 00 class 03,00,00 hd= r=20 80 (II) PCI: 01:00:1: chip 1002,4170 card 1002,4723 rev 00 class 03,80,00 hd= r=20 00 Then I edited km.c and modified the defines and the table static struct pci_device_id km_pci_tbl []. I added the following 2 defines to the list: =20 #ifndef PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_RADEON_AP #define PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_RADEON_AP 0x4150 #endif #ifndef PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_RADEON_AP2 #define PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_RADEON_AP2 0x4170 #endif And I removed most of the entries from the struct, adding the following 2 for my ATI Radeon 9600: {PCI_VENDOR_ID_ATI, PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_RADEON_AP, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, HARDWARE_RADEON}, {PCI_VENDOR_ID_ATI, PCI_DEVICE_ID_ATI_RADEON_AP2, PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, 0, 0, HARDWARE_RADEON}, Then I was able to compile km. Then it was time to compile ffmpeg-0.4.8. However now I got an error that I don't know how to fix. Compile error: In file included from avcodec.h:14, from common.c:27: common.h:66: error: array type has incomplete element type common.h:70: error: array type has incomplete element type make[1]: *** [common.o] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/ffmpeg-0.4.8/libavcodec' In ffmpeg subdir libavcodec file common.h lines 64-70 are the following: struct AVOption; #ifdef HAVE_MMX extern const struct AVOption avoptions_common[3 + 5]; #else extern const struct AVOption avoptions_common[3]; #endif extern const struct AVOption avoptions_workaround_bug[11]; Can I fix this somehow? Add some other "workaround"? Perhaps I need a newer ffmpeg, but it has to have the source code. At the ffmpeg website, you need something called "svn" which I don't know what it is, and even if I did, I don't know if it's going to work with Avview or not. Can anyone help me get past this block? =2D per...@sb... |

I don't get any TV at all with this card. Which version of the ATI programs are you trying (ATI-??, km-??, Avview-??). Vladimir: Where is the list of PC IDs that I need to modify. Would it help to add a BusID line to my XF86Config-4 file for the Device section, or possibly adding a VideoAdapter section with the BusID of the Secondary adapter on this card? I did "man XF86Config-4" and for the VideoAdapter section it just said "Nobody seems to know about this" or something to that effect. Thanks. One of these days we'll get this card to work, I'm sure of it! - per...@sb... |
