Blackbird Designs - Strawberry Fields Forever -

 I have a finish

Designer:  Blackbird Designs
Design:  Strawberry Fields Forever
Fabric:  BeStitchMe 16CT Sandstone
Floss:  Mostly called for but I did make some substitutions since GAST is very hard to get right now.
1st Stitch:  10/03/2021 - Last Stitch:  11/30/2021
For:  Me
Thread substitutions:  GAST Country Redwood I used the DMC conversion 221, GAST Old Brick I used Classic Colorworks Licorice Red, GAST Garden Gate I used DMC 844
I like how it turned out but not enough to send it to Rensel Studio to have it framed.  I just don't want to spend that kind on money on something that I don't love, love, love.  Maybe part of the problem is that I know there are several mistakes in the strawberry vine.

BBD Strawberry Fields Forever Week 8

I bet you are tired of seeing this project every week.  Well next week may be the last time as I think I will have it finished by the end of the weekend.  I only have the remaining boarder to do.  Up the right side and a little bit on the top.  Mistakes in the vine abound but I don't think anyone but me will know.  I have been thinking of sending this to Jill Rensel Studios to have it framed but I'm not sure I like it enough to spend that kind of money getting it framed.  I think the part that I don't like is the urn on the left side of the house.  It is just to big in proportion to the house.  I wish someone actually read this blog so they could tell me what they think.

Started my Christmas decorating today.  I decorated the downstairs bathroom after a thorough cleaning.  I also started cleaning the dining room and decorated the dining room table.  If I haven't told you in the past, I Love Christmas.  I do love Christmas but I also want to get the house decorated before December 8th when Susan comes for a few days.  My plan is to finish cleaning the dining room and the living room tomorrow and then the Family room on Wednesday.  I will start decorating upstairs on Thursday and then do the family room on Monday.  I also have to give the guest room a lick and a promise before Sue comes and take the quilt off the bed.

I am going to sit down and do a little gift wrapping before I spend some time stitching on Merry Christmas a freebie from Hello from Liz Matthews.

An FFO

Designer:  My Easy Stitch - Design:  I Love Disney - For:  CJ
Not quite straight but the best Bob and I could do.
I hope she likes this.
I will wrap it tomorrow and give it to her on Thanksgiving as
I would like to see her face when she opens it.

BBD - Strawberry Fields Forever - Week 7

It's not perfect but I don't think anyone but I don't think anyone will know where the mistakes are.

BBD Strawberry Fields Forever

I've been working in this for 6 weeks now.  This past week has been frustrating.  I have a mistake.  Well I had several mistakes.  I fixed one big one and now I have a little one that I know where it ends but I can't figure out where it begins.  It's tiny and I know I can fudge it but I don't want to.  I will just keep going and count off of where I know it is correct and see what happens.

I'm also stitching on a Christmas ornament which should be finished in a day or two.  I picked the wrong fabric to stitch this on as there is lots of white and it just doesn't pop off the fabric.  It will be OK but I wish I had picked a darker fabric.

Today Bob is going out to lunch with some old high school friends.  I wasn't invited.

I am in the process of FFOing 2 more smalls and hope to have them finished today.  Then I am putting my sewing machine away and hope it doesn't have to come out again until after the holidays.  It has been nice the last 2 days with Bob working outside to get the back porch and patio winterized.  I have had the office all to myself and can sew to my hearts content.

Blackbird Designs - Strawberry Fields Forever

Four weeks of progress on this project.

Week 1
Week 2
Week 3
Week 4

Stitched on 16CT Sandstone by BeStitchMe (this fabric is a dream to stitch on)  using a combination of DMC, GAST and WDW.  I had to make some changes because several of the GAST threads have been unavailable for several months and I wanted to start this project so bad.  I am hoping to send it to Rensel Studios for framing once it is finished.  Well that is if it looks OK with the changes I made.

FFOs

Notes:  Front and back or ornament.  This is the 2nd ornament I stitched for her.  The first one I only used Anna as the name but they are insistent that she be called Anna-Kathryn.  Also the 1st ornament I took to Ronnie for finishing and haven't gotten it back yet.  I took it in late June.  I plan on giving both ornaments to Kayla if I get it back before I send them off to her.

Another ornament finish

I finished the stitching on another ornament yesterday.  My plans are to stitch ornaments in he afternoons, not necessarily a Christmas ornament, but something small.  I also plan to stitch one Christmas ornament each month.

Designer:  Country Cottage Needleworks - Design:  Merry Merry

Fabric:  18CT Parchment Aida - Floss:  DMC

1st Stitch:  10/4/2021 - Last Stitch:  10/16/2021

For:  Christmas present for Greats for 2022

Wednesday, September 22, 2021

I finished the stitching on another Christmas ornament for 2022

Yes I am actually stitching ornaments for 2022 and I have 3 stitched.

Designer:  Little House of Needleworks
Design:  Tree Farm
Fabric:  Colour & Cotton 16CT Corn Husk
Floss:  DMC
1st Stitch:  08/31/2021 - Last Stitch:  09/09/2021
For:  Christmas present in 2022

I am now stitching another ornament for Anna-Kathryn.  I asked some friends about only putting Anna on the first ornament and they all said that since Kayla is so adamant about calling her Anna-Kathryn I should make an ornament with that name.  I have stitched a different ornament and will stitch a name tag and put it on the back.  I will give them the original ornament I stitched as they are both different and just explain.  I have no reason to keep an ornament with Anna's First Christmas 2021.

Off to get Bob up and start this rainy day with a little breakfast.

Happy Stitching everyone.

Happy July 4th

I hope everyone has a happy and safe July 4th.

With the voter suppression bills that are being passed in so many states across the country and our leaders in Washington. ie Republicans for the most part, not even admitting that there was an Insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th I personally don't think we have a lot to celebrate.  We are headed into a Nazi run country not the democratic country I have known for the last 74 years.

We had Shirley and CJ over for dinner last night.  Our dinner was grilled lamb chops, potato salad from Erin, green bean salad and blueberry buckle with vanilla ice cream.  It was good to see them and to be able to hug and kiss them.  My husband behaved and didn't mention politics oned.

It is time for me to go get dh up and then make some baked beans and mix up my hamburgers for dinner today.

Finished the stitching on some smalls

Designer: Hello From Liz Matthews
Design:  Hope - freebie on her web site
Fabric:  16CT mystery from my scrap bag
Floss:  Six Strand Sweets - Strawberry Jam
1st Stitch:  04/24/2021  -  Last Stitch:  06/02/2021
For:  Me

Designer:  JBW Designs
Design:  Baby's First Christmas - Stocking
Fabric:  16CT Aida from my scrap bag
Floss:  Called for DMC
1st Stitch:  06/11/2021  -  Last Stitch:  06/13/2021
For:  Anna Walker
Notes:  I changed the Font as I wanted to stitch the baby's name rather than Baby's.  I wish designers would think ahead and give the whole alphabet when doing these designs.  I can't be the only one who would want to put the baby's name rather than just Baby.
By the way baby Anna is due around the 24th of August.
I will Be taking this to Ronnie at the Magic Party Store tomorrow to be made into an ornament.

Pretty Little Paris by Satsuma Street

I finished the stitching on this last night.  I am so glad to have this finished as all I seemed to do is frog, frog, frog.  I think it was the fabric with the little black specks and I had a lot of trouble seeing the holes.

Designer:  Satsuma Street - Design - Pretty Little Paris

Fabric:  18CT Fiddlers Cloth - Floss:  called for DMC

1st Stitch:  04/24/2021 - Last Stitch:  05/31/2021

Pretty Little Paris by Satsuma Street - Week 4

More progress on Pretty Little Paris by Satsuma Street.  I have to admit it is a struggle to stitch all the white in this project.  I stitch mostly at night and I just can't seem to see the white stitched at times.

This week I finished Notre Dame and the hot air balloon.  I was also stitching on a small freebie from Hello From Liz Matthews called Hope but I didn't get a lot done.

Some pretties from our yard

I love Spring and all the pretty flowers that come out.  If I had to choose one season to live in all year it would be Spring.  Bob planted much of his garden yesterday except for a few things.  Now on to the trugs which hold our eggplant and then all the pots and the marigold strip.  I have to get out and weed the strip where he plants the marigolds.  I figure that is the least I can do for him.  I'm not a gardener but I can weed.

Pretty Little Paris by Satsuma Street - Week 3

Here is my progress on Pretty Little Paris.  I had lots of frogging this week so not a lot of progress.

This project so so much brighter in person than in any picture I take.  I really wish it looked like the picture.  I got mad at this after I frogged most of the orange border on the bottom so I started April Flip-It by Lizzie Kate.  Didn't get much done but I did get a start.  I really don't like having more than one project going at any one time.

Pretty Little Paris by Satsuma Street - Week 2

I've made some good progress on this.  I have about 10 or so stitched and the Eiffel Tower will be finished.  I would have done them last night but it is hard for me to stitch white at night.  Then I will continue to work on Notre Dame.  I should soon be at the halfway mark.  In person the colors look so much brighter.  I like the picture better than the real thing.

I wish I could understand why Santa is holding a Sunflower.  My husband said he

is celebrating Christmas in July.  Maybe.

I plan on seeing of the woman at the Party Shop in Limerick is still doing finishing.  If she is I will

take this to her for finishing.  It isn't that I don't love the way Vonna and Faye Riggsbee  finish

my stitching, I just think that I will support a local finisher.

Prairie Schooler - 2020 Yearly Santa

I just received this back from the framer yesterday.  I sent it to Faye Riggsbee, The Carolina Stitcher.  She did an amazing job and always makes my stitching look so good.

I-m currently stitching the 1994 yearly Santa.  Should have the stitching finished in a few more days.  Once it is done I am going to call a local finisher to see if she is still doing finishing and see what she does with it.  I love the way Faye and Vonna finish my Santas but I want to keep a local business running so I will see if Ronnie is still doing finishing.

More Stitchy Finishes

I finished stitching 2 more 2021 Christmas ornaments for the greats.  Well actually I finished 3 but didn't take a picture of the 3rd one.  I also finished the Stitching on Heartstring Samplery Baby Its Cold Outside.  I really didn't like stitching Baby Its Cold Outside.  I disliked stitching all that white and I think it looks pretty horrible.  I also made a major mistake but I think I covered up for it pretty OK.

Designer:  Lizzie Kate
Design:  #137 - Naughty
Fabric:  18CT Vintage Country Mocha
Floss:  DMC
1st Stitch:  03/02/2021 - Last Stitch:  03/03/2021
For:  Christmas ornament for one of the Greats

Designer:  Lizzie Kate
Design:  #137 - Naughty
Fabric:  18CT Vintage Country Mocha
Floss:  DMC
1st Stitch:  03/03/2021 - Last Stitch:  03/07/2021
For:  Christmas ornament for one of the Greats

Designer:  Heartstring Samplery
Design:  Baby Its Cold Outside
Fabric:  18Ct Vintage Country Mocha
Floss:  GAST - however I substituted the DMC for the 2 white GAST called for and I substituted Classic Colorworks Cherry Cobbler for the house.  I did not have enough of the GAST Pomegranate for the house.   I did however use Pomegranate everywhere else it was called for.  Pomegranate was very hard to find.  I looked everywhere, put the piece aside for a month or more waiting for it to become available, but to no avail.
The mistake I made on this was I dropped the words at the top down one or two spaces so that when I got to the bottom boarder I had to drop that down several spaces so the words at the bottom fit properly.  Fortunately I always leave the bottom boarder until last.  I just stitched snowflakes under the bottom words so it didn't look wonky.
