I've been stitching

Today I completed the finishing on an ornament and I finished the stitching on CCN Santa's Village, house 11, Elves'  Workshop.  I also baked 2 batches of Christmas cookies.  It was snowing when I got up so I didn't go to work.  Good thing I didn't as it took Bob almost 2 hours to get to his job this morning.  Unfortunately that means I have to go to work tomorrow.

No. 11 is Elves' Workshop

Now off to stitch on Bridge in Monet's Garden.  It will be nice to sit and relax and watch a little TV.  I am almost finished with page 24 of "The Bridge".  I just looked back this afternoon and I started this project 03/31/2011 and I bet I have more than a year left before it will be finished, after all I still have 11 pages left to stitch.

A crossstitch finish for my ornament tree

I finished this and it is now hanging on my ornament tree.  Just in time for Halloween

Blueladie Designs
Stitched on 14 CT Aida
DMC Floss
Stitching finished 10/27/2013

I know I made a mistake in stitching the pumpkin but I didn't feel like taking it out and pumpkins aren't suppose to be perfect.  So I took some artistic license and made it imperfect.  Hope Cathryn doesn't mind my changing her design a little.

Crocheting for Christmas

I have been crocheting the last couple of weeks and finished some Christmas gifts so I thought I would share some pictures.  I don't get in the crocheting mood often but for some reason I feel compelled to crochet right now.

Dish Clothes I crocheted to add to my nieces
Christmas presents.  I made them all ecru and soft ecru
since I didn't know what colors their kitchens are.  One
for each niece.

Scarves - One is for my Great Niece Laura .
The other 2 are for friends, Linda and Mary.

Now I just have Winter to do and I will have one for each season.

Yesterday we went shopping and bought a new ceiling fan and light for the kitchen.  Guess I have to schedule the electrician to come install it.  We also want to have some recessed lights put in the kitchen.  Since it is starting to get dark earlier and earlier I think we have to get this done as soon as possible or we won't be able to see to cook.

Looking forward to watching the Eagles and the Redskins tonight.  I hope the Eagles do well so Bob won't change the channel on me.  I guess I will have to watch by myself if he does that.  GO EAGLES

No-Sew Cube for my sister

I stitched this and made it into a no-sew cube for my sister Barbara.  I didn't put a ribbon or bow on it because she didn't like the choice I made for the summer no-sew cube I made for her.  I guess beggars can be choosers.

I have also been working on finishing one of the PS O Christmas Tree ornaments.  I may have that finished tomorrow if I can find a twig that I can use as the tree bottom.

It has been so warm and humid here today and from what I see it is suppose to stay that way through the rest of the weekend.  Oh well soon I will be complaining that it is cold.  No pleasing me. lol

Country Cottage Needleworks - Santa's Village - Candy Cane Cotage - House 8

I finished Candy Cane Cottage today.  Only 4 more houses to stitch.  I have the chart for the next house but I have several other small things I want to stitch before I start it.  We had some friends over for diner the other night and I showed them this project and they just loved it.  I know there are several mistakes in it but it is what it is and it will be unique to me. I haven't stitched the buttons on except for the cookie in Mrs. Claus' Cookie Shop (I just couldn't resist that cookie).  I will stitch the rest of the buttons when I finish all of the houses.

Both of these ornaments have been sent to Vicki at SewFun for finishing.  I wanted Matty's ornament to be of the same quality finishing as Avery's so I thought I would send both of these to Vicki for finishing.

I haven't worked much on CCN's Santa's Village this month.  I started house 8 but not much to show.  I have been stitching faithfully on Bridge in Monet's Garden and should finish page 22 in the next week or so.  I also started another PS O Christmas Tree ornament but not enough done to take a picture.

I am off now to stitch on the O Christmas Tree ornament.  Hopefully I will have it finished by the end of the weekend.

Kayla & Landon's Wedding

My Great Niece Kayla got married on July 20, 2013.  It was a beautiful ceremony and she was an absolutely beautiful bride.

Bob and I left home on July 18th to drive to Greenville, NC where the wedding took place.  We did fine until we hit the southern side of Washington, DC and then traffic came to a virtual standstill.  From
Arlington down through Fredericksburg, VA it was bumper to bumper.  We had motel reservations for the night in Thornburg, VA and thought we would arrive about 3:30 - 4:00.  Well it was almost 6:00 by the time we got there.  We headed out to dinner having picked a restaurant that was listed on our GPS.  Well it must have gone out of business or we kept missing it.  We finally ate at a barbecue place.  The food was very good.

After a terrible nights sleep and a horrible breakfast we headed south to Greenville.  No problems with traffic getting there, just a slight delay around Richmond, VA.  Arrived at the Courtyard Marriott in Greenville around 3:30.  Rested for a bit and then got ready to go to the Rehearsal Dinner.  All of the out of town guest had been invited to the Rehearsal Dinner.  It was very nice and the food was great.  Got to meed Matty and Avery, they are the 2 year old son and 6 month old daughter of Kayla's brother Robbie.  Matty is a very, very active boy.

On Saturday we went to breakfast with my sister, Barbara, her SIL, Lois and my two oldest nieces, their husbands and one niece's daughter.  We went to IHop and I can't get over the food they serve fir breakfast.  Just way to much.  The rest of the gang went shopping but Bob and I hung out at the hotel as he was really tired from the drive the day before and he hadn't slept much the night before.  We both finished the books we were reading and I did a little stitching on a Christmas ornament.

We met the family about 4:45 and went to the wedding.  The ceremony was beautiful.  She was married in the same venue where the reception was being held.  Their home Church is not big enough for the number of guest she had invited.  At the ceremony I dropped my purse and it broke a candle vase that was next to my chair.  I was so embarrassed.  The food at the reception was not as good as the food at the rehearsal dinner but it was OK.  After dinner there was music for dancing and of course it was loud and Bob got miserable so I pretended that I didn't feel well and we left about 9:30 or so and went back to the motel.

Here are some pictures I got off of Facebook of the wedding.

Avery all dressed up for Aunt Kayla's wedding

We got up early on Sunday morning and headed home.  We had decided to drive straight through and according to the GPS we should have been home by 4:00.  Well we stopped for lunch and that put us back to about 4:30.  We arrived home about 6:30 or so.  Bob took a wrong ramp in DC and we ended up in a residential section and he kept missing turns.  Finally got back on track after much yelling at the GPS.  About 20 miles south of Baltimore we hit bumper to bumper traffic.  There was a World Cup Soccer match in Baltimore.  Finally got out of Baltimore only to hit more traffic because of what we think was an accident.  I was so glad to see my house and to sleep in my own bed on Sunday night.
