Thanks for clearing that up. I'm curious though it was mentioned earlier that we should find the file ativmc20.cod and extract something from it. What I'm unclear about is what is suppose to happen to the file and how it fits in the scheme of things as far as Gatos goes. I tried in vain earlier to install the Gatos drivers via the instructions but it didn't work out. Perhaps it was because I had the ATI proprietary drivers installed and that gummed things up. But I really don't know. I'll try again to install the GATOS drivers, that is, if you think they will work for the AIW 9800 Pro so I can do the TV in thing. If not I'll leave well enough alone and for now and wait until Xorg 7 (Hopefully it will then support the video card I have). Oh, I tried the ones for Xorg and those were 4.x.x. But my guess is the reason it didn't work was because I didn't tell the config file to use the appropriate driver. If you suggest to try GATOs then what driver name should I stick in the config file, radeon? Thanks. ~Kris |

I was not precise enough - the chip you are mentioning is the GPU, but
Rage Theatre 200 is a video decoder.

The file after installing windows is called ativmc20.cod . Chances are
there is a file on CD with the same name but different extension - this
would be a compressed version, you should be able to extract it using
cabextract tool (I might be off, please correct me :) )

I found some old messages (2002) about using ffmpeg with km. Does this still work, and if so, what ffmpeg parameters would be required? I've been trying, but all I can get is ffmpeg stalls for a while, and if I press q it eventually exists and prints out a status message indicating that nothing happened. Thanks. |

Hi all, I am having problems watching TV (PAL) with my 9800SE AIW (on amd64). The initialization seems to work fine (see below), but I am not getting a usable picture with AVview. The only thing that appears on the screen are dark shadows (which I can turn bright but they remain just shadows) of a TV picture. And the picture seems shifted. Did anyone experience similar problems? Can anyone help me? As I understand it, The GATOS project doesn't provide enough of the V4L API to use the All in wonder Series for use as a PVR (MythTV). Is this entirely true? If so, are there plans to implement the spec fully? If not, what are the hurdles? Thanks, Jason |

Suse 9.3 on dual p3 700 and ati all-in-wonder radeon 7200 (32MB)
OK, I've gotten the 2005-09-08 CVS avview source I downloaded to compile.
My first problem ( missing libzvbi.h) was solved by installing the zvbi-devel
package from the suse site. I did a make without enabling recording (without
the ffmpeg) and it seemed to be successful.
When I ran ./start_avview.no_install I got
NUM_ADAPTORS=1
Adaptor 0: ATI Radeon Video Overlay
type input image
ports 69
69 ATI Radeon Video Overlay
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 140 (XVideo)
Minor opcode of failed request: 14 ()
Serial number of failed request: 1375
Current serial number in output stream: 1375
any suggestions?

Once again I've spent numerous hours trying to get this tv tuner working. Numerous attempts to compile a working avview\ffmpeg have all failed. It seems to me that I'm probably running into a conflict between my newer compiler and libs and the source packages on dated 2004-12-17 05:23. Can someone point me to the location of a more recent package? |

If you are useing xorg-6.8.2 then tv-input should because support is alread= y=20 integrated, but try to use avview as tv viewer because with other tv viewer= s=20 I'm not sure will work.. I'm running suse 9.3 and using xorg-x11 6.8.2-30 on a computer with an all-in-wonder radeon (7200) agp video card. I've spent most of the night googling trying to figure out if it's possible to get the tv tuner and other multimedia functions working on my video card. Is it possible to implement the ati functionality using the current xorg build and if so how? None of the ati.2 related packages indicate compatibility with the current xorg build. thank you |
