A Sew Day!

My DD and DGD came for a sew day this week and we make sleep sacks for DGD for day care.
We had a lot of fun and this G'ma got in lots of snuggles with the little one. ;-)

We read a number of different blog posts and compared to one we had purchased. We used the snap idea from this blog~ DIY Mommy
But in the end we made our own modifications.
DD loves them and I think the day care staff will too~ very easy to get baby in & out of it. ;-)

If you click the photos, they will get bigger.
Sorry they are dark, we finished in the evening and DD took them home with her.
It was a great sewing day!

I hope you are finding some time for some fun sewing too!
Until next time~
Merry Christmas!!

The Patti Quilt~

You might think I am crazy taking on a pattern test project during holiday sewing, but for me it motivated me to get my Christmas gift sewing done quicker. So win-win! :-)

It is a really easy pattern consisting of a pile of FQ's with background fabric.
The pattern called for 3 blocks from each FQ, but since I had a lot of batik FQ's with a bit missing, I asked Erica if I could use more FQ's and make only 2 blocks from each FQ.
Can you believe I really didn't make that big of a dent in my batik stash?!
This quilt is twin size, measuring 72 x 96 inches.

I decided to make more blocks to make it 96 x 96 inches. :-o Hey, I was on a roll!
So this is 64 blocks~

768 HST's, 1024 patches altogether, but I wasn't really counting. ;-) LOL
It was enjoyable sewing!
Go the link above to see the other tester versions.

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Introducing Audrey!

I had the pure pleasure of doing this pattern test for Jessica of Sallie Tomato!
Introducing Audrey ~ a new tote so sleek and stylish, I just love mine!!

I used a patterned denim and just love the result!
It has the zipper pocket on the outside front and a couple pockets inside.
The handles are so fun! And the cross body strap means you can shop hands free. ;-)
The top zips closed.

It measures 14"wide, 11" tall and 2" deep.

Use the discount code "AUDREY" to get 15% off the pattern and hardware! The discount is good now through December 9, 2018.

I love my new tote!
Until next time~
happy stitchin'!!

Sewing..sewing...sewing....

How did it turn into December so fast?!
I am sewing like a crazy person over here, trying to get all my Christmas gifts made, plus a few pattern tests...they may end up as gifties too. LOL

My grandkiddoes love pouches so these with clear vinyl windows will be a hit I'm sure.
The smaller ones are I-Spy pouches from Sew Sweetness Minkins 1 series. The larger one is a pattern my friend made up and I tested for her. So far it doesn't have a name but I think it is a wonderful size for toting projects to retreat or a sew-in. ;-) My DGD could keep her dolls clothes and things in it. :-)

After Thanksgiving I participated in a pouch exchange.  I quickly made up a pouch and sent it off~ it was a terrible, dark dreary day and this was the only photo I took.
It is another Sew Sweetness Minikins Series 1 pattern called the Cotton Candy Pouch.

I then forgot all about the swap.  Yesterday I got an envelope in the mail and I didn't know the return address and it took me a minute to remember I would receive a pouch in the mail too! LOL Maybe I have too many projects on my brain? :-)

This adorable Santa Pouch arrived! Along with a little scissors, some inspiration cards, and a lovely note. I am tickled to pieces~ I love Christmas things! And look at the cute Santa zipper pull~ it is a button! How fun!

I hope you are having a little fun this week too!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

A Little Follow Up- and More!

Hello! Is everyone busy Christmas sewing?  I am more behind this year than I have ever been!
But it will all get done!! ;-)
Two years ago I pattern tested a Christmas stocking pattern for Tori @Toriska You can see the post HERE
I went a little off the beaten path and made mine for Halloween. ;)

Well, this year Tori has made an add-on to the pattern and it is free until Christmas! Read about it HERE

I made three! :-)

These are for my DD and her family. :-) (shhh!) I don't think she reads my blog. I hope she doesn't! LOL

They would have been super quick had I not decided to do all the machine embroidery, but I just love them! I hope she does too!

You can find all the details for the pattern (which is now on sale!) and the add-on in Tori's post

I gifted my DS his tree on Thanksgiving and he loved it!
He plans to take it to work and put it on his desk. :-)
I added an ornament to his hand, but forgot to take another photo. :o
I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving and are enjoying the season!
Until next time~
happy stitchin'!!

Sewing & A Birthday

Ok, I lost track of time and didn't post when I should have~ sorry. :-/
I pattern tested this fun bag for Jessica @Sallie Tomato
It is the Myrna bag and mine is done in cork and a blue batik.
It is the perfect size for going shopping!
With all the zipper pockets on the front, and a snap pocket on the back, there is room for your lists, your phone, fabric swatches and lots of other 'stuff'. ;-)

I really love my new bag!

Yesterday was my birthday and the mail brought a few fun surprises! :-)
My friend 'B' gets me! She sent a snowman and red cardinal flour sack towel~ I love it!!
She also found the cardinal woven hot pad on one of her shopping trips. And she made the little pincushion/bowl fillers for autumn. Aren't they cute?! 'B' knows I am a little crazy for red cardinals and  snowmen, and her embroidery is just the icing on the cake!

My friend 'L' knows how much I go dotty for dots! LOL She was lucky enough to attend a workshop and trunk show by the wonderful ladies of Aussie Quick Quilts when they came to the US.
She got a placemat kit for me & a couple FQs, and then included some fun dot prints along with that adorable B&W Christmas print!! The little key chain with boomerang has an acrylic 2.5 inch square attached to it~ very useful! She really gets me too! ;)
Thanks so much 'B' & 'L' for remembering me on my birthday!<3 div="" nbsp="">

Today my machine is buzzing with a bunch of quilt blocks!
I will show you those next time.
Until then~
Happy Stitchin'!!

...Another Reveal...

Wow! Revealing all this secret sewing is almost as much fun as doing all the sewing! :-)
I put this quilt top together as a gift for a very dear friend while I was at retreat.

She and her husband celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last weekend, and since I couldn't be there for the festivities, I sent a quilt. :-)
I got it quilted shortly after the retreat~

There is no pattern. I sewed 25 squares into each block, and made 25 blocks.
Then appliqued the '25' in the corner before quilting.
Unfortunately, it was raining and I couldn't get any good 'after' pix, these will have to do. ;-)
I am now patiently (impatiently) waiting to here it has arrived! :-) LOL

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!

More Minikins 2

Just for fun, I took a photo of all the Minikins I pattern tested from the Season 2 patterns.
This was a 10 month long project~ and I lost one in the ensuing months. LOL~ my DD needed to use the Epicure Pouch for a wedding. ;-) (you can see it in the previous post)
I also didn't get two of them completed by the deadlines because of my Mom's passing. Sara was very gracious and told me take all the time I needed... but the patterns were such fun I had to jump back in as soon as I could. I still plan to make the two I missed, one is cut out already. ;-)

I think the Vacation Packing Cubes are going to be really useful next summer and want to make a couple more~

This is the medium size.

I also love the Picnic In The Park Cooler~

It fits nicely on the backseat of our car, and will hold our drinks, sandwiches etc when we are traveling next summer. :-)

The Disco Double Zip Pouch comes in two sizes~

This is the smaller size. Do you think my DGD will like it?

I hope you have enjoyed my peeks at the new Minikins Season 2 products.
You can find the patterns HERE
I have plans to make more as gifts because I can't bear to part with some of them! LOL

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Minikins 2 Revealed!!

I am so excited to share this bundle of patterns with you today!
The Minikins 2 patterns are a group of 13 patterns from Sara @Sew Sweetness
It was hard to keep this secret sewing from you for these past months!
I love every pattern in the bundle which you can view HERE (affiliatelink ;)

I cannot choose a favorite from the group but these two are special because my DS brought the fabrics from Japan where he worked the beginning of the year.
This is the Epicure Pouch~

It is just the perfect size clutch for special occasions. In fact, my DD borrowed it for a summer wedding. ;)

This is the Turnpike Convertible Wallet~

It is the perfect size for your cash, credit cards and cell phone when you are on the go and don't need a purse. ;) Your cell snaps into its own little pocket. There is a zipper pocket for change or bus tokens too. :-)

This is the Kanga Supply Roll~

It has all those lovely zipper compartments~ perfect for sewing supplies, cosmetics, art supplies,
or whatever you choose!

If you want to see all the patterns in the bundle, go HERE
to view Sara's video.  I will be back with more photos in a few days.

Until next time~
Happy stitching!

To be clear, the link I have in this post is an affiliate link, which means I will get a small credit if you use the link to purchase from Sara's site. Thank you!

Weekend Fun!

Last weekend I attended a sewing/quilting retreat and I am just now recovering. LOL
Not really! ;-)
But it was a fun and busy retreat! We had 83 retreaters this time. I packed my projects in a suitcase, and no, I did not get to all of them!

I did get my BOM Christmas top together~

I will take a better pic once it is quilted. ;-)

I also got two other tops together, but since they are gifts, I can't show you them... yet.
I also pattern tested a couple projects~ can't show you those either. Sorry. Soon!

And I made this little Lazy Girl Designs set~

They are also a gift,  but I don't think the recipient knows I blog.

I also met a reader! How fun to be talking with Nancy (no blog) and discover she reads my blog!
Hi Nancy!! :-)

I have much more to show you, but need to do a bit of sewing to finish things first. ;-)
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Running Late!~

Yanna, the designer behind Bag Options
lives in Cyprus where she designs some really gorgeous bags! Her specialty is leather, but  her patterns can also be made with cottons, faux leathers, cork etc.
I was so thrilled when she asked me to test her latest bag~
It is such a versatile pattern and I have loved seeing all the other testers bags.
She has a very special introductory price through today.
(Sorry I was gone all weekend and couldn't post sooner!) AND she is also going to send you a bonus tote pattern when you order her pattern (for a limited time).

Here is my Mazarita Satchel~

I used cork and a decorator weight cotton.
My machine didn't have any troubles sewing this and I just love using it!
Hurry over and grab your pattern!

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Running Behind!

I meant to get this posted yesterday, but my computer has been doing some weird things and I got tired fighting with it. :o

This is the newest pattern from Tori of Toriska PDF Sewing Patterns~

It is called the 'Round the World Purse' and I thoroughly enjoyed testing it!
Unfortunately, it is only on sale through tonight~ so if you would like to sew it for a special someone, hurry over and get your pattern!

You can also see her testers versions ~here~ So much creativity! I want one of each! LOL
The pattern comes in four sizes, I made the small size.

I'll be back again soon~

Back In The Sewing Chair~

Hi everyone! I am back in my sewing chair and it feels good! :-)
I have been working on a bunch of things simultaneously, and am loving the finishes!
I had the pleasure of testing Amy @KatiCupcake's newest pattern-'Love You More' last week and I am really smitten with this pattern....easy sewing, big blocks, big impact! :-)

My hubby challenged me to use my stash :-o and I did!

Except for the background fabric...that is something I don't normally have on hand. I found a really cool text print that worked perfectly.  And my white with red dots also worked really well~ I love dots!! :-)

There are so many ways you can make this pattern~ and all are wonderful!  The pattern is currently at the printer, but will be available on Amy's website soon.  You can find a link to her blog on her website also, and she will soon be posting her testers quilts. I can't wait to see them!

I'll be back with more soon!
Until then~

A New Pattern~

I had the pleasure of testing a new pattern
by Daryl of Patchouli Moon Studio for a very cool fabric folder~

The Patchwork Fabric Folder pattern can be found on Craftsy  HERE

Daryl also has a free tutorial for sewing a scrappy background for your folder  HERE

I just love my folder! The cover is a wool applique I worked on while riding in the car. It is from a pattern in the most recent Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine. The tree is part of a larger pattern in the magazine for a table runner and I am also working on that. ;-)

Thank you for your kind messages and condolences on my Mom's passing.💔

Saying Goodbye

My Mom passed away on August 16th.
I am sure going to miss her.
Rest in peace, Mom.

Seriously-- Where did July Go??!!

Happy August!
This has been the fastest summer e.v.e.r. for me! It seems like I am always on the go!
How about you?

August came in with a bang! I have finished 5 pattern tests already!
All I can say about them for now is cute. cute. cute. :-) I am already using one item.
And another is going to be delivered on Saturday.
That one is a baby quilt! This soon to be released pattern is called 'Addition' by Erica of  Kitchen Table Quilting
Here is a little peek~

I used flannel, quilting cottons, and minky and I love how soft and cuddly it is! I just quilted it with an allover loopy design to hold the layers together, no batting as it is heavy enough. ;-)

The other 4 I won't be able to reveal until this fall. :-)

I also made 2 mini machine embroidered wall hangings~
Both designs are from the Embroidery Library.
This is the second one I have made of the Lord's Prayer. Unfortunately, my parents have ended up in different care facilities.  My Dad requested the first one for his apartment; when my Mom saw it, she wanted one too. ;-)  So since she had to wait a bit, she gets both of these.

And I kept my embroidery machine busy making a couple key fobs too. I have made so many of these that I have lost count. :-) The design is from Buggalena.
I am keeping my sewing machine hopping! And I love it!! Especially on these hot, dry days when going outdoors is not too appealing. ;-)  Next in my que of projects is a couple more baby items and then I want to catch up on my BOM's.  How about you? Is summer keeping you busy too?

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Yikes! Summer is Flying!!

Goodness how can it be the second half of July already!?
Do you feel like summer is just flying too?
I truly had intended to get back here sooner!

I made little chicken feeder pincushions for my fellow retreaters~

I saw a similar idea on Pinterest, and just went with it.  I got a couple cans of spray paint and had a little fun.  The pincushions are stuffed with a combination of walnut shells and batting.  I gathered them around a piece of card board that I cut to fit the top. The little holes are to store smaller spools of thread, but my friends all agreed M&M's would be better! LOL

I have had my sewing machine buzzing since our return.  I made a flannel/denim raggy quilt as a graduation gift for a friend's DD.

And I just finished a pattern test for a fun bag~

It is loaded with pockets!  Seven in all. :)
It is called Snow White's Purse Charming and is by Willow Creek Sewn

I have a few more things on my cutting table, so need to get back to work!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
